  1. Hmm, I think I'd have to get pretty creative to induce someone to read a book about the world of airline accounting! Maybe something like Cubical-ville Nightmares or Doing the Cha-Cha With Ticket Changes & Travel Agent Commissions Man I could fall asleep just thinking about it!
  2. I've taken a pause on the Clarke, since it's so large and hard to hold up in bed I took up Broken by Kelley Armstrong and am a little over halfway finished. I also ran to 1/2 Price Books over the weekend and found The Radleys by Matt Haig for only $3.00! I'm really happy since I've been wanting to read it for awhile now
  3. Political talk shows, followed by football! (in 40 minutes )
  4. A macaroon (or two) and lovely cup of highlander grog coffee
  5. Emmylou, the new season doesn't start here in the states until 3 November. It's a funky schedule this year because of trying to work around Emily D's pregnancy and because of this, it'll be a shortened season this year
  6. That's odd, Kylie! The new season is great so far - typical in TVD fashion, it's very intense! Some questions getting answered too which is nice
  7. Welcome back, Fi, and thanks for posting the soundtrack deets! Hopefully Muse will be on the OST for part 2, huh? I'm excited to see Joy Formidable on the list, and how cool they have a wedding version of the Iron & Wine song!! I also dig Hard Fi and the Features. The rest of the bands I haven't heard of, but I can't wait to get it!
  8. I like sites like these since I'm always searching for new music to listen to, so thanks, Chaliepud! One of my favorite bands I put was the White Rabbits, and it's funny, but when I looked at the map, Dave Brubeck was on there too! Brubeck is probably my favorite jazz artist ever, and I'm wondering how they got to him from the White Rabbits. Very cool!
  9. Did a bit more reading of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell when I got home today, and also had a book waiting for me in the mail by Alicia Silverstone called 'The Kind Diet.' Has some pretty good-looking recipes!
  10. I'm in the middle of making a big pot of roasted garlic and garbonzo bean soup. It smells so good in here right now!
  11. A friend of mine and I watched 'Thor' last night. It was fun!
  12. Cool! Right now I'm watching The Secret Circle premiere. It's the new show from the creators of TVD and it's pretty good so far!
  13. New episodes start tonight here for season 3! Let's see how much Mr. Williamson and the other writers mess things up...
  14. Sod, I only know one Stranglers song but I love it lots! Golden Brown I finished the 8th Sookie book and have finally decided to tackle the behemoth aka Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke. I'm looking forward to it!
  15. I've read a couple books lately and haven't posted anything about it! I'm so ashamed . I finished the last 2 books of the Hunger Games trilogy, as well as the Sookie books Definitely Dead and All Together Dead. Yesterday I started Sookie book #8, From Dead to Worse. I believe I'll read something more substantive after this though before I tackle the last 3 in the Southern Vampire series . I also need to seriously work on some reviews for my personal book thread!
  16. Yeah!! Can't wait to hear what you guys think! I think Miss Weave is going to be starting it soon too - yay!
  17. I watched Zero Effect the other night and had forgotten how much I loved it!
  18. Thanks, Frankie! Right now I'm listening to the news and waiting for the football game to start in about half an hour. Go Vikes!
  19. My brother took me to see it when I was 5, Karsa, and I clearly remember how exciting it was and how much fun I had. It's a shame when something good from your past gets messed with. Last night before bed I put in Close Encounters and fell asleep around the time when Roy started throwing all the old shrubs and stuff from the yard into his house for another Devil's Tower sculpture. Best film ever!
  20. I haven't received my CD yet, so I haven't had the pleasure of hearing the new tunes. Hopefully in a couple of days! I know they were streaming it on iTunes, but I'm weird about it because I don't want to hear anything until I actually have the CD in my hands, if that makes sense.
  21. Hello and welcome, Pete! Glad you joined us . Do you have any favorite authors/genres?
  22. Listening to the baseball game on the radio currently. Twins vs. the Chicago White Sox .
  23. I decided to buy the app called Book Crawler and scanned 113 books in today. Thanks for suggesting the idea, Sofia!!
  24. Katrina, Alan Bradley has some lovely little mysteries that might fit what you're looking for. They are the Flavia de Luce Mysteries and there are 3 titles out so far, with the 4th set to release in November: Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie The Weed that Strings the Hangman's Bag A Red Herring Without Mustard I Am Half-Sick of Shadows I've read the first two and absolutely LOVED them! They are light, sometimes humorous mysteries set in a little English village.
  25. Thanks for getting me hooked, Sofia! I downloaded one of the free inventory apps and have been scanning ISBN numbers for the past hour or so. It's such a great tool! I'm on page 191 of Mockingjay now .
