  1. Well I've finished it and here's my review -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don’t write reviews often, only if I think a book really deserves it and I believe that this book does. Especially when I see on Amazon there are hardly any reviews for it. It truly is a wonderful book. It’s one of those special reads you only come across once in a while where you’re still thinking about it long after you have finished it. This book is about human trafficking and more to the point human trafficking of children. Sadly this is going on in the world and might be happening right in front of us without us knowing. The book follows 2 Indian sisters Ahalya and Sita who lose all of their family when a Tsunami hits. They have no one left except each other and decide to head to Chennai in search of a refuge. Sadly they never make it to the refuge. They accept a lift from a stranger as they have no other means of getting there and are taken to Mumbai instead, where they are sold into the world of trafficking and slavery. Thomas an attorney in America, who’s wife has recently left him after the death of their baby girl is made the escape goat at work. He decides to take a sabbatical for a year and head to India to work for a none profit organisation who try to rescue underage girls who are being sold into the sex trade. It’s through his work with the organisation that his path crosses with the lives of the sisters and he decides he wants to help them. I must admit I hadn’t realised until this book (maybe I am naive) what Mumbai is like and how dangerous it is. It seems that it is well documented how bad the sex trade is there too. You just have to Google it to see for yourselves. The book is wonderfully written with believable characters. You really get a sense of what life or maybe existence is the right word (they certainly don’t have a life) is like for these poor girls. Passed around and sold to different perverts every night, living in poor conditions, having sex unwillingly to make their pimps money that they never see a penny of and being raped and beaten repeatedly and sold for mega money. It opens your eyes to the darker side of the world we live in. Corban Addison has really done his homework here. Although the book might sound depressing it really isn’t. It can be a little upsetting to read at times but it’s wonderfully written. It’s a book about courage, cruelty, family, survival and loss and made me shed a few tears at the end. Please pick this book up and read it !!!!! 10/10
  2. Thanks Anthea. I never really use the wishlist function. I didn't realise it told you if something had come down in price. I think i'll start using that from now on. It can only help. Can't it.
  3. Thanks Julie. I already use that. I guess it is the same thing. Silly me
  4. Does anyone know if Amazon UK has something similar please??
  5. Does anyone know of any websites for the UK that lets us know of price reductions on ebooks for kindle owners?? I have missed out on a couple of ebooks not realising that they were on special price and have now gone back up and I'm really annoyed I'm not looking for free books necessarily just price reductions. I wondered if there was an easier way rather than having to keep searching on amazon all the time as I have a fairly large list of books. Thanks in advance
  6. The ending ..... I know what you mean I enjoyed it up until then thought it was a great film but I heard there will be a sequeal but don't quote me on that.
  7. The Impossible. Heartbreaking yet uplifitng at the same time. Hard to believe what those poor people went through back in 2004. The film tells the TRUE STORY of a family that were very lucky considering what they were put through, hard to believe what happened to them really in the grand scheme of things.
  8. 1 is rocking out with Charles in the bedroom she replied. why don't you join us ...
  9. Whoops I didn't even realise sorry That's what happens after a couple of beers on a Friday night
  10. well since I started this thread I've noticed I'm flying through books on my kindle. I'm on my third book already since just after Xmas & will probs finish that this weekend. That's quick for me. Normally takes me roughly 2 weeks a book with paperback. Maybe I'm just reading more as I love my new toy I'm not sure though. There might be some truth in it.
  11. That's exactly what I've gone and done Got my new kindle couldn't wait to use it. Read a book on there and now regret buying a selection of paperback books before Xmas as I really don't want to read them in paperback. Just the thought of it fills me with dread lol I thought I'd continue to read paperback but I don't think I will now unless it's cheaper to do so. Who would have thought it ay, me a kindle worshiper. I always said I wouldn't use one

  14. I agree the film looks awesome. I cannot wait for that to come out later this year. It'll be odd to see Brad Pitt in a zombie film though I didn't even realise it was a book
