  1. I just finished Water for Elephants. It was pretty good surprisingly. I have seen it in the bookstore for a while but I never was really enticed to pick it up. With the movie coming out I decided to give it a go - as it must be at least a decent read if it was turned into a movie. It was, now I'm looking up movie times!
  2. Got through a good chunk of Water for Elephants. Its pretty good.
  3. I think that I have about fifty out and about from the last two years, and then probably about that many in boxes from the move I made two years ago.. Not too many but the number will defiantly grow since I'm out of school and will have more time to be able to read.
  4. Right now I have a small bookshelf that holds the books I've read or that are TBR over the last two years. The others are in a box waiting for when I have my own place. I feel like I need to start using the library more often I would save so much money. I don't know why I don't. There is just something great about going to the bookstore and buying a brand new book, and knowing I'm the first one to ever read it and that it's mine forever.
  5. I've just become obsessed with bookmarks. I've started to make them my self and also collect the free ones from different places I go. I never used to use bookmarks but now I have fun deciding what bookmark I should use with my current book!
  6. School's out for summer! School's out FOREVER!!!

  7. First day after my last day of college!!! So I started Water for Elephants - which I've seen on the shelves for a long time now, but never picked up. So since there is time now, and a movie is coming out for it - I figured it was probably good so I picked up as my first read this summer!! Excited to be back on the forum & reading!!
  8. I wish I had time to read :(

  9. So I just recently got into true blood.. and I am now reading the books (as I don't get HBO) and I'm about 3/4 of the way through the first book because the semester has started and I am to focused on my school work to read anything but a text book.. but I was just thinking about how tara isn't in the first book yet.. is she in it at all? I like her character was this just made up for the show?
  10. So, how do you take this cool snapshot of your background if you're using a mac?
  11. So after I finished The Girl Who Played With Fire, I read The Book Thief which I really quite enjoyed. I was balling like a baby in the ending, even though you knew what was going to happen. I loved the narrator, and thought it was a neat point of view. It was tough because I went through the whole book, knowing that certain things will be happening eventually, and hating them, and just hoping something would change, and it never did! Then I read Shiver and Linger, which came off as twilight rip-off's at first, being the wolf side of things.. but then it kind of had its own story. They weren't addicting really and I just read it to read it. Linger seemed to drag on and be a bit repetitive, but it was interesting and just an easy fast read for both of them. Now I've got my self into Whispers by Dean Koontz. It's sucked me in pretty good, but I haven't had a lot of time with it to read. It's been a rough couple of months and I've hardly been online. I also went on an awesome vacation to the Adirondack mountains! so needed to get away, and so wish I was still there! The MockingJay comes out the 24th I'm pretty excited about that! I bought: The Private Patient & The Secret Garden but they are on my TBR pile!
  12. Thanks for the birthday wishes guys! You're so nice :)

Colouring in is very therapeutic isn't it? I might be getting my pencils out soon to work out some colours for a design. :)

haha, I did stay in the lines :) and it is very therapeutic its like for a little while, all I have to think about is what color I should use!

  14. I'm reading this right now. It seems to kind of be dragging for me. Its not as fast moving as Shiver was. I feel like its a lot of repetition.
  15. I just recently finished this book! I thought it was ok, I'm reading Linger right now. I too, am a twilight fan. At first I was feeling a bit wow what a spin off.. but as I got further into it I saw that it had its own story.. its def. a different, interesting story of the wolf side of things. Its not something I can't put down probably because I never really connected with one of the characters. I am not a fan of switching point of views also.. but it had some twists that I didn't see coming that got me to keep reading.. and then move on to the next one.
  16. I was just thinking about this, and wrote in another post that, I like to keep my books nice. I do lend mine out sometimes, and try to give them to only people I trust will not mistreat them. But I like them nice for my self, and also because I do lend them out. I don't want my friend thinking wow look how she treats her books! I just had one of my friends spill coffee on one of my books.. it was something that could have been avoided so it did make me mad, but I didn't let her know that. But now I probably wont lend that book out. It drove me nuts while I was reading it after that. I had taken the dust cover off so if it had just been on the cover.. I wouldn't have minded so much but it ran down the pages too! Oh well.
  17. This.. I was with a friend of mine recently and she spilled coffee all over my book! she was like "oh I just spilled coffee on your book haha".. I think she laughed because it was awkward and didn't exactly know how to respond. I know how to respond either because I really try to keep my books nice besides normal wear and tear as I read them. I didn't really get mad or anything, but it bugged me the whole rest of the time I was reading it. It also bugs me when I cannot find a book mark to use, I really hate just using scrap pieces of paper or random things.
  18. I don't think I really have a favorite bookmark.. I usually try to use a different one every time I read because I most times leave the book mark in the book. I'm trying to break my self of this habit.. as I have found my self missing the book marks I've used.
  19. It really depends on the book for me. If It's something that I'm in love with, I'll usually buy a brand new one but if Its something I only have a minor interest in I will buy a used book, but I still usually look for the best looking copy possible!
  20. Yea! Pet Sematary here too! I had watched the movies and HATED THEM because I'm a big animal lover.. IDK what made me read the book. stupid me, freaked me right out... haven't read a horror book since. ( but i want to.. now) First Fantasy was The Hobbit too! But does it count if my dad read it to me when I was little? And does James & The Giant Peach count as sci-fi? I read that twice.
  21. I just recently made two people ( adults ) I know read these books, one bought it and the second one borrowed mine, they both enjoyed it so much that one was disappointed that i had already lent out my copy of Catching Fire! I am waiting patiently for the third one to come out..
  22. Kell those look really cool! Im off to your tutorial right now!
  23. "No one has been allowed to go into it for ten years, was Mary's careful answer. But it was too late to be carful. He was too much like herself. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
