  1. The state on Wigan's pitch is disgusting, that should not be allowed in such a high level of football, they should be fined. I wouldnt be suprised though to learn that they keep it like that on purpose to compensate for how god awfully **** they are. My opinion is in no way swayed by the Roberto 'Judas' Martinez factor honest
  2. Very interesting that link is Kell. Ok I confess, I bought a cross stitching beginners set quite a few years ago when a female 'friend' I had at the time used to do it and it appealed to me then. For some reason I didnt really start it, I will have to have a look around to see if I can find it, because i'm pretty sure that perfectly good cross stitching beginners set is sitting around my house practically unused.
  3. That used to be the plan, but after struggling through a few books for the sake of it when I wasnt enjoying any of it whatsoever, my philosophy now is if I am not enjoying it, it's got to go; after all I wouldn't sit through a movie I wasnt enjoying. That means I will never find out what happened at the end of the millennium trilogy after throwing the 3rd book under a car, but hey ho; there are far to many enjoyable books on the planet to waste your time reading ones you cant get into.
  4. Is it weird that i'm a 30 year old straight man and I find the idea of cross stitching after reading this thread rather appealing? It seems like something quite relaxing you could do whilst sitting watching tv or listening to music quite easily, bit like colouring in for adults
  5. Well thank you vodkafan I've got Water for elephants on hold for me at the library that i'll pick up this week. I've decided to tackle The Stand again in the meantime and intend to spend most of today reading that, it is huuuge though so once I get my latest from the library I will have it on the sidelines to read, (again) as it usuallly takes me months to get through it as its sooo big.
  6. Admittedly some of his work is nothing more than straightforward, popcorn horror. But one of the major things people complain about his work, as I have done in the past, is when people pick up one of his books expecting a thrill a minute modern horror movie on paper, and find that the work is a lot deeper and he can go into painstaking detail to set the mood for characters and scene. The Stand is one of the greatest books I have ever read, but is one you have to read slowly so you can savour the mood of what he is trying to get across. People who attempt to read it like they would a fast moving crime thriller for example, will end up disappointed.
  7. I disagree, King is a master of his genre. Books such as The Stand and The Shining for example, will in my opinion long outlive us all.
  8. Well if you would rather stay in the championship, Swansea will gladly take your place in the premiership for a season no problem at all I say a season not because I think we would get beat every week, I think we could just about hold our own; but because the money the club could make from just one season in the premiership would do very nicely indeed. I have just seen the challenge by Gorka Pintado (swansea player) on Robbie Savage yesterday, what an absolutely crazy challenge. Robbie Savage is universally despised in these parts, so I wouldnt bet against someone having put the suggestion in Pintado's head to give Savage a kick during the game, Pintado is not the brightest. But he will be lucky to get away with not having a very lengthy ban for that.
  9. Dont fear Swansea..love them, embrace them, they want to be your friend Out of all the teams near the top Newcastle are the one team that dont have to worry in my opinion Relax:motz:
  10. win away to derby, match commentator almost getting into a fight during the game, 4th in the league with a game in hand on forest. Superb:smile2:
  11. log updated, new opinion added on my latest read for anyone mildly interested, which I don't expect, this is just for my own reference really.
  12. Thats what I've got on
  13. I read my book this afternoon sitting in the middle of the local shopping centre whilst waiting for the Optician to make up my glasses. Guess that blows my 'I can only read in silence' theory out of the window:lol:
  14. I am now 30, which sounds so strange to me when I say that out loud as well as a little bit frightening. When I was in school some of my teachers were 30, I feel like I should still be in their class, they were proper grown ups.
  15. I must confess I have never even heard of Ray Bradbury, much less this book, doing a little research I am amazed at how many books he has done that would interest me, and how revered this particular book seems to be. Mr Bradbury has just bumped his way up to the top of my most wanted list. Many thanks for bringing him to my attention! Sorry, dont want to hijack the thread, i'll be quiet now...
  16. I love that, another book to add to my list...
  17. I think I am going to have to put the rest of my Thursday Next books on hold after I finish my current one, I really want to re-read The Stand and this thread is not helping me avoid that thought
  18. 10 books a week wow, I wish I could get through that many takes me at least 10 days to read one! Of course, welcome to the biggest and best book forum you are likely to find.
  19. Arsenal vs Porto on TV tonight, normally these games wouldnt grab me that much, but Swansea Manager Paulo Sousa is one of the pundits
  20. I've got about 100 pages of 'lost in a good book' to read, I then have the other 3 of the Thursday Next series waiting..but for some reason I really want to read The Stand again.
  21. The Thing - made nearly 30 years ago but one of the best horrors ever made, scary even now
  22. Similar happened last Saturday with Newcastle though, they scored toward the end and stole a point they dindt deserve. We lack a striker who can finish teams off, if we had one we would have had 6 points in the last few days rather than 2.
  23. I can never really concentrate on neutral football games, I did have the Man U game on but wasnt paying much attention, but Man U are always lucky arent they? One more post and I can request access to the grown ups board
  24. Yea The Swans were winning 1-0 and Plymouth get a penalty (fair enough), the keeper saves it and the linseman says take it again, it's saved again and they score off the rebound
  25. Stupid bloody linesman
