  1. Honey loops with milk.
  2. Doesn't really annoy me, if I am in a normal mood. I work at the register myself and often say to people, when I see they have lots of small change in their wallets, that I don't mind if they pay with that. Seriously, nothing sadder (okay there is, but you know what I mean) than an old man/woman paying with ten euros for something like 1,20, while they have a wallet full of change. Just because they're afraid people will get annoyed. I say, them and just pay with the small change. That said, incidentally I do have these moods, when I am very cranky, that I can't stand it. But in these moods I really shouldn't go to the stores, or anywhere there are people, for then I get homicidal tendencies.
  3. Well I agree, in a way, just had no idea if they would do such a thing, I mean, they import those books from Tor books, and have nothing to do with the bad quality. But yeah, I've been a customer with them for years now, like 8 years or so, and never had a problem with them, so I guess it shouldn't surprise me.
  4. Ahh, almost finished now with The Dragon Reborn, and checked my email to find an email from the online shop I order my books at. I sent back the copy of The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan I had bought with them because it was horrible quality. One read and it was falling apart. They emailed me that I don't have to pay for that book. If I want another copy, another edition I have to re-order, but big deal, I was afraid I was going to be stuck with that horrible copy! Now am happy. Gonna buy the proper edition soon.
  5. Me too, about the only Vietnam film I can stomach hee hee, I really don't like them usually, as with most war films. There are just a few I find good to watch, and trust me, I've seen em all pretty much. My dad loved war movies, all sorts.
  6. ^Well I wouldn't say I find Anne Rice's work disturbing (except for when she writes horrible characters like Mona Mayfair, you'll get to know her if you keep reading the Vampire Chronicles), but her way of writing does make you feel like you're there, in New Orleans for example, you can just smell the air, feel the atmosphere etc. Though this is better is her early Vampire Chronicles, like they are better in any way.
  7. Read about a hundred pages of the Dragon Reborn and am about halfway through now. Reading more later. I do love these books.
  8. Aww, it's good then? Honestly, I have had this film for months now, I bought it for about 3 euros, couldn't not buy it, but haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Is like some books on my TBR list hee hee. And you guys love films like, the House of 1000 Corpses? Haven't seen it yet, but I have heard friends of mine hate it and think it's overrated. I don't know if I'll ever watch it though, torture and cannibalism I never really like in films.
  9. Okay I have only seen it once now, but I have to say it. AVATAR! I loved it, every minute of it. Seriously, such an amazing film. Really my thing, fantasy and sci-fi mixed. Who cares that they don't go into the science, it was finished and immediately I wanted to watch it again and I can't get it out of my head. I think this one's going to be amongst my favourites.
  10. Gosh I have no idea. What would you base it on? Looks, image, character?
  11. Hee hee, am the same. A friend of mine goes to Bloodstock pretty much every year, especially when it still was inside, and I always was jealous, however, I am NOT a festival girly.
  12. Ohh gosh, that's difficult. Looong time ago. I think it was Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill.
  13. Haha.. mine was Backstreet Boys, in Gelredome in Arnhem here in Holland. I was 14 or 15 or something.. and loved them. Went with two friends that were even crazier about them than I was. However, after seeing alllll those screaming girls, and not being able to hear anything besides screaming, I sort of became less of a fan. Just didn't see all that fuss, why faint at the sight of these guys?
  14. The Neverending Story, by Michael Ende. I think. Has been ages since I read it, so I don't remember exactly how it reads, and I guess it depends on how forward your five year old is. (somehow I don't think forward is the right english word for this but I was kinda at a loss for words) The story would have been suitable for me when I was 5. It does have some monsters and scary stuff in it, at least, I can imagine it being a little scary to a five year old. But a little. What is fun is, that if you have the proper editions, the print is in two colors, blue and red, one to describe the "real" world, and one for Fantasia. But again, one five year old isn't the other, so if you check this out and think your daughter can read these, it's a lovely story.
  15. Today I bought pristine hardcover versions of book 8 and 9 in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Secondhand versions, from our secondhand book store (yes, pretty much the only one), one for 10 euros, other for 12,50. Yay. Only reading the third book now still, but now the paperback versions cost me about 10 euros, rather have hardbacks.
  16. Never gotten the whole Star Wars hype. Used to love the films when I was a kid, now as an adult, not so much. However I didn't really get the hype as such, being born in 1982. And pigs. Ugh. IF I'd collect anything, it'd be Lord of the Rings stuff. Oh, I thought of something. I now own Legolas' fighting knives (they were a gift and I love them), and I have another dagger, not LotR related, but similar. With my ex we had more of those, but we split them up. I would like to have more of those.. you know, pretty, fancy (fake) knives and swords, and maybe axes too. Not guns, don't like those. But yeah, swords me like.
  17. Ehh. Nothing? OKay, books, but that's not really collecting is it, that's because I love reading. But otherwise nothing. I don't have room for collecting too, though not all stuff takes up space, but there's really nothing I like enough to collect. I'm picky too, so even if I like one thing, good chance I'll hate the next thing with that theme that comes along. And I won't put something that I think is ugly in my house, no matter how much I love the theme. I actually don't mind, mom collects porcelain dolls and the whole house is full of it, also with the angels/fairy statues thingies she collects. If she sees one, she has to buy. A friend of mine collects anything (or well, the quality stuff) from Batman, Superman, Terminator, Nightmare before Christmas and I can go on like that for a while, he's addicted and spends way too much money on this stuff while he doesn't have room to put it up. So I see what collecting something can lead to, and I don't really regret not collecting anything. Heh.
  18. First dvd of the first season of (La Femme) Nikita, the 1997 TV series. I used to LOVE that, had this major crush on Roy Dupuis. Now I just started watching it again, is so great to watch it again! And Roy Dupuis is still as yum as I remember.
  19. Well, thanks to everyone for the recommendations.. will take notes and see what I can get my hands on.
  20. Well I have just finished the second and started the third book in this series. However. The second book, the Great Hunt I bought this edition: http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/j/robert-jordan/great-hunt.htm 1990/1991 edition by Tor Us. Paperback, with the cover seen in above link. STAY AWAY from this edition. Seriously, this has been one of the worst paperbacks I have ever seen! I read it once, and I treat my books fairly, but it's coming apart already. Pages are almost falling out, the spine's completely cracked away from some pages. I am seriously off. I sent a complaint to my online bookstore, not a chance I'm getting money back or anything, just had to voice my anger. I switched to the other series of paperbacks, the black and gold covered ones, I had that one as the first book and it's fine-ish, as far as paperbacks go. But thought, what the heck, since I don't care if all my books are the same, the other editions was cheaper (now I know why) and it has this nice, goofy, fantasy cover art. But noooo more. *grumbles* It takes a lot to get me complaining about book quality, but this did it. The contents were awesome though, loved the book.
  21. Finished Robert Jordan's the Great Hunt (and was appalled at the quality of the binding, bloody pages are almost falling out after one read!!), and started the Dragon Reborn, happy that I decided to buy another edition for that one.
  22. Well scientific papers I can get, no problem, I just have to log into my university's site, and it has subscriptions to pretty much all scientific magazines. So where you usually can't access them, I could, and have. However, am looking for more something in book form, something a little more coherent than reading several scientific papers.. I am lazy, I know.
  23. Haha you never know indeed, I didn't really think about reading the "classics" so to say, in this field. I love reading those works, and I want to read Darwin's the Origin of Species, so why not some of Einstein's work. If I can get my hands on it, but might have to check what they have about that in the Library of Science at my university.
  24. So, I have been looking for a decent non-fiction book about astronomy and astrophysics. I have a background in exact sciences, so am looking for something that's not quite popular science. I have read some of Stephen Hawking's work, so that's not what I am looking for. It's good, but I want something else. Plus, here's the thing. Something that won't cost me a fortune. Unfortunately these books are usually at least 60 to 70 euros.. I found a great one the other day, costing 160. I just don't have that money. So wonder if you guys have any idea what's good to read on this subject. I particularly like topics like stellar evolution, black holes, dark matter, galaxies etc. Astrophysics doesn't have to be the most difficult level here, because then there's a possibility I won't get it, sucking at math and physics like I do. Actually, if it's very scientific, as in could be taught at university, is good too, then I'll probably be able to get it at my uni's library so it won't cost me anything. Suggestions? I know not many of you here are interested in exact sciences, at least I got that idea, but maybe, just maybe you know something.
