  1. When I leave the house, after I lock the door I have to walk to the gate and back again to doublecheck it's locked. If I forget whether I checked or not, I walk back again no matter how far I've gotten. I've even paid taxi drivers to drive back and wait while I recheck. It's the same thing with the doors at work. My dog also comes to the bathroom with me. He either sits on the bath mat, or licks the shower door. And I constantly have to say "No! No! No!" to avoid an Andrex moment. I also get really upset over I-love-yous. I have to say it to mum and she has to say it back everytime I leave the room or hang up the phone. The link on my necklace has to be at the back of my neck all the time. And I'm not a vain person. Most of the time I don't bother with make-up, I rarely style my hair properly. But I can't bear a stray eyebrow hair. It must be plucked immediately upon discovery! And I have three moles. One on the back of my left calf, one on the top of my left wrist, and one on the left side of my chin. This borders on extreme paranoia, and is possibly something to do with losing my grandad to skin cancer last year, but I check all three for changes at least twice a day. When I go to bed I have to turn over three times before I can sleep. I start on my left, then turn to my right, back to the left, and finally onto the right again. That's quite a lot...
  2. I'm still doing ok chick - thanks for asking. Just keep hanging in there and don't let the idiots get the better of you. You're worth so much more than that. xx

  3. Most areas in my life seem to be occuring without event this week, and that is something I am grateful for. However, there is one thing which is taking up a lot of my thinking time and that is how, if at all, I might be able to help a dear friend through her difficulties right now.

I am constantly reassuring her of my presence, and that I am here if she needs to talk, or even if she needs to not talk. Perhaps it is something to do with the innate connection our writer-type souls seem to have, but I feel the need to reach out to her and make things better. Unfortunately I have no idea where to start. And anything I do do, seems not to do enough.

You know her quite well actually - perhaps you can offer me some advice. Her name is Giulia...

  4. My condolences for your loss.xx

  5. Big hugs chick. Forget those losers. xx

  6. Now I feel bad. I didn't check the birthdays bit. Happy birthday!!! I hope you had a lovely day. It'll do you good to be around your family for a few days. And I'm glad you're doing a little better. Thank you for your thoughts.

    Much love.xxxx

  7. In that case I'll hit it in the morning Katrina! Catch us if you can Chrissy You can do it:friends0:
  8. Chrissy, why don't you dust your copy down now, ready for reading? Perhaps the anticipation of knowing you're about to start reading something will bring your mojo back? Choose a bookmark to use, smell the pages, maybe open the cover a couple of times, and do all the things booklovers do when they're about to start another written journey. Worth a try!
  9. I can't remember which cast member, but one of them has said that monsters are portrayed to the actors by a tennis ball or similar object on a rope, so to be honest even the actor should have been able to keep up with it's movements. As for last night's, I did find it rather funny. And it was definitely one of the better episodes of this season so far. The worrying thing about that is, that this is the only episode so far that's hardly involved Amy... Personally I don't think she's a very strong character. Previous assistants have been far more 'involved' in the scripts than Amy. I like Matt Smith as a doctor, but so far the season doesn't live up to what I am dubbing the Tenant Years.
  10. Oooh no, I haven't. I didn't know there was one. Dang. Another wishlist add.
  11. Mememememememememememe! It's been a few months and seeing your thread title sparked my interest in a reread Katrina.

Ah well, that is the upside to internet anonimity. One can shut the world out and be alone without being utterly lonely at the same time!

Humour in any situation is a good thing.

I have to sleep as I have to work on Sunday unlike some...

But will talk more soon. xxxx

Thanking you then, for your support and friendship :) - both of which are available by return should you ever need.

Hope you're feeling a bit better than you were earlier. I know how it can be.

I was torn over my reply to you earlier, as part of me wants to chuckle in empathy, and the other part feels guilty that I can find the humour in the circumstances of either my elders or yours!

  14. Good match tonight chick. I'm proud that both of our first matches were against each other!

Hope you're feeling ok. Check in sometime soon and let me know, k? I've been a-wondering how you're getting on.

    Off to bed for now.

    Nitey nite.

    World Cup 2010

I'll concede that Abby. The US played bloody well, and have more than validated their right to be a part of the competition, alongside the greatest teams in the world. I may be disappointed by certain events through the game (cough, Green, cough), but good match. I'll be watching your boys closely.

    World Cup 2010

Well what a disappointment. We just tailed off for the last 10-15 minutes of play, almost conceding the draw, resigned to it. And this is the one thing that really grates on my nerves. For every World Cup I can remember, for the last 20 minutes of a game, we stop playing football, and the passion is over, and we just pass the ball around the pitch wasting time. It doesn't take more than a minute to set up a goal and then another 15 seconds to score it. So we should be putting everything we've got into it right until the whistle. Rooney was the only player who truly shone at the end there for England. Carragher needs to stop playing the ball back into the England half, and instead keep it moving in the opponent's half. This is dangerous for England's defense, and detrimental to our offense. And Terry might have lost the armband, but he needs to start playing with the real passion that had it bestowed on him in the first place. Bringing Crouch on for 7 minutes was a waste of time. He does have skill, but he needs time to get into it. If Crouch comes on as a sub, he needs at least 15 minutes gametime. And I noticed that through both halves, we played prodominantly on one side of the pitch. We need to keep it busy and keep it moving. At least we have a coach with passion this time around. We can pull things back and still get through to at least the last couple of games, but we really need to play those last few minutes, rather than giving up.

    World Cup 2010

Ah, Abby. In England, all our players are either the equivalent of ballet dancers or complete powerhouses. Let's hope Rooney's in a good mood 2nd half, he really can be dangerous. He could plough through a solid brick wall. Bloody Green on the other hand... the play by the States was fast and furious for that ball, the save by Green was brilliantly engineered, only to completely fluff it up by letting the ball go. The idea is to hold on to it deary... Stevie G, Terry, and Wright-Phillips are doing their stuff. But most of the rest of the team need to step it up. My Frankie needs to get more involved in the ball play. I know he's got the skill, but so far it's not coming through. C'mon boys. Give it some wellie.

Metaphorically speaking, they are. They have to be! And a little isn't the word. I'd personally say she's already way off track. xxxx

  19. Vanwa

You're very welcome, it's weird stuff, and you'll feel a bit odd the first time you try something like that, but it can really relieve the tension.

I'm doing better. I presume you saw my rant on the Mature Debate section, in which case you'll know my sister has been ill, but she's improved no end and I can relax on that score at least. As for the rest, I'm getting by as usual. Thank you for asking. xxxx

  20. I'm doing better again, thank you.

My little sister is almost back to normal, so that's a weight off my mind even though we still don't know what's been wrong with her. I think I'm going to have to drag her to my GP for one of those internal examinations we women hate and are loathe to discuss, just in case. It's about the only check she hasn't had. But most of her symptoms have dwindled to nothing, and that's enough pressure removed that my head doesn't actually feel like it's going to implode now.

How about you, how are you doing now?

    Much love.xxxx

  21. Hi Giu

Swinging by to send cyberhugs and let you know I'm thinking of you my friend.

    Much love.xxx

  22. Thank you Michelle. With a subject so close to home it's difficult making sure I don't take things too personally, but the nature of debate is that it is controversial.

Thank you for the hug, gratefully accepted, as is the friend add.

  23. Oh my god oh my god oh my god! You know the merchandisey bit on his site? They're doing a trial line of a Shades jacket. I thought my heart was going to break as it's
  24. http://www.jasperfforde.com/dragon/dragon.html New Jasper book. His first children's novel. The Last Dragonslayer. Due in UK November 10th. YIPPEEEEEE!
  25. Sixthing (ouch) Jasper Fforde for all aforementioned reasons. He's a cappuccino. Start with The Eyre Affair working through the Thursday Next series (which is like the coffee in your cappuccino), then do the Nursery Crimes (this is the foam on your cappuccino), and finish with Shades of Grey (which is as pure genius as the finishing chocolate sprinkles on the foam on your coffee in your cappuccino). My two favourite things in life? Cappuccino and Jasper Fforde. Since I found them, I can't live without.
