  1. I had no idea they were set in modern times. I'm even more tempted to have a look now.
  2. The movie got me curious about this book. I've also been thinking about buying My Life in France by Julia Child. She had such a fascinating life.
  3. I don't mind lending books to my parents because I'm sure I'll get them back in great shape. As for lending to friends, well it depends on the friend - some are reliable and some aren't. I tend to buy books more than borrow because I want to own the books I love. Also, the local library's selection is very small.....but I do occasionally borrow books on gardening, travel or art.
  4. I prefer reading at home at my desk with a cup of coffee (or pop and munchies) at hand but I'll read anywhere - I always have a book in my bag and I read whenever I have to wait in line or in the car. I also love to read outdoors when the weather is nice and the flies are scarce. Noise doesn't bother me. I often read with music in the background or with the tv on. I've set a nightly "family reading time" with my daughter when we sit on the couch and read. She reads more this way than on her own. Occasionally, dad joins in too and the entire family is on the sofa reading!
  5. I've always loved reading and used to love going to the library with my mum. In grade school, certain teachers used to have reading contests (can't remember which grade exactly, 5 and 6 I guess) and the student who read the most books and handed in a short book report for each, would get a free book at the end of the month. I loved the challenge and the prize was a great motivator!
  6. I usually read with music in the background and I sometimes read in front of the tv - noise doesn't bother me.

  9. Read a bit of Playing with Fire today and leafed through my art books.
  10. No I haven't - the Heritage Series were the last Shannara books I read. My boyfriend recently bought The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara - Ilse Witch, so I might read that when he's finished with it. If I like it, I'll continue on to the other series.
  11. I read a few of the Shannara books 15-20 years ago. I enjoyed The Sword of Shannara and the two books that followed. I also read The Heritage of Shannara series but didn't enjoy it as much......it was still good though.

    Favourite sports?

Well, I'm Canadian and I watch tennis more than I do hockey now, so.... I used to be a big hockey fan when I was younger....when the teams kept the same players for years. The Montreal Canadiens were a dream team when I was a kid! Now I barely ever watch regular season play, only the Stanley Cup series!
