  1. I usually look for stuff, usually in nature but sometimes in people's expressions, that are usually overlooked by others. Some people see a mushroom growing in their yard and think 'what a nussiance'. I like to get down there and give it a chance to be seen as an object of beauty and intrigue rather than just a fungus. :D

  2. Thanks :) What kind of photography do you do?

  3. That is such a great movie! CSI: Las Vegas
  4. Hopefully spring comes early this year :) The city I live in (Sioux Falls) was named for the falls that are in the center of town. There are a couple pictures on my profile that I took last winter of them. They are beautiful and very peaceful to visit. During the summer the city sets up free Wi Fi so that you can sit out on the grass and listen to them while you're on the internet. I got a digital SLR and can't work it worth a darn. I am used to manuel ones! *curses modern technology* Do you like photography?

  5. Grilled chicken breast, mashed potatoes with chicken gravy and corn.
  6. Some of the best books I've read have been ones that I bought and let sit on the shelf for a few months (aka, years). Usually if there is a lot of talk about one I will buy it even if I'm not motivated to actually read it. I just finished going through both of my bookshelves and the list of unread is: 1. Phantom of the Opera- Gaston Leroux 2. The Glass Lake- Maeve Binchy 3. Little Women- Louisa May Alcott 4. The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox- Maggie O' Farrell 5. The Historian- Elizabeth Kostova 6. Essays and Poems- Ralph Waldo Emerson 7. The Divine Comedy- Dante Alighieri 8. The House of the Seven Gables- Nathaniel Hawthorne As soon as I finish with my January goal of reading all of Jane Austen's I will work my way down the list. I seem to stick around the classics and fantasy with a little bit of chick lit here and there. I would really like to start reading some historical fiction and mysteries. One particular author I would like to get into is James Patterson. It seems like every time I am in Barnes and Noble I pick up and carry around one of his books and then decide not to get it just before I check out. I am going to make a point to actually buy and read at least one of his sometime soon. If you or anyone else has a reccomendation for me I would appreciate it! The best way to discover a new world is to keep your eyes and your mind open to the one in front of you
  7. Do you like snow? Time to break out the ho-cho! :) It is actually beautiful here today. I think I'm going to go downtown and walk around the falls for a bit this afternoon. I'd like to take my new camera with me but I can't figure out how to work it! lol

  8. We are only 2 and a half weeks away from the beginning of a new year so I have been making my list (and checking it twice... hehe) of literary goals I want to accomplish in 2010. Goal #1: Read all of the books I have purchaced but haven't read yet. Goal #2: Read more of the classics. Goal #3: Reread my favorites. Goal #4: Start sampling genres I haven't read or have only read a little of previously. All in all, fairly simple goals. I am going to try and read 1 book a week minimum (5ish books/month). January Goals: The complete works of Jane Austen in the order of Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, and Lady Susan. As much as I love Jane Austen I have never been able to read all of her stories back to back. Hopefully this will be a good (and do-able) challenge to kick off the start of the new year!
  9. I like that! You have a real way with words.

  10. I love Stephanie Plum but I do agree that it gets a bit predictable after a while. I keep reading/buying them because they are a nice easy read for those days when I don't feel like getting comtenplative about what I'm reading. I just want to sit and have some good Morelli mental candy. Another good series I've been reading lately is the Betsy Taylor series by Mary Janice Davidson. It is a comical vampire series that is very unique and creative.
  11. Nightingale! Hope you like it here
  12. Broiled cod tonight with some rosemary butter asparagus, carrots and beans.
  13. That's the beauty of being a writer. Even if we can't find every detail we need, we can form our own worlds by taking bits and pieces from others. :) Some of the most amazing stories were set in completely fictional surroundings. Patience is a virtue (or so they say...)

  14. Are you refering to the new one by James Patterson?
  15. Love Actually (I'm addicted!)
  16. Yum! My Christmas wishlist is now complete! The search for the perfect picture of him to use as my desktop background will now commence.
  17. It's so much better cold than warm!
  18. I'm currently watching RENT on my iPod at work
  19. Left over pizza (cold, the way it should be eaten!)
  20. Yes, we've been pretty lucky here so far this year. I've always wanted to see the Pacific Northwest with the mountains and endless trees. It must be so beautiful out there. My dad lived in Portland for a while and is very familliar with Oregon and Washington. He talks about his time there so often it feels almost like I've visited!

  21. I'm not religious either but I love Bibles! A friend of mine actually has one written with Greek and Latin on one side and then translated into English on the other. It is so beautifully decorated and was printed pre-Vatican II.
  22. An 'ugly sweater' party to be exact ;) I love researching stuff, even if it has no particular goal behind it. Ancient history is especially facinating to me. I would love to write a book set in ancient Rome or Egypt when I'm finished with my current project.

  23. It is, thanks :) I needed something to remind me of spring! How have you been lately? Have you been able to avoid the snow so far?

  24. It was great! Just work and reading, nothing too special. Now I need to kick into high gear and finish some little odds and ends for my upcoming Christmas party this weekend. :) Are you working on something for school with your research?
