  1. A friend of mine who is a writer actually had her work banned in one of the states (Florida I believe). She told me that it is a mark of good work if people fear it. It's never fully made sense to me but if you look back in history some of the greatest works of literature were on the banned list at some point. I still remember my priest telling us that Harry Potter was the devil when it first came out (yet they had it in the library of my Catholic High school... hmmm...)

  2. I have dipped over 200 pretzels in chocolate this morning and am making fudge. I know that I'm a girl and loving chocolate is supposed to be programed into our DNA but if I never see a brick of the stuff again I wouldn't cry.

That's right! Happy early birthday!!! :) Do you have any big plans?

  3. His work is very unique, that's for sure! Ugh, being woken up by someone is the worst! Hopefully they finish the construction soon.

I'm doing well, just taking a baking/cleaning break. I swear if I never see another chocolate pretzel again I wouldn't care! :)

  4. You're such a sweet person Paula :) I've been doing well. It's snowing here but I have alcohol, chocolate and movies so all is good! How is your weekend going?

  5. *Edit to list of books I want to purchace/read*
  6. I'm having a bunch of people over tonight for a Christmas party so we are having roasted turkey breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, corn, and stuffed baked apples.
  7. How is everything going? I hope you're feeling a little more at peace with everything school-wise now that you're done with the semester :) Have a great weekend!

  8. I'm anxious to hear how you like them Hope you do!
  9. Will do! I haven't read anything by him so hopefully I'll like it!
  10. I agree! The Spice Girls? Really, Rawr? I didn't see that one coming!
  11. If you get the chance read Maude by Tennyson. It is one of my favorites. :) I plan on buying a Poe book this evening as I used to love reading him but haven't since high school. There is one of his works that I cannot remember the name of right now where (I believe) the main character buried someone he killed behind a brick wall and all he could hear was the ticking of a heart beat until it drove him crazy. For the life of me I believe it is called The Telltale Heart but I'm not 100% sure.

How are you feeling? Get any sleep today?

  12. I cannot stand anything by the Jonas Brothers, Jesse McCartney or Miley Cyrus.
  13. I'm so jealous! I've been facinated with the Salem Witch Trials ever since studying it in middle school. Hopefully The House of the Seven Gables is a good read for the both of us!

Philippa Gregory - The Constant Princess I'll continue to add more throughout the year to this list so it will be ever-changing. Hopefully my 'already owned' TBR list will not be changing. Maybe I should make one more goal for 2010: 5. Read all books that I purchace! As soon as I purchace each book I will come back and highlight it in red. Once it is read and finished I will highlight it in green.
  15. Great list Rawr I was a little surprised to see some Jane Austen and Emily Bronte on there. Have you read Salem's Lot by Stephen King? I haven't yet but it is on my 'to buy' list.
  16. One of the best musicals I have ever seen on stage was Jeckle and Hyde. At first glance you wouldn't think the music would be that great but it was absolutely brilliant! Some that I would love to see (or see again) are: Aida, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Annie and Rent.
  17. Great list The House of the Seven Gables has such an interesting history (did you know that Nathaniel Hawthorne was actually related to the infamous judge who presided over the Salem witch trials? He actually changed his last name in hopes of disassociating himself with him!) I'm stealing these and adding them to my wishlist. Thanks!
  18. That was really good ned
  19. That's a beautiful poem. I will have to read some more of Blake's stuff! Have you read anything from Elizabeth Barrett Browning or Alfred Lord Tennyson? They are two of my favorites.

I agree, it is a crime. People can't seperate cost and worth these days. Most find it synonomus when they are two completely seperate entities.

  20. Steak take out tonight.
  21. *Googles William Carlos Williams* Wow, I spent a bit looking at some of his work and it is great stuff! Thanks for the refrence :) It drives me nuts sometimes when I come across something that I find utterly amazing and someone else looks at it and says 'What do you mean? It's a tree.' The world isn't all special effects and 3D like TV, open your eyes people! Haha, sorry... it's still early...

  22. Just found one I had previously missed in my initial search 9. Lolita- Vladimir Nabokov
  23. I didn't know it was a book either until I saw it in the bookstore a few months back. The musical is brilliant! I mainly want to read Paradise Lost so that I can use it as a refrence for a few scenes in my own little writing project. Hopefully it is what I am hoping it will be, but I guess we'll see. I'm currently reading Paradise Lost by John Milton and it is one of the most difficult works I have read. I can't imagine Dante being worse.
