  1. I know how you feel!! My son is a Harry Potter fan and talks all things potter and I find it frustrating I don't have a clue what a Grifindor is (I know now... finally ) Anyway, so I have had more of a urge to read them and I will at some point. As for me I have finished Living Dead in Dallas, and I am now reading Dexter in the dark and I am 70 pages in. I am liking it so far. I have found though my last few books have not gripped me. I am not sure if that is because I have been ill and I have lost my Mojo or that I have not liked the books as much as I thought I would
  2. Book #9: Living dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris. Synopsis Cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse is having a streak of bad luck. First her co-worker is killed, and no one seems to care. Then she comes face-to-face with a beastly creature which gives her a painful and poisonous lashing. Enter the vampires, who graciously suck the poison from her veins (like they didn't enjoy it). The point is: they saved her life. So when one of the bloodsuckers asks for a favour, she obliges - and soon Sookie's in Dallas, using her telepathic skills to search for a missing vampire. She's supposed to interview certain humans involved, but she makes one condition: the vampires must promise to behave, and let the humans go unharmed. But that's easier said than done, and all it takes is one delicious blonde and one small mistake for things to turn deadly ...The Sookie Stackhouse books are delightful Southern Gothic supernatural mysteries, starring Sookie, the telepathic cocktail waitress, and a cast of increasingly colourful characters, including vampires, werewolves and things that really do go bump in the night. I reserved this at my local library after reading the first installment in this series (Sookie Stackhouse/ True Blood). This is the second in the Series and the book is mainly set in Dallas, which was nice for me as I often travel there - well more the airport . I had to read it straight away as I thought it would be a good fill in and a light read for a train journey I had to go on. I found the book to be funny, comical, yet slighter darker than before. I did find the book slightly rushed in places and I found some of the scenes a bit of a let down and left me kind of 'underwhelmed' (If that is even a word) But - on a good note I did like the underlying stroyline of the relationship between Eric and Sookie, and the possiblities of trouble in the horizon for Sookie and Bill. All in all, I found it to be Ok and has not put me off reading the next one, which I have ready on my shelf. 7/10
  3. Hope you enjoy Dead until Dark, let me know what you think. CW
  4. I am so glad everyone is still rating the Lost book of Salem. I have taken it out of my library and I am looking forward to reading it. .
  5. I sure will. I have to go up the library today as my kids need some reference books. I'll tell you the book title tonight. I just hope it is still there! Haha.

  6. Hello me dear, hope you are feeling better than what you were over the weekend, and you told your Co-workers to Kiss your Ass!

  7. Oh wow!!! Thats sounds awesome. There is a book and I can't think of the name. But it is in my local library. It is basically a kind of like Da Vinci Code but about the meanings behind songs and how one song after another lead to different signs and codes. With the Hardback book is an audio CD containing the songs. from early classical to swing, Blues, Jazz and modern day Rock I think. To be honest I have not read it but I have always looked at it and contemplated having a read of it. If you are interested I am going to the library tomorrow I can take it out, read it and let you know what I think.

  8. Oh hey!

Thanks for that, sounds like you could make pretty darn good reviews! I will most definitely be moving it up the pile.

What sort of music is it that you are into?

  10. Next three are already on reserve Charm . Unfortunately I was only able to read 60 pages as I am STILL getting over this god damn bug! I don't know what is wrong with me. I never have any energy
  11. I have that on my TBR pile, look forward to hearing what you think at the end
  12. I finished Dead until Dark a few weeks ago and I enjoyed it, you will love it if it is your sort of thing. I was reading Dexter in the Dark by Jeff Lindsay but after picking up my reservations of Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris and Eclipse by Stephanie Mayer (Even though I have not read Full Moon yet) I decided to read Lving dead in Dallas first. I can't believe how much I want to read this book. My OH was right, they can become quite addictive! Hopefully I can get this read by tomorrow night and I can get back to reading Dexter again.
  13. I mainly buy online as the nearest Waterstones is in the City and never go in there. I do buy sometimes when I am at the supermarket, or at an Airport. I love looking along the shelves and find a book that you have never even heard of. I buy books (most of my random ones) at my local caharity shops, becuase they are cheap and I pass them everyday . But I do buy online, either via Ebay, Amazon or Play.com. I use a Prepaid/ topup card. I have a prepaid Paypal card that you can buy for 4.50 I think? and I got it due to being slightly worried about online Fraud. I buy all my small items on there. I just wish I could book my flights with it also.
  14. Happy Birthday Kenny!

  15. Read 70 pages of Dexter in the Dark yesterday, is already a promising start, really enjoying it already. I was really tired last night to carry on, but I have no work until this afternoon, so hopefully I can get a few more pages in.
  16. My first vinyl was Tapu - China in your hands,
  17. I agree it is. My OH who HATES reading loves the Sookie Stackhouse series of books and is obessed with the show. He watches it in America and says that he is missing it already. He keeps telling me to hurry up and watch it so were are at exactly the same point so when I next go over there next, we can watch them all together. I agree though some people who you would not believe would watch something like this are loving it. It's great. hopefully will make some people read the books and make them love reading in general.
  18. I am watching Series 1 Episode 8. Ok and I will admit, I am becoming a real fan! I LOVE IT! I have to go pick up the second book today from the library. I could have got it this morning but I wanted to watch some more episodes first! I am loving Bill more and more each episode.
  19. I finished 1st to Die by James Patterson last night. I have wrote a review on my book log. Now moving on to Dexter in the Dark by Jeff Lindsay. I want to read it real quick as my resservations for the next Sookie Stackhouse Novel and Eclipse by Stephanie Mayer have arrived at my Library but I have too many books on loan to take out. I have had my mojo but it does not seem to be working as well. I think the next Sookie Novel might fix that.
  20. Book #8 - 1st to die by James Patterson Synopsis As the only woman homicide inspector in San Francisco, Lindsay Boxer has to be tough. But nothing has prepared her for the brutal maniac who has begun a killing spree -- slaughtering newlywed couples. Lindsay is sickened by the deaths, but her determination to bring the murderer to justice is threatened by a personal tragedy. So she turns to Claire Washburn, a coroner, Cindy Thomas, a journalist, and Jill Bernhardt, an attorney, for help with both crises, and the Women's Murder Club is born. This is the first book in the Women's Murder Club. I have not actually read many of this series, actually only the one previous to this.( I think it was forth of July) This was your normal James Patterson fast paced Crime thriller. With the normal super short chapters good for a bus journey or train communte. The characters are good and i found Boxer a really good character, whom I felt I 'connected' with. BUT, I do find that his writing skills are not as good as others. I found that you have to have a really good imagination to get a character in your head apart from Linsday Boxer, the other characters are basically plucked from your imagination. Throughout the book there are many twists and turns. Some to be honest I totally rediculious and I found myself saying "Oh please" but I did read it in double quick time considering the lack of time I have had to read. If you are fan of crime and want quick easy yet 'entertaining' read then this is the book for you. 7/10
  21. Hi nice to meet you! I have not read any of those books, but I have heard so much about the Time Traveler's wife that at some point I may well read it. Hope to read many more posts from you. Take Care CW
  22. I have pretty ill this week and been going to bed straight after work and the kids are bed. So had no time for reading. I did manage to get some done while the kids and I were down the local park, but that really is about it. I don't have much to do this morning so I am hoping I can finish 1st to die by this afternoon before I go to my meeting. Serious reading ahead I feel. After that I am going to read the next Dexter book.
  23. Picked up my copy that I reserved of The girl who played with fire. I do have however many books to read before so I don't think I will be starting it for a few weeks yet.
  24. I agree this was a good book and I enjoyed it very much, it was a nice surprise.
  25. Look forward to hearing your review I have this on my TBR pile and have heard nothing but good about it. CW.
