Hey all. I decided a totally different career change so I'm right back at the bottom and working my way up. Life with primary school children is fantastic and I wouldn't change the life decision if you paid me. It's tough, time consuming and at times stressful. At the moment I'm back on the studying circuit and coming to terms with being a student again. Sometimes I feel so old!!!

Hmmm, this book sounds like something I would like to read, however a good mojo is needed by the looks of the comments. Is there an audio version? is it any good?
If not I may wait until I have a fantastic mojo.

I was given the book to read after my friends raved about them. They were easy to read and surprisingly got my reading mojo back at the time. I agree with the camp who say that the book isn't a work of art, however like twilight, it's brought people who wouldn't read muhch if at all, reading... That can be nothing but a good thing.

Some great books you've listed. I'm determined to re-read the 'Game of Thrones' books again. I've just purchased the first book via audible as I've just got a new found love for audio books.

Hey all, my name is Catwoman, and I used to be on the site a lot a couple years ago, but I took a break from the internet including the site and I'm back.
I don't read as much as I did and when I do it's generally non fiction teaching textbooks, or fiction books on the communite to university.
At the moment I'm in the middle of a Sookie Stackhouse book, while reading The teaching Assistant's Handbook, and a book about the psychology of the witches trails.
I hope to get back into the site again, as I really have missed it and some of you guys on here.

27% into A Game of Thrones. I wanted to re-read the first couple before carrying on with the series. Other than that I've read a few mediocore books. Mainly thriller and crime. I wasn't overly impressed with the new Val McDermid one.

I'm halfway through Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix. I'm really enjoying it. I hope to be finished by wednesday if I have the time... I will make time!!! Grrr.

After another busy week I have only managed a chapter a night of Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. Around 25% through. It's good isn't Harry a moaning minnie in this book.
As for book purchases I have grabbed loads *Blushes* I'm hoping the novelty of my Kindle will wear off soon!!! *Eeeep

Not much reading done for me been super busy, and tired and my reading time has been inturrupted by the Stargazer Live on BBC two. Great thing to do with all the family
But I did read a couple of chapters of harry pOtter and the Order of The Phoenix. Isn't Harry Whiny?! On Chapter five. But I am enjoying it.
My tree book is also The mammoth book fo conspiracies.

That's why I got it as a present, everyone knows how many books I take away with me. Also so the big heavy books that I have I will now find it easier to read in bed.

Thats fantastic about not eating anything sweet @mrslovebug. My kids still have xmas treats and we still hve bits left over. I am so tempted.
After looking and replying in this thread I went on Amazon and got the EA SPORT active 2 for the Wii. If David Beckham endorsed it, well I have to give it a shot! Also did 45 mins of just dance and was rather sweaty!!!
This is a great thread and will make me keep going on my long, hard and I think at times smelly challenge.

I started my healthy challange last week. I didn't start it sooner as the kids were still home from school.
My challange is not necessarly about loosing weight but to be able to look good in a bikini for my holiday. I want to tone up my stomach badly.
I have cut out the chocolate and the snacking.
I do exercise everyday. Some days I do the Just Dance 3 sweat programme. somedays I use my wii fit and sometimes I use my iPod Nike fitness programme which is fab.
I haven't weighed myself but I will do on Monday.
Let the challange commence.

Book 2: Steig Larsson - The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets' Nest (Millennium 3)
Rating: five out of five stars.
Synopsis:
I'm not going to write a synopsis for this, purely because even the slightest of info may give away a storyline from the previous book. All I will say is that this is a continuation from book 2.
My Review:
As a lot of you know I loved the previous book and I am a fan of the characters Lisbeth salander. I would even go as far to say that she is one of my favourite fiction characters of all time.
Like previously said this is the continuing storyline from book 2 which I am not going to discuss. I want everyone in the world to read this series!
A lot of people dislike the millennium series because they are long, and in places can be very detailed and full of Swedish law and information that at the time seems pointless. Once I got used to Larssons' style I found I loved this and made me fully involved. the main characters in the series are Blomkist and Salander. they are still as everprominant in this book even though some of the other characters like Blomkists friend with benefits Berger has a storyline of her own through the book.
The storyline of book two does in many ways conclude at the end of book three. Some people feel that unfortunately some of the storylines were never finished and that they were wanting more. That is true for some things, and I agree that he could have made the series that little bit longer. If the rumours are right he had full intentions of wrtting more books with Salander and Blomkist, and he was already writing the fourth.
Did I love the books as much as one and two? maybe not but I still give it a five. maybe more so because I just love this orginal series so much. Out of the three books I found 2 to be the best of them all.
Am I sad that the series has ended? Yes, very much so. Just like when I finished The Lord of the Rings trilogy I was saddened that the world I had been in was finished. The journey, the feelings, the shock and the joys were gone. I hope it doesn't take me as long to find another series that captivates me as much as much as this did.
I've just read this review and I have noticed that it is complete blabble. Thats becuase I really don't know what to say other than you really should give the series a real go. I'm going to put it out there and say that the series is a modern classic!

Finished The Girl who Kicked the Hornets' Nest and I loved it. Will do my review some point over the weekend.
Started Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix. Much to the joy of my oldest. I stopped reading it after chapter three as I had the hardback edition and I struggled to read at night. after buing it on the kindle I have no problem now
I have also come to the conclusion that I am giving up on Next. I just have no interest in it anymore. Like I've said in previous posts I loved the subject matter but there were too many storylines which too many one dimensional characters.

Yet again I was so tired by the time I got into bed I only managed to read to page 600. I am determined that once worked is finished I will complete this book. After that I have no idea what I am going to read. No wait.... I keep forgetting I promised my son I would read the next Harry Potter book, which is Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix.
I'm still reading Next by Michael Crichton. I'm so bored with it already. I want to get it read and finished with by Monday so I can pass itback to my friend.

I've been reading The Girl who kicked the Hornet's nest at a good pace. Not because the book isn't fantastic, because it is. I just haven't had the time to had a long session.
I'm 550 pages in and hope to finish it in the next couple of days.

I am loving The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' nest. I was reading it for hours on Thursday night. Not much reading so far over the weekend as it is Oldest's Birthday. I still have next by Crichton to read too. But I just not liking it much now. Which is a real shame.

Oh no Charm!
After finally writing my review of my first read of 2012. I am half way through a book called You might be a Zombie and other bad news, but utterly true facts. It's a funny book but will be onthe side lines as I am about to start The Girl who kicked the Hornets nest. The time has come to read it
I am kinda sad now, but it has been sat on my book shelf for far too long I wanna read it so bad. -

Book 1* Jesse Ventura - American Conspiracies, Lies, lies and more lies
Rating Four out of Five Stars
Synopsis
Former Minnesota governor, navy SEAL, and pro rassler Ventura has a new truTVshow investigating but not necessarily debunking conspiracy theories. This companion to the program, a sort of teaser, dissects such famed objects of unending speculation as the JFK, RFK, and MLK assassinations. Ventura concludes that none of those were twisted-loner crimes but rather resulted from conspiracies of varying vastness. Anent the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Ventura asserts that “our government engaged in a massive cover-up” and had “ties to the hijackers.” He ventures that “unanswered questions remain about how the towers were brought down and whether a plane really struck the Pentagon” and that the “Bush Administration either knew about the plan” or “had a hand in it.” Heady, paranoiac stuff, to be sure, but there are even more forthright charges regarding the assassination of Malcolm X, the Jonestown massacre, and the “stolen” elections of 2000, 2004, 2008, and, for that matter, 1980. Believable? Some of it. An action-packed read? You bet. --Mike Tribby
My review
Ventura's TV show is one of my guilty pleasures. I love it. I spent my day off sat watching a complete series one day! Whether or not I believe in the conspiracy I find Jesse's passion contagious. If you hate conspiracy theories maybe it is best to stop reading this review now. Because the book is exactly what it says it is.
Now I had a little bit of background knowledge on most of the cases. The ones I knew little about I found interesting and at times thought provoking. There were a couple that actually I knew a fair amount about like the JFK conspiracy, this chapter didn't really enlighten me that much more, yet I still found it enjoyable just reading it like Jesse was reading it in audio book form, with his passion and energy.
If you want a book to have loads of background research with indepth debate this book is not the book for you, nor do I think this was his intention. I think Ventura just wanted to highlight his theories and the theories that have been bought to his attention through filming his TV show. He give a list of books to follow on with if his book has wet your appetite.
All in all I love the book. It was, quick and easy to read. I put a few of recommended reading books on my wishlist. So Mr Ventura, Mission accomplished!

I haven't managed to finish Next by Micheal Crichton or American Conspiracies yet and doubt I will before the nights end, so these will be my first books of 2012.

I am offically addicted to downloading books for my Kindle. Gah! Spent too much already. Books include Discovery of Witches. Two of Jack Kerley's books, and the latest Chris Carter novel.
I have two books still on the go. Ploughing though Next by Michael Crichton. Over half way through. I am finding it interesting.
My other book that decided to read is for the kindle and is called. Jesse Ventura: American Conspiracies. I know a little back information about him and I watch his show about conspiracies. Very easy to read and 25% in already.

It's set 10 years after Last Light and follows the same family. Should be a good read!!
Bought The Guinness Book of World Records today which was the Kindle daily deal. Not bad for £0.99!!

I love to travel. I have terrible itchy feet if I haven't travelled for a while. I love America. The people
and it's culture. I go over at least afew times a year like some of the people on the board know. I also plan to go to places like Madagscar and Belize There are so many places in the world I would love to and will go to in the future. I have been very forunate and have travelled well to many places all around. But I haven't been to as many as I would like.In 2012 I have a few holidays and mini breaks planned. I am off to california (San Diego) in June and will be spending the first few days of my 30's there. Also after years of saivng and planning my family holiday is Florida. It something I have planned with my boys for years and finally after year we are going in August. I don't think I have ever been so excited about a year than I have about 2012.

At the moment I'm reading Definately Dead by Charlaine Harris. When I had the time to read, I couldn't find it anywhere, however I tend to get my reading done on the communite to univeristy, or lunch breaks at work.
My study book is 'Passing the literacy skills QTS test. Which you need to complete BEFORE even applying for your Primary Teaching Degree.
