  1. Blurb: Meg Cabot - Boy meets Girl(from FantasticFiction since I read the EBook version) When you work for a T.O.D. (short for Tyrannical Office Despot... also known as Amy Jenkins, Director of the Human Resources Division at the New York Journal, New York City's leading photo-newspaper), and your musician boyfriend of ten years has just announced that he can't commit to a long term relationship because he has to take it "one day at a time", and your best girlfriend is on fertility drugs because she and her husband can't seem to get pregnant, and your mother is driving cross country in an RV with a younger man, and you can't seem to be able to find an affordable studio apartment anywhere in the five boroughs, it might seem like things can't get any worse. They can. Because the T.O.D. might make you fire Ida Lopez, the most popular employee in the paper's senior staff dining room. And Ida might sue for wrongful termination. And you might just find yourself giving a deposition in front of Mitch Hertzog, scion of one of Manhattan's wealthiest law families, "a soulless corporate drone" who embraces everything you most despise... but also happens to have a nice smile and a killer bod. The last thing anybody - least of all Kate Mackenzie - expects to find in a legal arbitrat My Opinion: Like the previous Meg Cabot I read this is also in the e-mail form, although mixed with phone messages, diary entries and here and there when the protagonist didn't have any other paper nearby, thoughts writtin on menues. I can't say anything wrong though. What am I to do, I love her books. Not better than the previous not worse. Still I think it's best to read when you don't want to think to much. I call these books Quick Reads cause you don't need to keep track of anything story is not that compelling just a love story. Good beach read maybe if you like thise chick-lit kinda work. Grade:7.5/10
  2. Blurb: Meg Cabot - The boy next door (from FantasticFiction since I read the EBook version) Melissa Fuller, gossip columnist of the fictional New York Journal is on the brink of losing her job. This particular morning she is 68 minutes late for work - making it her 37th late arrival so far this year. Human Resources have given her another official warning, her boss seriously doubts her commitment to the paper and, more importantly, even her best friend has begun to worry about her psychological well being. This time, however, Melissa has a real excuse. She has just saved her elderly neighbour from a near-fatal attack, taken her to hospital and in the process become sole custodian of Paco her Great Dane - not the ideal accessory for a New York City girl. Melissa urgently needs to trace her neighbour's only relative and when she finally meets him the real trouble starts. My Opinion: It takes a while to get used to this format since the whole book is in e-mails written to each other. You get the whole story, but you better not miss one email. Once I got used to it the book read very fluently skipping the email headers which I do in real life anyway and the love story unfolds. Summery read like always with anything I've read up to now by Miss Cabot. Grade:7.5/10
  3. I bought the first one (Twilight - movie version) for my brother's girlfriends housewarming. I had been raving about the book and since I have an english version she wouldn't borrow it from me, so I bought her a nice dutch version so she could read it
  4. Wasn't that by Alexandra Potter?? If you didn't like that one don't start Who's that girl by the same author. I liked them by the way.
  5. I read books by both male and female writers. If a book is good it's not cause the author is male or female. Even when I write this and think about it most of my books are by female authors. Maybe that's because I mostly read chick-lit. And even saying you love reading a male or female books most doesn't mean a thing maybe it's a man under a woman's alias writing or vice versa. You never really know even not when you go to a book signing cause it could be someone posing as the author.
  6. Hello Christopher and Have fun on here
  7. I will update soon when I have more time with blurbs & opinions on the other books I've read in the meantime
  8. Do I need to drag tissues along with the book since i'll be reading on the train??
  9. Little off topic but(coudn't find a topic about) Rob got hit by a Taxi in NY (more info on People ) He's not hurt by the way but was running from fans
  10. No Carpathians I'm not reading any books by Christine Feehan or Katie MacAlister at the moment. It's an Argeneau book from Lynsay Sands. But ok they are very similar, romance vampire novels
  11. Blurb: Sophie Kinsella - Can you keep a secret? (from Sophie Kinsella's website since I read the EBook version) Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets: Secrets from her boyfriend: I
  12. Which book is this?? I'm a music-writing vampire who's been sent to the UK by his cousins to find his aunt/their mother. I've just found my lifemate and want to turn her to the eternal life.
  13. I can't remember which was my first fantasy or horror. I've read 1984 and Animal farm, read the Harry Potter books and the Hitch hiker books but I've been reading since I was 7 and that's 19 years now so it's hard to remember which one was the first in it all. Are the Earthsea books good? I've been wanting to get some but haven't up till now?
  14. The books are very very very good. But I think all of us are going to say that (maybe not all all). I found them wonderful to hide away with. I even took a few days off so I could read Breaking Dawn in one go.
  15. I'm going to start reading this one after I finish the vampire novel I'm in now (thinking finish the one I'm reading today and starting this one tomorrow)
  16. Blurb: MaryJanice Davidson, Karen Kelle & Nancy Warren - Bad boys with expensive toys (18+) (from FantasticFiction since I read the EBook version) The Fourteen Million-Dollar Poodle - Nancy Warren Labour dispute negotiator Vince Grange has a reputation for being a tough guy. Tough guys hammer out deals, drink beer, and keep their well-muscled, six-foot-four physiques in shape. What they do not do is inherit frou-frou toy poodles named Mimi who only understand French. Good thing Vince was a softy for his late eccentric aunt, and really good thing she left him fourteen million dollars so he can hire a French dog nanny. The World is Too Darned Big - Mary Janice Davidson The name's Dyson. Benjamin Dyson. Genius engineering geek by day and unfortunately, genius engineering geek by night. Ben may work for the CIA, but he's the mild-mannered brainy type who wouldn't know a gun from a gear shift. Enter Tara Marx. She's six feet of big, bad, booty-kicking fearlessness, and she needs Ben on her mission ASAP. Guilty Pleasures - Karen Kelley Computer entrepreneur Alex Cannedy loves women - the way they move, talk, smell...and other things. He'd love to get to show Kagen Yates a good time, but his sister has declared the wealthy designer off-limits. She even makes him pinkie-swear not to so much as wink at the hot babe who's had her heart broken by men just like Alex. But Alex has no idea how his resolve, will be tested. Kagen has plans of her own My Opinion: I normally love the bad boys in books but these weren't bad enough, too polished. Yhis was bothering me while reading the stories. Since these were short stories it might have been that I didn't get a feel for the characters. Not a bad book, maybe good for a flight somewhere or something like that but not so good for sitting down and reading in one go. Grade:6/10
  17. Cancelled shows, aaah, I hate when they do this. For me the shows I really would like to have seen more off: Firefly, I'm fan of almost everything Joss Whedon does and this was way too short. Good thing they have had a few comics out after in the last year or so. There is still a big firefly fanbase out there. Angel, It was sad to see the show go. it ended so weirdly start of the battle and otherwise (buffy/angel season finales) we got to see the whole battle. For the big fans of this, good thing for the follow up comics. I own them all. I've got a steady order for each of them. It's not the same but better than no Angel at all. Buffy, I know an other Joss Whedon show but like I said I'm fan of his work. I thought the 7 seasons were even too short for the whole story. But for this they also continued in comic form. I heard some rumors about maybe there being a film coming to continue the story but no actual final news. The Ex-list, I don't know if anyone saw the 4 episodes of this show. Yes cancelled after only 4 episodes. But I still loved it. Elizabeth Reaser (or how do you write her name) played the main character and it was funny and I really would have loved at least a complete season. Dead like me, I just bought the 2 seasons of this show. Only saw a few episodes before and now want to really dig into it. I love tv shows and I watch a lot of them, but why do they always cancel the ones I love??
  18. Does anyone know when the week/season3 is going to be aired on BBC? I know it will be on BBC1 but can't find dates of when exactly it's going to be. I'm looking forward to 5 days of John Barrowman
  19. I've got a number one band and going from 2-5 no particular order 1.Muse 2.Franz Ferdinand 3.Kaiser Chiefs 4.Tori Amos 5.Athlete
  20. I think you're all going to shoot me but I didn't like "American Beauty" at all. I went to see it at the cinema when it was released and I actually fell asleep during the showing. Later that year they got like I don't know how many Oscars and I was stunned because I didn't like the film at all
  21. I missed the part where Edward grabs the desk untill the wood groans under the strenght of his hands when she first sat beside him. It was the one thing I really really missed. But beside that in the restaurant scene(film) I just thought the reading peoples minds part was hilarious
  22. Should this go in the thread about the book? BUT you can check IMDB online for release dates of any movie.
