A Vintage Affair - Isabel Wolff
Rosalind replied to chesilbeach's topic in Women's Fiction / Chick Lit
This book has been in and out of my ordering basket since I stumbled upon it. But every single time I order a batch of books I put it back in the save for later pile. I don't know why though, maybe next time -
The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
Rosalind replied to Nollaig's topic in Children's / Young Adult
I do agree it's been done good, the film. Of course some pieces are missing but they can't put everything in there. I had just finished the second book when I went to see Twilight, the movie for the first time. By the time I went to see it for the second time a month had passed, I had gotten into the soundtrack(which I love by the way) and actually went to put the songs in the right places in the film. The month in between had to do with the fact that it was released here in Belgium at the end of November and it got released in the UK in December, where I was at the time of release and didn't have anything to do one evening -

TSK. I'm still waiting for the release of the DVD here it's still going to be a month before release. I saw the film twice at the cinema though. And since I just finished Breaking Dawn at the end of last month I still had my fill of Edward (my Edward not Rob Pattinson). Now I'm getting a bit anxious and I want to see the film again. How did Rob do Edward again, it's been since christmas since I saw it. -
No I haven't read anything by them yet. Thanks for the tip Charm

Blurb: Deirdre Martin - The Penalty Box Everyone from Didsbury High remembers Katie Fisher as the dumpy brainiac from the poor side of town. Every one from Didsbury High remembers Paul van Dorn as the school hockey star - and heartthrob. But now they're facing off - and matching up in more ways than one. Katie's lost the pounds, added some self-confidence, and become a drop-dead gorgeous sociology professor. And since a series of concussions put an end to Paul's pro-hockey carreer, his star has dimmed. Now he hits the ice as a youth hockey coach. But he's still got the hometown crowd behind him as the owner of a bar called the Penalty Box. Paul is reliving his glory days. Katie wishes she could put those years behind her. And the battle of wills that ensues just might knock love right out of the game... My Opinion Although I really love this hockey players series, I'm starting to feel a little bit of Deja Vu when reading. This is the 4th book that I've read now and I'm really going to read the rest of the series but I'm going to leave some time between this one and the next. I'm not saying I didn't like this book. I loved it, even it's predictability. It's a good chick-lit book, good to relax to get swept away in the romance and the struggles for the relationship. Grade: 7.5/10

I couldn't wait for the 3rd one to be out on paperback so I got the hardback one. Normally I only buy paperbacks, because they are easier to lug around on the train and stuff, but sometimes I just can't wait for the paperback. Have you tried the Airhead one? It was a quick read in my opinion and young adult but still nice to read. I like Meg Cabot books, I even got some Princess Diaries.

I did actually read all 3 of the Heather Wells Murder Mysteries I loved them. Did you read the Queen of Babble ones? Those were good and funny.

Citizen Erase by Muse Break me in, teach us to cheat And to lie, cover up What shouldn't be shared And the truth's unwinding Scraping away at my mind Please stop asking me to describe For one moment I wish you'd hold your stage With no feelings at all Open minded I'm sure I used to be so free Self expressed, exhausting for all To see and to be What you want and what you need The truth's unwinding Scraping away at my mind Please stop asking me to describe For one moment I wish you'd hold your stage With no feelings at all Open minded I'm sure I used to be so free For one moment I wish you'd hold your stage With no feelings at all Open minded I'm sure I used to be so free Wash me away Clean your body of me Erase all the memories They will only bring us pain And I've seen, all I'll ever need If you ever read 1984 or Brave New World, or maybe have some apocaliptical view to the world this is the Muse song you'de love. I love the song, played live if possible there is a cross over from guitar into piano right before the last verse and it's so beautiful and moving it almost gets me to tear up

I liked the adaptation of Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. Loved the book more but the film was good. They didn't even cut the whole whale vs petunia bowl part for the people who read the books this is actually very important in the future if they ever do get to film the other books The harry potter adaptations are OK, but then I miss parts that are so important in the whole series. I've known people who haven't read the books to love the films. Me, I just go to see them as mindlessly as I can. The last adaptation I saw was Confessions of a Shopaholic. Honestly just went to see Hugh Dancy in it. (He's the guy who plays Grigg in The Jane Austen book club adaptation). It was funny, but I think it was mostly because it was ages since I read the book. Anyone got any thought about these adaptations?

I'm 26 and a half(almost) I like seeing age as a possitive thing, once past 21 (the age I hated to be all year long) I just doesn't bother anymore

Maybe it's good then to read this book before I go to Hamlet again in August? Ok not going to be all ooh Hamlet as a play then but Jude Law as Hamlet, like I did with David Tennant as Hamlet but maybe getting into the play and more behind the scenes would be nice. But the description of before the beginning and in between gives me a little the feel of Wicked by Gregory Maguire but then going to the Wizard of Oz instead of a classic Hamlet
-
I've got a whole Hamlet flashback with the names Rosencrantz and Guildenstern

According to Katie Fisher, there were two types of people in the world: those who attended high school reunions, and those who did not. The Penalty Box -Deirdre Martin
