For me it has to be Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin and The Ghost by Danielle Steel. Pride and Prejudice I am currently reading this book at the moment and I think it is a beautiful love story. I love the film (one with Keira Knightly) and have seen it many times. I love to see the relationship between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy progress . The Ghost This is an amazing book which I have read and re-read many times . It ia about a man named Charles who is left heart broken after the sudden end to his marriage. He rents a chateau in New England where he feels the presence of Sarah a woman who died there a few centuries ago. He finds her diaries which in time mend his broken heart and help him to love again. It is a beautiful story and I enjoy it more every time I read it . I would like to read The Time Travellers Wife as I saw a clip for the movie and it looks brilliant .

Trying to Save Piggy Sneed by John Irving Here is a treat for John Irving addicts and a perfect introduction to his work for the uninitiated. In his spirited opening piece, Irving explains how he became a writer. There following six scintillating stories written over the twenty years, including The Pension Grillparzer, previously only to be found inside The World According to Garp, and now given it's first independent airing. The collection ends with a homage to Charles Dickens, of which the Sunday Telegraph said, 'so rousingly old-fashioned, so intelligent,so heart-felt, so politically incorrect and so correct in every way that matters, that it makes you want to dance naked through the streets brandishing a copy of Great Expectations' My Thoughts Once again another amazing read by John Irving. I really enjoyed reading this book and the short stories were brilliant especially The Pension Grillparzer which I had read before in The World According to Garp. I also enjoyed reading Weary Kingdom and Other People's Dreams. I won't go into much detail with regards to the stories as they are short. I would definetly recommend this book 10/10

Where is your favourite reading place?

I love to read on the sofa while my OH plays his Xbox and I read every night in bed. My work is not that busy just now so I get to read everyday and as I have my own office its really quiet. I used to love reading in the bath, but we only have a walk in shower so i can't wait until we get our new bathroom . -
I like to keep all the books I read so I buy my books instead of going to the library, I have a big collection so my OH is going to build me a bigger bookcase . I'm a bit funny about lending anyone my books in case they get damaged or lost . I would never throw out or sell a book even if I didn't enjoy it.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - FILM
SweetiiPie85 replied to Kell's topic in Music / TV / Films
I was a bit disappointed as some great parts which were in the book were left out of the film or had been changed (which was annoying). I went to see the film at the Imax cinema - which was the only cinema in Scotland showing the film in 3D - this was very very disappointing as the only part of the film which showed 3D was the first 10 MINUTES - they could have at least had the action parts in 3D. I don't think they gave the ending justice as there could have been alot more action. There was a guy maybe mid 50s and two women sitting next to us who were so annoying - they laughed constantly - but it wasn't just a giggle, they laughed like they were watching their favorite comedian . I did enjoy the film some parts were fantastic and really funny, I just think it could have been much better. -

The Savage Garden by Mark Mills. Behind a villa in the heart of Tuscany lies a Renaissance garden of enchanting beauty. Its grottoes, pagan statues and classical inscriptions seem to have a secret life of their own -- and a secret message, too, for those with eyes to read it. Young scholar Adam Strickland is just such a person. Arriving in 1958, he finds the Docci family, their house and the unique garden as seductive as each other. But post-War Italy is still a strange, even dangerous place, and the Doccis have some dark skeletons hidden away which Adam finds himself compelled to investigate. Before this mysterious and beautiful summer ends, Adam will uncover two stories of love, revenge and murder, separated by 400 years! but is another tragedy about to be added to the villa's cursed past? I found it hard to get into this book so I am going to leave it for now and read it once i'm back from my holidays.

Later, when it was over, he cast his thoughts back to that sun-struck May day in Cambridge - where it had all begun - and asked himself whether he would have done anything differently, knowing what he now did. The Savage Garden by Mark Mills
