really? That's jolly good! -excited- I shall put it on my list! I will never finish this list ever. For every book I read, I add two more. xD DAMN!

Finished The Kite Runner. Brilliant story. Brilliant. It's so sad and it's such a unique story, almost made me cry. It has very engaging twists in the plot too- which are just MIND-BLOWING by the way. Almost had a heartattack when I was like, And At the same time. Anyways. It IS very engaging and it touches your heart. It made me think that, these things DO happen. Some of the parts of the story were just..very disturbing. The author's writing creates very disturbing and memorable images. Without them, the book wouldn't be what it is. A bloody masterpiece. Definitely one of my favourites. 10/10- can't find anything bad about it.

Aw, Time Traveler's Wife comes out in 4 days for you guys. I'm so sad and jealous. No worries, 3 more months til it comes out here! Yayy.. Alice in Wonderland is coming out in March, can't wait for that either! And also New Moon in November, dunno if I'll be seeing that though. Annnd The Hobbit in a few years! Woo!
-
Ahh yeah, I get it, no worries. That would be interesting! I love it when authors go into the baddie's mind for about a chapter or two, it's interesting and definitely different, and you get to know a bit of their history and WHY they're doing things they are doing, ay? interesting.

^SNAP! Imagine that. "Bite me, Legolas Greenleaf!"... "Real elves SPARKLE" Anyways..I've read it about 3 and a half times myself. It's been a while since I've read it though.

I'm now an 18 year old Afghan who is in a car ride to go to Jalalabad or something like that with his courageous father Baba.
-
Haha xD How can you remember that. Jeez. How many times EXACTLY have you read it?
-
OH yes Goldberry. That's the one. And I also liked the horses, if that counts. Brego and Shadowfax are awesome. And that other white one that Legolas took from the Riders. Forgot the name. And I REALLY loved the girls! Eowyn, Arwen, Galadriel. They're all so strong and magical. I love them.
-
mm-hm, Yeah, it's very interesting to know the history of the evil dudes, sometimes you relate to them, it's very intriguing. Does that mean that the characters from Generation Dead are the "bad guys" then? That it's written from the bad guy's point of view?

I loved the lady that Tom Bombadil was with. What was her name? I completely forgot. Something like Lily... something... I have no idea. I loved the song that Tom always sung, and it was about her. Forgot the lyrics to that one as well. I really SHOULD re-read!

Wait wait wait wait...There's a Toy Story THREE? WHAT? Gosh. They really ARE running out of ideas.
-
THAT'S THE ONE! Thanks for refreshing my mind. I haven't actually checked these out yet, but I plan to buy them when I have the money. I saw a Tolkien book in some shop the other week! I think it was a new book cause I have never seen it before, and it was displayed at the front of the shop which means it MIGHT'VE been a new book. Not sure though. Haha, I remember I promised myself to read The Silmarillion, The Hobbit and LOTR one after the other at the start of each year. I only ever did it one..and a half times. I never got around to finishing The Silmarillion the second year, and I was too busy for LOTR. I'll try again this year maybe, it HAS been a while..
-
Ooh, I'm VERY intrigued now. I love those kind of characters, the ones that don't feel generic and poorly described and stuff like that. I'll definitely put this up on my list then! Thanks for that BookJumper!
-
Yeah you should. It WAS verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry boring at some bits and is hard to actually get into but it was very interesting know all about Middle Earth and the Eldar and stuff. Very. What other stuff did Tolkien write anyway? Apart from LOTR, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion and the Children of Hurin. Oh, and the countless children books that he did, apart from that, what else did he write? I can't quite remember. Wasn't there a series called Untold..tales...of...Middle Earth or something like that?
-
^They're on my list, BookBee and I'm looking forward to reading them, I love Jodi Picoult. BookJumper, that Generation Dead book REALLLLY sounds interesting. I looked it up and I wanna read the book now! Thanks. I looked it up in our library catalogue though, and it said that it's Horror, i suppose they're wrong? Either way, I'll still wanna read it.

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

I prefer the book ending. That's WHY it's called My Sister's Keeper, and I thought the movie ending was a bit...I dunno.. disrespectful. -shrug- -
The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
MissWhitlock replied to Nollaig's topic in Children's / Young Adult
Who is Victoria now then? That's a bit weird.. I hope they get someone with ACTUAL flaming red hair. Knowing Twilight, probably not though. Same here. Every single time Edward came in everyone just screamed like "OHMYGODHE'SSOHOT" "BITEME" "BANGMEEDWARDCULLEN" Me: "Ohh my gooddd, shut the hell up before I come at you with a pickaxe." And anyway...he's not THAT hot. (no offense) I actually want to see the New Moon movie but I am definitely not watching it in the theatres where thousands of rabid twihards will scream and shout at the screen. If I DO watch in the cinemas, I will come with a chainsaw and threaten to chainsaw everyone to death if they start squealing about how hot Edward is or how much they want him to come back. I am serious. -
Getting The Girl and I Am The Messenger sound good! I looked them up in Amazon and read some of the reviews and alot of people liked the books, and Markus Zusak as an author himself so I'll definitely give it a go. Thanks, Sara.

I added 14 books to my list. I've been wanting to put those books in my list for ages but have restraining myself because..well if I just keep adding and adding books, It won't feel like I'm doing any progress, will it? I like mostly fantasy, YA and Chick-lit and drama fiction stuff like Jodi Picoult and stuff like that, but anything will do.

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

I second that. It was so sad. It was sad because I KNEW what was gonna happen, I knew that . I pretty much cried throughout the whole movie, like I did with the book. And I was glad that I did. They got pretty much everything right though. Like, the FEEL of it, not just the characters and what's there and what's not there. The feel of it was right, like it was just like the book. I saw that they tried to do the different perspective things, but they didn't really do the different times bit. Like, the history, how they flashback and stuff. They tried, but I think it could've been better. It was awesome. They didn't try too hard, and it wasn't completely dispassionate either. Apart from the ending, I don't see why they had to do that. It could've been better if it wasn't changed. -
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - FILM
MissWhitlock replied to Kell's topic in Music / TV / Films
I would think..more like HOPE that that part would be in the first part of the seventh one. but...Hmm... I dunno though. Cause in the book, But I do hope that they'll include it in there. Even if its just a background introduction thing, it'd be better than nothing. -
Things I Want my Daughters to Know by Elizabeth Noble Hmmm. Where to start? Well, I guess the plot is pretty good, a Mum dying of cancer and giving her daughters goodbye letters and her journals...it was sad at the start, and at the end but the middle wasn't really and I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Like, at some bits I just wasn't interested. Like, I was more interested in the letters, the journals and like, my favourite character (amanda) but they were only there like, a couple of times. It was more about the life of the sisters, and I got bored of it after a while. BUT. The ending makes up for all the boring wasted bits. The ending was what I was expecting of books like these. I heard that this book really made people cry aLOT and I expected myself to just bawl my eyes out throughout the whole book, but I guess it just didn't live up to my expectations. (I DID bawl at the end though) Twas good anyway. 7/10 should do it.

I cannot wait. I really DO hope that they get it right. I'm enraged, however that PJ isn't directing it. Enraged. Why can't he just bloody make time for it? It's The Hobbit! But that aside, I was hoping that the same actors would do the same roles, Ian Holm=Bilbo, Ian McKellen=Gandalf, and blahbluhblah, but apparently not. Ian Holm is apparently too old, and so is Christopher Lee, so they're casting a new Bilbo and Saruman. Hopefully they're good enough. *fingers crossed*

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - FILM
MissWhitlock replied to Kell's topic in Music / TV / Films
Huh. that's weird. because in that part where Draco and Harry were in the bathroom, they didn't utter a spell at all, apart from Sectumsepra. weiiird. -
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - FILM
MissWhitlock replied to Kell's topic in Music / TV / Films
Yeah, I remember this as a group of memories that Snape gave Harry in the last book. I actually LIKED the film though. Sure, they missed out on a LOT of important bits that would've been important for the next movies, but it was good. for ONCE, I think its better as an adaptation than just a movie. I was annoyed by the little things they got wrong though. It's always the little things. Like, Dumbly's wand being in his office, wtf? And it being all knobby and stuff. Whatever happened to just a stick with a handle? And the Avada Kedavra that Snape did was blue, and that's stupid because all Harry remembers of the day his parents died was a flash of GREEN light. Don't get me started with Harry's eyes. I mean, you'd think they'd change it after the seventh book came out, I mean seriously. AND. In the Astronomy Tower, how Dumbly told Harry to go down..What happened to the Invisibility Cloak and Dumbly doing the Petrificus Totalus on him. That would've been a LOT powerful that just Snape putting his finger to his lips. And how Harry got rescued from the train was annoying. It's not WHO it was, its just that Luna did some charm to take it off, and don't they understand?! It's one of the HALLOWS for god's sake, you CAN'T take it off with a charm. Ugh. These LITTLE things make me think that they haven't read the books at all.
