  1. I agree! I didn't even watch it to the end it was that bad.
  2. I know how you feel, I was feeling a bit sad on Saturday so I ventured in to Borders, what a mistake!
  3. I am enjoying it actually. I haven't been getting much reading done in the evenings as I have been too tired so I have been reading a bit in the morning Some 'interesting' new characters have been introduced which is giving the main charaters people to bounce off if that makes any sense?
  4. This is my first attempt at a review, so here goes... Dime Store Magic – Kelley Armstrong Play.com review: Paige Winterbourne is a witch. Not that you'd notice - no warts, no green skin, no cute little wiggle of the nose whenever she casts a spell. No, most of the time she's just a normal 23-year- old girl; works too hard, worries about her weight, wonders if she'll ever find a boyfriend. Okay, so she does have an adopted teenage daughter, Savannah, who wants to raise her black witch of a mother from the dead. And who is being stalked by a telekinetic half-demon and an all-powerful cabal of sorcerers. But other than that, Paige has a really ordinary life. That is, until the neighbours find out who she is, and all hell breaks loose. Literally... I started to read this book straight after I had read Bitten and Stolen, the first two books from the Women of the Underworld series. I was a bit apprehensive about Dime Store Magic as although we had met both Paige and Savannah in the previous book, the reader didn’t really get a chance to build a rapport with them. Paige is a very different heroine to Elena and although I liked her, I think that I would have liked it had she been more feisty as she didn’t seem as ‘kick-ass’ at her werewolf predecessor. I liked the introduction of Lucas Cortez and even thought his relationship with Paige was inevitable, I still look forward to reading about him in the future Although most of the characters are supernatural, I still connected with them on a ‘human’ level as they were all dealing with their day to day issues which gave the book more depth. Dime Store Magic is fast paced and has a modern feel to it. I found the plot slightly predictable, but I would still recommend this book as it was an enjoyable read. Mark: 7/10
  5. 1984 is actually one of my favourite books although I know that a lot of people on here aren't too keen on it. I guess it is like marmite, you either love it or you hate it We do have similar tastes Charm! If you can ever think of anything that you think I might enjoy, let me know as I am always looking for new book suggestions. I can read Twilight over and over again Stephenie. If I ever lose my reading mojo, I read one of the Twilight saga and it comes back
  6. Well I thought that I would start one of these to keep track of that I have read this year. So far, I have read the following (in no particular order): Twilight - Stephenie Meyer New Moon - Stephenie Meyer Eclipse - Stephenie Meyer Breaking Dawn - Stephenie Meyer The Catcher in the Rye - J D Salinger Vulnerable - Amy Lane Dracula - Bram Stoker Interview with a Vampire - Anne Rice Angelas Ashes - Frank McCourt 'Tis - Frank McCourt 1984 - George Orwell Bitten - Kelley Armstrong Stolen - Kelley Armstrong Dime Store Magic - Kelley Armstrong Wicked - Gregory Maguire The Vampire's Seduction - Raven Hart Tietam Brown - Mick Foley There are probably more, but I have a head like a sieve and I can't remember them!
  7. I loved Charmed too, I have all the boxsets so watch them quite often. At least the show came to a definate conclusion. Some shows end, but they haven't tied up the loose ends which is annoying.
  8. I feel the urge to go and put the film on now Well spotted chesilbeach! I hadn't noticed that at all. I will check my book later. Which cover version of the book have you got? Do you think it is different depending on which version of the book you have?
  9. I know what you mean Stephanie. I liked their lunch dates in the book and how he walked her to her lessons etc. He also came to check that she was okay after the biology lesson as she is a bit queezy at the sight of blood which sparked more rivalry with Mike. When he picks her up to take her to school in the book and they get out of the car (RP looks VERY hot at this point in his shades), he puts his arm around her without any hesitation. Considering this is meant to be their first phycial contact, nothing was made of it. I also believe that the meadow scene could have been handled a bit better. She touches his skin etc for the first time here in the book, this isn't covered at all in the film.
  10. The release date is in the thread about films you want to see. The trailer is on You Tube so it should be out pretty soon.
  11. In my opinion, the falling in love part is the best bit of the book so I did miss that in the film. I do love the film though as I like to hold the film and the book as seperate things in my head. As for RP playing Edward, I think he did a brilliant job. I know people moan about him, but everyone builds up their own image of how he will be in their head so whoever played the part wouldn't have lived up to everyones expectations.
  12. I had a bbq tonight - yummy!
  13. I am glad you had a good day! My appreciation of all things pink is a recent thing, but I am pleased that you approve :)

  14. This has been on my TBR pile for a while, but I don't think that I will read it now!
  15. :hbsign: Bookjumper! Hope you are having a lovely day.
  16. If I hadn't read the book, I don't think that the trailer would make me think that I HAD to see the film. I will go and see it though.
  17. First point of call would be bookhopper.com which is a free swapping site. I would then try green met or e bay. Failing that, I would probably buy new from Borders or Sainsburys! If I am in town, I always have a good root around the charity shops.
  18. I really enjoyed this book, not for the way that it is written, but more for the messages and meanings it portrays.
  19. Yay! It took them a while to get there :)

  20. Definately. I saw the trailer, but it just said 'Coming Soon', so I am not sure when it is actually out. I will be definately be seeing that and Harry Potter next I think.
  21. The one where he is a train robber? My b/f doesn't want to see it, but I think that I may have to force him!
  22. Looks brilliant! I love all of Johnny's films, but I must admit that I do prefer his earlier stuff. I really love What's Eating Gilbert Grape (DiCaprio is good in that too) as well as Edward Scissorhands, Benny & Joon, Fear & Loathing & Sleepy Hollow! There are so many to choose from. He choses which films he does well I think.
  23. I will! I am going on holiday the first week in July, so I was planning on taking it with me to read while I am away. Will it be a good holiday read?
  24. Probably becuase he did such an amazing job with Fear & Loathing!!
  25. If they do as well as they did with Fear and Loating it should be good! Think that I am going to see if I can get a copy of The Rum Diary now.
