I loved her books! Want to re-read them in English one day, guess they must be even better than the German version. Gave my Hostmum Cross Stitch for her birthday yesterday, hope she'll like it
-
They are actually, I worked in a bookshop for 3 years and we had quite a lot of kids/teenagers coming in. I think you just have to see that they usually haven't got loads of money to spend and also spend most of their time hanging over books in school and maybe even at home for homework. And as much as I love books, sometimes I can't be bothered to read, especially when I already did some studying. But if you look at some teenage fiction books you can see that there must be teenagers reading as they sell extraordinary well like Harry Potter or Twilight

As far as I know they usually put Little Women and Good Wives into one book now, so I guess they might do the same with Little Men and Aunt Jo's Scrap-Bag?
-
I love so many... Narnia History Boys Easy Virtue Little Women Bridget Jones Stardust ...
-
I think I read them a few years ago when my English wasn't good at all so I can't really remember anything from the books. But there was a comic series a couple of years ago about Little Women and Jo's Boys that I loved to watch: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168283/ Just not sure if there is an English version of it, just know they showed it on German TV But I really want to reread all of the books at some point as I always loved the story!

I just bought Anna Karenina yesterday and quite like it so far. Had two different editions to choose from and bought the Penguin Classics one. But it was interesting to see how different translations can be as I compared the first page of both editions
-
Yes, but I think somewhere it said that you just need one hand to turn over the page, so it shouldn't be too bad (or at least I hope so). And it is quite pricey, that's why I haven't got one yet...

I found this one the other day and thought it looks fantastic: http://www.thebookseat.co.uk/ Wrote them a mail to ask where to buy them and got several links: http://www.juniperaberdeen.co.uk/Products.asp?ManufacturerID=66&CategoryID=2 http://www.treehouseblue.co.uk/acatalog/the_book_seat_bean_bag.html Thought I share it with you as it looks great, haven't tried it yet though. But I guess I'll buy one in a few weeks (pink one please ) Is there maybe someone who's got one?

Yes, peanuts and toffee. Yummieeee

I think the "newest" food I discovered was a "Starbar" from Cadburys. Slowly munching my way through British chocolate...
-
Are there any foods that you have never ever tried?
Chrissi replied to tbain's topic in Food, Cooking & Recipes
Yummie Bananas! I haven't tried seafood and loads of other stuff as I have been veggie since I've been 10. Most of the stuff makes me sick just looking at it anyway Other than that I actually don't know... -
Ohhh, that sounds even better!!!! But I still feel sick I'm actually not religious at all but I could try to do the lent thing for my diet Giving up meat wouldn't be a problem as I'm veggi anyway, but I'm eating far too much chocolate right now! We'll see how that goes...

Oh really? That is very interesting as I haven't read the book! I think the film was quite well made, but I would have liked it better if Benjamin Button or The Reader would have gotten more prizes. But there you go... Still I'm glad that Kate Winslet got her's and I think it's very good that Heath Ledger got one as well. He really freaked me out when I was watching Batmen!

I made some because the kids wanted some. Definitely ate too many! But I like them sweet...Nutella... yum yum
-
Yeah, I would be a bit scared of kicking them all the time, but having them on the sides would be great. Although I guess I would fall down the stairs a lot of times when I'm trying to get a book

Sadly I haven't got loads of space here (altough the Family has put up another shelf in my room after I asked them ^^) so there is not much to see. In my room in Germany I've got 2 80x100 cm Billys from Ikea which are stuffed and I think there are some books in boxes somewhere... But I found everyones dream a few weeks ago: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ny/at-europe/at-europe-london-closeup-the-amazing-staircase-042543 Soooo want to have that

No, can't do it as I will get sick. Trains are usually ok. These straps look quite good, might give them a try at some point.

Oh yes, these Think! ads freak me out all the time I saw a Clerasil one the other day had just had to laugh because it was so funny You can see a few kids/teens waiting in a cinema or whatever and this one boy looks over to this girl who is using lipstick. He then goes over and says "Hi, can I borrow your lipstick?" She looks at him like "What the..." but say "OK". But instead of grabbing the lipstick he grabs the girl and kisses her It's so stupid

Why do I ALWAYS forget about that??? Just thought what a shame it was I missed it yesterday, but I would have never remembered the iPlayer myself. I really need to start using my brain Anyway () I watched it and found it quite interesting but have to say that this supports my view on Religion again. They say they live according to Gods word, but they don't even know it themselves as they have never read the Bible. It's weird people telling them how to live. That's what I dislike about religions as they always tell you they live according to God's word which is written down in the Bible, but then they go and pick like their favourite bits of it and that's it. Well, I'll come back and moan when I finished reading the Bible, guess it will take me about 2 years to do it

I really want to read it now after I've seen the film. Problem is I want to read it in German, so I'll have to look out for that. I asked my mum to send it in the parcel she just send me, but she said she wouldn't buy it Maybe I'll get it in London. Or I'll ask some of my friends to send it over
-
I liked that book, was an easy read which I need most of the time Haven't read the next ones though. Started the second one but couldn't be bothered at that time. Should do that and send them back to Germany as my mum wants to read them as well But I remember the day when the third one arrived at our bookshop a few days before release. My now exboyfriends younger sister was about 11 at that point and absolutely loved the books, so I took one home before anyone else could get them. She nearly cried when I gave it to her

Well, I was born in Germany where I lived for about 22 years and now I've been in England for 1 1/2 years

Hi! I'm Christina, a 23-year old German girl living in Faversham. I'm "working" as an Au Pair and I'm studying literature and media at the Open University. Hope I'll have lots of fun here (And sorry if there will be any spelling mistakes )
