  1. An Education, pretty good.
  2. How did Patz do in this film, peacefield? Wings of Desire, slow but beautiful.
  3. In response to previous comments: I've already expressed multiple times my love for the 2005 version of P&P. LOTR kicks a**. I'm a fan of all 6 Star Wars. Avatar had a cliche story yes, but the execution made it fresh again. Now back to my most overrated list: Out Of Africa: 7 academy awards including best picture? Seriously?! I barely managed to stay awake during the last 30 minutes. The Remains Of A Day: That was boring too and the main character so annoying. The fact that Never Let Me Go was written by the same guy is what worries me about the film, not Keira Knightley. No Country For Old Men: The film was OK, but I didn't get all the fuss, not to mention winning best picture and adapted screenplay over Atonement. The White Ribbon: Maybe I understand why many went crazy over it, but it really didn't do much for me. When you read comments like "There's no other film like this one" you expect for more. Mad Max: Why is this film iconic? Apart from well-executed stunts, it doesn't offer much.
  4. sex, lies and videotape. Absolutely loved it!
  5. I finished Water For Elephants last night. Since the exams are close, I won't be starting another book any time soon.
  6. Billy Elliot, which I had watched before but in parts, this time as a whole and My Left Foot, which blew me away.
  7. I'm a young veterinarian who works in a circus.
  8. The Hurt Locker. Well-shot and intense. Amazing film...
  9. I absolutely loved the Secret Garden. Such a beautiful ode to nature and life!
  10. Perfume. I don't know why it took me so long to watch, since I read the book in the summer and loved it...anyway, they nailed it!
  11. Welcome to BFC!
  12. 2046. Good...weird...
  13. You mean, because it's Downfall?
  14. I finished it last night, and although I struggled at some parts, it was worth its time. Such a wonderful, tragic story about love and loss and all the pain caused by war. I have to say, I barely knew anything about the American Civil War before I read this and I'm always interested in society of other times, so it worked as a great historical epic too. My favorite characters: Rhett: I liked him from the first minute, because he was unconventional, funny and enjoyed annoying the others. It was so sad when he became a wreck with all the things that happened. Melanie: Not so much at the beginning, but she turns out so kind, unselfish, supportive and strong-hearted that well, how can you not like her? Will: We didn't see much of him, but I really liked him because he was so supportive and good-hearted and there was a certain sense of calmness about him, if you understand what I mean. Mammy: Well, what can I say about her? She was something else, wasn't she? About Scarlett. I admired her strength and determination, but overall she comes off as an unlikable character. She's selfish, often foolish , she tortures the people who love her and has wrong priorities in her life, and of course she's ruined in the end by these things. I found interesting the way Mitchell builds the story. All the characters' actions are like pieces of puzzle that unite in the end. And some last thoughts: I think Ellen was only half happy in her life. Scarlett always saw her as a saintly figure, but I think that this was mostly due to the fact that half her life was drained out of her when Phillipe died, after all she called for him in her deathbed. I didn't really like the film. This probably sounds weird, but the melodramatism of it put me off. The only truly good thing about it is that it made me appreciate Mammy (thanks to Hattie McDaniel, who really stole every scene she was in).
  15. I've never thrown away anything, but I have a book that temps me to do so (or at least I must get rid of it somehow). I read it when I was about 11 because we did a part of it in class and I really liked it and the protagonist was in the same age. But in the end of the book, it is implied that she's about to be raped and that upset me, especially considering my age then. And whenever I think about it I get a little upset.
  16. I finished Gone With The Wind last night and I started Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen today. I've read 1/4 of the book.
  17. The Fall I suppose

  23. I would call it easy.
  24. Looking forward to it. So, maybe I won't be done with GWTW till Saturday, but I've reached page 412.
