  1. I'm having a shocker of a year as far as reading goes. I'm still getting a few things sorted in my life, meanwhile I've read a few books and still have some waiting to be read.
  2. Thanks everyone! I love your third pic Echo.
  3. I went down to the south coast over Easter and took these. We also spotted a seal close up on some rocks, I'm not sure if he was sick or injured because he was in the same spot the next day and hadn't appeared to have moved.. http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/5630/71768009.jpg http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/1849/53183366.jpg http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/9086/61186930.jpg
  4. I've given up on The Little Friend I so badly wanted to like it but I just can't. It started off so well but the plot just goes nowhere in totally unrelated tangents it made me so frustrated. Something Rotten I read about 70 pages but it's just not my cup of tea..
  5. Lilywhite - I saw Paranormal Activity at the cinemas with my sister and there were only three other people in there, certainly added to the eerie-ness! Last movie I watched was Mister Lonely was a tad weird but I love Harmony Korine films.
  6. It's on my TBR! I'll get around to it someday...
  7. Hmm finished 'Private Dancer' yesterday afternoon, was interesting to learn about Thai nightlife and what really goes on, it was a quick and easy read but I didn't expect it to end the way it did. I reborrowed The 'Little Friend' as I really want to get it finished. Also got 'Something Rotten' by Jasper Fforde as I keep hearing good things about him on here. And also 'The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters', it sounds interesting there was another book there which I think may carry on from this one, hope I picked up the right one!
  8. Finished 'Black Ice' last night which was a good read, I liked that it was set in greater western Sydney so I could relate to a lot of the places that were mentioned in the book. It's rare that Australian books are set out here, it's usually the city or Melbourne. Have started on Private Dancer and am liking it so far, I like how it goes from one characters version of events to the other's version without being too repetitive.
  9. Urghh I haven't read anything since my last post. I had a few things to sort out in my life. I've missed reading and I miss being able to buy books, library ones just aren't the same as fresh glossy new ones. One thing I still need is a job, it's soul destroying getting rejection emails one after the other. I gave up on all three books I last borrowed, I would like to finish 'The Little Friend' by Donna Tartt though. I've started on a new batch I'll hopefully finish, not off to a great start this year I want to beat my 40 something books I read last year.
  10. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, before that 2001: A Space Odyssey and before that, Pleasantville
  11. Both books are hard to get a hold of I've found, House of Leaves is apparently not being reprinted anytime soon according to the guy in Dymocks as he was after it as well. The books I'm reading at the moment I've borrowed from the library, I'm half way through Die A Little but have given up, it's a chore to get through. Dog Boy is going okay, a little slow moving. I've started Company which is quite entertaining, it's just what I need right now.
  12. No Country for Old Men, absolutely hated the way it was written, I know it was meant to be constant stop start with little punctuation but the excessive use of 'and' infuriated me. I think I counted about 8 ands in one single sentence. The film however is so much better, love love love the cinematography.
  13. AstronomyCast is a great podcast too listen to if anyone is interested, they have weekly episodes on a whole heap of topics
  14. The only Australian aurthor whose one book I've really enjoyed is Joan Lindsay's 'Picnic at Hanging Rock'. When I was younger I loved reading Emily Rhodda's books.

  16. Rob Thomas Matchbox 20 Nickleback Green Day Erghh yuck.
  17. Non-paying bidders on ebay. My how they make my blood boil Especially since it's my only source of income at the moment. I got the 'oh sorry I didn't bid on your item, someone else did without my permission' earlier today. So who did then? The dog did it? A ghost? They're a repeat offender from looking at their feedback, some people need a hobby rather than sitting online wasting other peoples time.
  18. Thanks Rawr and Chrissy! I love your second shot CaliLily!
  19. I found a 25 year old manual SLR in a second hand shop the other day, I took a few photos to see if it still worked properly so here's a few I got developed today. I'm quite happy with them!

  21. More than one line but.. We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like
  22. ^^ I noticed the .com site was even cheaper by a few dollars than the .co.uk one as well! I haven't bought anything from them yet but plan on doing a big order soon.
  23. I finished The Bell Jar in one sitting yesterday and have now started on Jane Eyre.
  24. Finally finished Jamaica Inn for what seemed to take forever! I liked it but I think I prefer Rebecca. Having said that I finished The Bell Jar in one day today - I loved loved loved it.
