  1. Agreed. If I had to finish every single book, no matter how much I disliked it, I would never get to read all the things I really want to. I simply don't have enough reading time as it is, to waste on books that aren't worth it.
  2. Those sound like awfully big bookstores. I suppose I'm lucky because my local bookstores only have a few sections and they're very easy to navigate.
  3. I've read it and loved Twilight. The rest of the saga was alright until... the fourth book which will not be named...
  4. I love tea. As a baby I refused to drink milk, so my mother gave me Rooibos (red bush) tea, instead. I still drink several cups a day.
  5. Hello, Janet. I hope you are doing well. :D

I noticed that you're currently reading The Behaviour of Moths? I've had that book on my wishlist for ages, but haven't gotten around to actually ordering it yet. Are you enjoying it?

  6. I like being surrounded by books, so I tend to collect every book I can get my hands on. I have, however, recently parted - reluctantly - with quite a few, mainly because they didn't make such a big impact on me or because I knew I would never read/finish them... and I was running out of bookshelf space. I am very cautious about lending my books to others. I've lent a book to my cousin and she never returned it to me - I had to "steal" it from her bookshelf while visiting her once, and the book was in a much worse state than when it had left me. That has made me think twice about lending out my books. I will on the odd occasion let my sister read one of my books. But only because we live in the same house and I can keep an eye on her...
  7. I love your username. Welcome to the forum!
  8. That one definitely makes my list of great love stories. Also, I haven't read it yet, but Love in the Time of Cholera sounds (from the synopsis) to be a very romantic love story.
  9. I think I mentioned this in another thread, but my only complaint about the film is that it seemed much too short to me. I would have liked it to be just a bit longer, as I really enjoyed it. I've never read the books, and after having all the "blanks" filled in for me by someone who has, I don't feel they left out anything that seems particularly important or interesting (to me, anyway). I had no idea who the Half-blood Prince really was, so I was quite surprised at that. I thought Malfoy was simply excellent in this film - previously he seemed like a bit of a background bully to me, so I enjoyed seeing a bit of personality and struggle from him. Voldemort was just fabulous. I loved the extra info on him and his life at Hogwarts. He's probably the best bad guy ever written. And Bellatrix is wow - no one could play her better than Helena-Bonham Carter. Dumbledore also came to the forefront a bit more in this film, and that was interesting to watch. Thinking about it now, though, I don't think Harry and his circle of friends did anything very remarkable in this film... The other characters (and actors) overshadowed them. I thought the film was brilliant, though. Looking forward to the last two.
  10. I think that's probably because the books are aimed at teens and they do have quite a large audience much younger than that, so I've noticed.
  11. The difference is that a mobile phone "book", will never be a real book to me. Furthermore, I don't think one can compare Dickens to what will inevitably end up as being nothing more than a fad - if it does happen. I don't think anything good can come from something like that.
  12. Dear heaven, no. I hope things never come to that...
  13. Welcome to the forums, Nefertete! I find Egyptian history very interesting, myself, and enjoy reading about it. Have fun!
  14. You're all new to me, too, Adam. But, welcome back!

I collect books - if I see an interesting looking book, I have to have it, even more so if the packaging or cover is extra special. I'm also trying to build up a respectable collection of jewelry dolls. They're a bit expensive, though, and I'm very picky, so I only have a few, thus far. I also collect cameo pendants, brooches, etc. I would love to get my hands on an actual cameo as I only have costume versions in my collection, now - although a lot of people are fooled and think they're the real thing!
  16. *waves* Welcome to the forum!
  17. Although, lately I find that books take me longer to finish, simply because I don't have as much time for reading as I want to.
  18. Thou mewling half-faced blind-worm! Now that is not nice...
  19. Hello, Peyton. I love your name, by the way. To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my favourite books, too.
  20. For the book lover who has everything. I love the book shaped boxes, though. I'd love to have one of those. Oh, and that sidetable, Chimera... Way too expensive, but... Me wants it...
  21. Something that annoys me immensely and it happened again, recently: I am very tiny and also very skinny (which isn't as nice a combination as it might sound...). There is nothing wrong with me health wise, it's just the way I am. Now it really bugs me when absolute strangers start a conversation with me (because I work in retail that happens quite a lot), only to suddenly ask me, very seriously too: "You're so thin, do you eat at all?" .... Of course I bloody eat!
  22. Robin McKinley used the phrase "carthagian hell" or "carpathian hell" (I don't remember exactly and I don't have the book with me) a lot in her novel Sunshine. It amused me.
  23. http://www.likecool.com/Cave_Bookshelf--Store--Home.html I think it speaks for itself. Oh and look at the price. So cheap, let's get two each. Okay... Now I've started something... http://www.woohome.com/furniture/speech-bubble-bookshelf This one is actually pretty cool. And this one is what I'd like to have in my own home one day: http://furniturefromhome.com/products/Traditional/CLA-Tall-bookshelf-A201-78H-A Ah, an old fashioned bookshelf. Do you smell that old woody smell? It smells good.
  24. I'm glad you're enjoying The ABC Murders, Bethany. :D

Next up for me, book wise, is The Secret History by Donna Tartt. I'm not that far along with it, yet, but so far I like it and I'm very curious about what will happen next. I've been very excited about reading this book, because I've read so much about it on the forum, so I hope it will live up to my expectations. After that it will most likely be The Vampyre by Tom Holland. I'm aching to read it, though, so I might start it before finishing Secret History . :D

I have five other Agatha Christies to read, also, and they'll be soon to follow.
