It was midnight in Ankh-Morpork's Royal Art Museum.
Unseen Academicals - Terry Pratchett
-
Demon was such a nasty word.
Covet - J R Ward
-
I hope so
although the way I see it, the whole idea of preordering is that you get it before or when it comes out in the shops, otherwise you might as well just get it from a shop...
!
Exactly! According to my little pre-order notebook it's not due out til October 6th or 7th so plenty of time
-
Yay
they didn't email me, though
!
Oh they will :friends0:Maybe it depends on when you pre-ordered it? I think I placed my order the first day it appeared on Amazon.
Have just bought The Lost Book Of Salem and Kevin McCloud's Grand Tour Of Europe - they're both for my mum but I'll read them before I hand the books over
-
Really? I'm sure your local bookstore can order it, but Amazon have The Lost Book of Salem.
The Book Depository also has this book in stock - I just ordered it from there for my mum
-
Got Ballad by Maggie Stiefvater & Covet by J R Ward in the post this morning and just got a dispatch notice from Amazon saying that the new Pratchett 'Unseen Academicals' is on its way
I'm having a book blast from the past at the moment and reading Pennington's Seventeenth Summer by K M Peyton & I have the two sequels, Beethoven's Medal & Pennington's Heir, to read when I've finished.
-
If you use the Book Depository they now accept Paypal as payment which means your card/bank details are never seen by anyone except yourself - hope that helps

Hello
Welcome to the forum!

As for you Lady Scarlett.......pushing and your luck springs to mind right now
Not like I can run fast is it?
I've just spoken to my sister and she says the first record I bought was actually a Toyah single which I then promptly gave to her as a Christmas present one year
-
Wasnt Cars by Gary Numan 1979???
OMG I were 16 then
I shan't say I was only 7 then *runs away fast*
-
I fancied him as well, but my heart belonged to Simon le Bon!
Oooh no, there was something about SlB that creeped me out sometimes
yerr there was sommat about that man ehIt's the bass Sue, can't resist a man who can play bass guitar *swoon*

ScarletBella - I loved Duran Duran!
I did as well, I was madly in love with John Taylor
-
I can't remember for definite but I think it was Duran Duran with A View To A Kill - somebody bought it as a present for my birthday

I'm reading a querky little book by a Russian author, Boris Akunin about a young detective called Erast Fandorin, in the 1870s. Thoroughly enjoyable and I may seek out the rest in the series as there are quite a few.
I've read all the Akunin books except the latest one and think they're great. He also has another series featuring Sister Pelagia which is fairly good
-
Great review Michelle! I pre-ordered this a while ago and really looking forward to reading it
-
Captain Corelli's Mandolin - I just cannot get into that book, no matter how hard I try and I've given up on it permanently. Strangely enough, my mum also couldn't get into it so we have 2 useless copies of the book between us
-
I watched too and really thought it was good, I was also really shocked because the first ep only aired in America last week, so for once we're not behind! Hurrah!
I know, that shocked me as it's most unusual - looking forward to seeing what sort of character Jack Davenport is going to play.
-
Yep, they do - go their website and look for the OnDemand section, they should have it online there
I watched and absolutely loved it, can't wait for next week!

Hey Lauren, welcome to the forum
-
I was out for dinner tonight and had pasta with aubergine, courgette, onion, garlic, pecorino and mozzarella followed by a delicious caramel mousse
-
I had butternut squash, sage & parmesan risotto
-
Did you not notice Edward's elaborate hair-do? Hair gel doesn't fall from the skies, you know.
Rosalie and Jasper's extremely bad bleach jobs cost a fair penny too
-
Well, I should get my copy tomorrow hopefully. When I've finished the 6 books I seem to have on the go just now I shall start on it and let you know how I get on
-
Worth a try, if you're really not enjoying it just now there's no point forcing yourself to read it
