  1. Had a lazy day today - got my hair cut and coloured, and then chilled out and read a book. Lovely.
  2. Oh dear. 2/10 http://blog.waterstones.com/2013/04/waterstones-week-in-books-quiz-19th-april-2013-2/
  3. I bought The Wild Places for my partner for Christmas a few years ago, because I'd read an article or heard an interview with him, and he'd talked about his friend Roger Deakin, who is another author my partner enjoys reading. He loved The Wild Places so I've been meaning to read it ever since, so thanks to your reminder, I'll think about starting it sooner rather than later now.
  4. You're welcome. Glad to hear you're enjoying the Findings - one of my top five reads of last year, I thought it was beautiful.
  5. ^I downloaded that as a freebie at the same time, so I've got that one to look forward to now.
  6. We watched Thor this evening - I quite enjoyed it, despite the fact that comic book adaptations are not usually my sort of thing!
  7. I've bought the new Jo Wheatley (Great British Bake Off series 2 winner) book today, and have already made one of the recipes, and also finished reading The Time Machine by H. G. Wells, which I kind of enjoyed - not great but pretty good.
  8. Apple Candle light or fire light?
  9. Dog Almonds or walnuts?
  10. But at least you know now, so it's not sat on the shelf taunting you any more!
  11. Photograph. Da Vinci or Van Gogh?
  12. Nor me (scared of heights). Never have I ever met a celebrity chef.
  13. Sand Pasta or rice?
  14. Happy Birthday, Hayley. Hope you have a smashing day :)

  15. I have. Never have I ever cooked a steak.
  16. Labrador Darts or skittles?
  17. Oh don't say that!!! I was hoping it was going to be good
  18. Finished a very average, very short novella which was a Kindle freebie, but very underwhelmed by it, and have now started a good old fashioned classic - The Time Machine by H. G. Wells.
  19. I've got a couple of non-fiction books I can recommend. Firstly, probably my favourite travel writer, Eric Newby, and the book Slowly Down The Ganges where he and his wife travel down the Indian holy river. Secondly, I'd go for a book I read about 15 years ago, and although a bit dry in places, it recounts a fascinating journey and was one of the first books I'd ever read about China - The River at the Centre of the World: A Journey Up the Yangtze, and Back in Chinese Time by Simon Winchester.
  20. One of the YA books that still sticks with me a couple of years on and I thought was a fantastic story was Stolen by Lucy Christopher and certainly left me thinking about the truth for a while afterwards.
  21. Yes, it's quite interesting, isn't it? I knew most of the 10 listed, but there were a couple of new ones, but I love that sort of book, so looking forward to getting a copy at some point.
  22. Good to see you enjoyed Twenties Girl, Athena. I actually prefer Kinsella's stand alone novels to the Shopaholic series.
  23. Left over vegetable lasagne from last night
  24. I love the sound of Death at Wentwater Court, Ruth - added to my wish list!
  25. ^Me, me, me!!! We're just discussing that we'll have to watch it live tonight instead of recording it and watching it later in the week, as I don't want to risk spoilers.
