  4. I scrapbook As for tips I'd say, start with making pages at 6x6 or 8x8 as 12x12 can be a bit daunting if you're just a beginner, I started with 8x8, it's a good size to fit a few photos on and a title or some writing, and I've stuck with that size as I like it so much. Another thing I did at first was go through the galleries at UKScrappers and save layouts you like and replicate them, it's a good way to get the hang of things, without having to over think it too much, and then as you get more confident, just take aspects of layout you like or create your own from scratch. As for things to buy I'd say you need coloured card/patterned paper, lettering for titles, flowers/gems/ribbon/stickers (embellishments they're called) basically just to add to the layout and fill it in around the pictures. I personally like to use flowers and ribbons on mine most of the time, so I have lots of different types so I can match them with what I'm doing, but you'll build up whatever you like over time. Ebay will have lots of patterned paper cut to which ever size you chose and that's a good place to start, but there are proper craft shops online, such as Just A Memory, Charmed Cards & Crafts (also a lovely crafting forum there too) and Sarah's Cards. There are also a couple of scrapbook magazines that you can get each month in WH Smith, and they usually have freebies, and good ideas for projects. Another thing would be, don't ever use original photos, scan them and print them off, because sometimes mistakes happen and you cut too small, or some other disaster and you've lost a photo you can never replace, so just be careful of that I'd just say though, it can become a very expensive hobby, as craft stuff is pretty pricey, so start small, and build things up as you get more confident, and use the UKScrapper forums because they can be really informative for good ideas, cheap places etc. Most of all, if you decide to do it, have fun! I really love looking at pages I've made of my family Hope this helps!

  16. I'm another that it varies for, could be 7 or 8 in one week, or it could be 2 weeks for 1 books, just depends what's going on and how interested in the book I am. I'd say an average is about 3 or 4 a week.

  19. Light On Snow by Anita Shreve No. of pages: 272 Rating: 4/5 Synopsis: The events of a December afternoon, during which a father and his daughter find an abandoned infant in the snow, will forever alter the 12-year-old girls understanding of the world and the adults who inhabit it: a father who has taken great pains to remove himself from society in order to put an unthinkable tragedy behind him; a young woman who must live with the consequences of the terrible choices she has made; and a detective whose cleverness is exceeded only by his sense of justice. Written from the point of view of 30-year-old Nicky as she recalls the vivid images of that fateful December, her tale is one of love and courage, of tragedy and redemption, and of the ways in which the human heart always seeks to heal itself. Review: When 12 year old Nicky and her her father find an abandoned newborn baby in the snowy forest one night while they're out walking, they don't realise it's the start of a life changing event... I read this book about 3 years ago, and for some reason I didn't really think much of it. So when I decided to re-read it, it was pretty much just to confirm that it's not something I wanted to keep. But I was surprised to find I enjoyed it much more this time, and I read it in only two sittings. It's a sad story, full of longing and regrets, but I think the characters start to come to terms with their own stories near the end, and that was nice to see, although I would like to have seen just a little bit more of the story wrapped up.
  20. Yes, it took me a while to get into, but was a great read. No, not a girly book, but it's my favourite book ever, so give it a try!
  21. I'm a 12 yr old girl, who while walking with my dad in the snow found a baby on the forest floor
  22. Totally agree, I loved the book, though the film was shockingly bad, which is such a shame because it had the potential to be great
