  1. It did not look that long on the hanger!! Yeah definitely a winter look I think, with a black cardigan over it to tone it down and stop it looking like I'm wearing some 6'4 fella's shirt Today I wore my Mantaray kite dress - this dress (much bigger on me than the model lol but I quite like it on my curves!) is from Debenhams originally but I actually got it second hand on Ebay for like 7 euro, which is a lot cheaper than it originally was! I absolutely adore it. I love the sky, and I think this dress just looks so stormy and blustery, but because it's a light shirt dress it's good for summer or winter.
  2. I don't think so no! Interesting name for a clothing brand... This morning I am wearing my Grumpy care bear onesie!
  3. Both precise thoughts I had about it haha, it has been my lounging-with-leggings shirt for the last couple days. Haven't yet tried the knotted thing... not sure how that will look on me as I'm not thin, but I might give it a go.
  4. Currently reading The Cry by Helen Fitzgerald and it is SUPERB. Much much prefer it to The Exit, which was great but I didn't completely love. She's a fantastic writer. Might jump straight into The Donor after this one.
  5. Overcast and very grey, but not cold!
  6. Whoops you posted while I was replying so I missed your original one. I love rustic colours too, there's been a surprising amount of rustic going on in penneys for summer time, I picked up a lovely scarf with kind of burnt orange and brown on it, and creamy sort of zig-zag and arrow patterning with a bit of a fringe, will be lovely in winter!
  7. Oooh you sound so colourful! Nice - I have a black and white checked shirt that I recently got too, so I've been rocking a similar look over the last week or so Fat Face?! Today I am wearing a cream top with black floral print which I thought was black and white when I bought it, so now I'm not as sure about it but oh well! Wearing it with black black and more black - skirt, tights, shoes and cardi
  8. I bought a lovely red and black one in primark the other day but it's super long (which I didn't realise at the time) so I now have no idea how to wear it, it looks really oversized on me! I'm thinking I'm gonna have to wear it maybe over a black dress and under a black cardi, for a sort of red/black checked border peeking out. I dunno really! Mental note, always try things on. (In my defence they will literally turning the lights off to close the store! )
  9. Really? Yikes :/
  10. I finished The Toymaker by Jeremy De Quidt a couple of hours ago - I had a couple of issues with it but they mostly relate to wanting more! Very unusual and immersive read. No idea what's up next, but I gotta choose carefully because my mojo is touchy!
  11. For a second I thought that said 'I hate Primark' and I was like Haha I wear black a lot too, although I've gotten some checkered/plaid shirts recently that are a bit brighter I looooove the sound of black dress with woolly grey tights, might try get a similar combo for winter. I also love the black and white one of those dresses, its fab! I can't wait til actual winter rolls around to be honest, that's really the season for clothes I love (scarves, boots, and layers!)
  12. We used to have a thread like this some years back, not sure where it went, and I used to love posting all about my Primark outfits in it! Whether it's day to day clothes, work clothes, an occasional pop in to tell us about a new dress or smart suit you're wearing out tonight, the results of today's shopping trip, annoyance at wearing wellies in the middle of August - whatever is it, do come tell me about it! This was totally inspired by (yet another) shopping trip I went on over the weekend. I need to stop, but yay new clothes! Today I am wearing a black string top over a patterned woolly grey skirt (the skirt is new, I LOVE IT!), black tights and cardigan, and ankle boots. 100% Penneys/Primark sourced Bit of a wintry look but hey the summer has a bit of a wintry look about it this year!
  13. Mostly bright but occasionally it gets a bit overcast. Staying dry.
  14. I'm really glad you enjoyed that book, I don't remember it very well now but I know I loved it when I read it
  15. It was very one-sided, I think. Anyone interested in reading in should probably check out a positive review or two, though, to counter mine.
  16. I thought for what it was, Doll Bones was great. It's maybe a tad average in the context of all YA/Childrens' books, but I liked what it tried to do and I thought it did it pretty well. Also, good illustrations will always bag an author a solid extra half-star If I had a physical copy of Feed I'd send it to you, coz I really have no interest in it. I still reckon a lot of people would say I missed the point of it but I just didn't enjoy it much. Seed... is actually worth a read. I think a lot of people would enjoy it more than me.
  17. Black Headed Pins sounds like fun, I might check out!
  18. Thanks Alexi! I went on a bit of a rant with Feed hehe, because I saw so many people on Goodreads talking about how important it is and how good. It's an exaggeration of one facet of humanity that will always be a thing. Okay I'm done! I'm done!
  19. See I copy paste from my blog, and the rating is in a little paragraph allll of its own, so I keep forgetting to highlight it hehe! 3.5 stars, I'll add that in now. Yes, I giggled at the Feed and Seed thing myself haha. Sounds like a kind of self-service veggie restaurant. Eat some food, plant some seeds XD
  20. And second place goes toooooooooooooooooo.... Athena, for her book throne! Congrats Athena, can you pm your address and I'll send you out your bookmarks as soon as I can get to a post office!
  21. Thanks Gaia One more: Seed - Lisa Heathfield Synopsis: All that Pearl knows can be encapsulated in one word: Seed. It is the isolated community that she was born into. It is the land that she sows and reaps. It is the center of her family and everything that means home. And it is all kept under the watchful eye of Papa S. The arrival of a new family into the Seed community — particularly the teenage son, Ellis — only complicates the life and lifestyle that Pearl has depended upon as safe and constant. Ellis is compelling, charming, and worldly, and he seems to have a lot of answers to questions Pearl has never thought to ask. But as Pearl digs to the roots of the truth, only she can decide what she will allow to come to the surface. *** Review (MILD SPOILERS): I really, really enjoyed this book. I genuinely did. It's extremely well-written, and there were a couple of characters I really liked following. Something about it left me a little underwhelmed though; I think it might have been the pacing. Most of the book divides its time between two things, introducing the reader to different aspects of the cult (yes, cult) in which Pearl lives, and progressing Pearl's understanding that something is very wrong with her home, through the Outsiders and Kate. While both aspects are interesting to read about, there were a couple of times I found myself checking how many pages I had left to go before the end. Then, once I finally got close to the end, the pace ramped up to superspeed and barely left any time to really explore or elaborate on the final events, which (considering the dark connotations of much of the novel prior to the ending) could have been illustrated with more detail. I think, ultimately, I never felt entirely taken in by the society of Seed. Minor Spoiler: All the same, a very good read, I'm just being nit-picky. Would happily recommend it for something different and will read more by the author. Rating: 3.5/5
  22. Oooh I didn't know Mr. Ayoade has a book out. He's absolutely brilliant so he is
  23. I'm having the same problem, maybe our mojos ran off together I hope yours comes back soon!
  24. Overcast but I think it's dry!
