Finished The White Queen by Philippa Gregory. Enjoyed it! Much like her other books. my only problem with it was the use of magic in the book. Found it a bit odd. Otherwise, Good read!

Read more of The White Queen by Philippa Gregory. Enjoying it so far!
Also, went book shopping today to spend my birthday giftcards and bought: Mystic River by Dennis Lehane, Still Alice by Lisa Genova, Some Great Thing by Lawrence Hill and Teach Yourself Complete German book + cds kit. Now I'm looking for a good french book to brush up on my french

Hey! Not sure if I placed this in the right section, feel free to move it to the correct one. Anywho,
Now that I'm done school I have a ton of free time (when work permits it) and I thought it would be a good idea to spend that free time learning a new language (and brushing up on an old one). I'm looking for good self-taught books for this. I want to brush up on my french (which I've almost completely lost after not using it for many years) and I'm looking to learn German as my third language. Any book suggestions? Are the Dummies books any good? I was told to check out the "Teach Yourself" line of books. Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks!

Finished Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley. I absolutely adored it! Cannot wait to read the next book in the series!
-
13 chapters in to The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie and absolutely adoring it! I love Bradley's writing, and Flavia is so quirky and interesting that I'm having a hard time putting the book down! Definitely going to need to pick up the second book in the series.

Started reading Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley. Only about 60 pages in but am liking it!

Oh! I loved this book Whitegold
A bit odd, but really interesting. I loved all the old movie trivia he threw in too.
Unfortunately, I've given up on American Psycho and have filed it away for another day. I wasn't a fan of the over descriptive narration which I think is probably one of the quirks of the book.
Same here! The trivia was fascinating!
I have American Psycho on my TBR pile. I hope all the descriptive narrative isn't too overwhelming. It worked well in the movie though. Have you seen it? Great movie!

finished Snuff by Chuck Palahniuk. Liked it! Crazy story, like the rest of his books. haha Now I must figure out what to read next..

Started Snuff by Chuck Palahniuk. Not as good as some of his other books but still enjoying it! He is one strange author! haha. Love his stuff!

FINALLY finished Eat Pray Love. It only took me a whole month. Damn reading mojo withered and this book didn't quite help. It was overall a good read but I found the India section kind of dragged on. Maybe its my lack of interest in ashrams and meditating? but I found it kind of boring and hard to get through. Otherwise, I loved the Italy and Indonesia sections! Made me really want to travel..and soon! Now I must figure out my next book to read. This is going to be a tough choice!

My reading mojo has been scarce lately. I'm still slowly making my way through Eat Pray Love. :S Short book, yet it's taken me a whole month to read. I miss my mojo

I'm on book two of Eat Pray Love and liking it a lot! So far, this book has really made me want to visit Italy! haha Now onto India!

I picked Eat Pray Love for my next read. I'm not that far in to it but I am really liking it so far. Her writing flows nicely

Finally finished The Pact by Jodi Picoult. It picked up near the end. Nothing like My Sisters Keeper, but still good
Now I need to pick my next read. I'm debating between: Eat, Pray, Love or Her Fearful Symmetry.
-
I don't really have a gap between books, while nearing the end of one book I try to figure out what to read next. However, sometimes trying to pick the next book turns out to be harder than I'd like it. When that happens, the gap between books is usually a day or two.

I'm about half way through The Pact by Jodi Picoult. It has picked up tremendously, and I am greatly enjoying it! Hoping to get a huge chunk finished tonight, trying to complete the book before the end of the month!
-
Read a bit more of The Pact by Jodi Picoult. Its a tad bit slow right now, hoping it'll pick up soon. Also, bought Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger.

What did you think of Prozac Nation? I've been wanting to read that book for ages!

This is probably my favourite book of all time Whitegold. I'm glad you enjoyed it
I'm not sure what my favourite short story is though....probably Mr Whittakers. It had the surprise factor!
I recommended it to a friend recently and he recommended American Psycho to me (which is his favourite book) so that's what I'm reading now. He's enjoying Haunted
It was absolutely amazing! I love Palahniuks style. He is definitely my favorite author!
Ooh let me know how American Psycho is! I have it on my TBR pile. The movie is awesome! Definitely one of my top faves
