  1. Not as hot, but very muggy here today. The rain that was forecast has so far failed to materialise.
  2. London Falling By Paul Cornell I finished this last night. It's another "cops/secret agents fighting the supernatural in London" novel, but this one is a bit more hard-edged than most of the previous ones I have read (it is certainly not for the faint-hearted!). Very much a set up novel for an on-going series, but still a good story in it's own right, it is played straight with very little humour. Recommended. I may write a piece soon on the different novels in this sub-genre that I've read, as I've clocked up a few of them now!
  3. ^ If only it had been that funny in the film, it might have redeemed it somewhat.
  4. It's supposed to cool down again tomorrow, with rain and thunderstorms during the day. Thankfully. I wasn't made to work at this temperature, someone should have read my rating before putting me in this application.
  5. I think the current UK children's covers by Jonny Duddle are the best ones, excellent illustrations.
  6. Let's face it, it couldn't make less sense . . . *I wonder what will happen if I keep poking this alien life form in a really annoying way? Like this, and this, and th- Oh for the love of God! My precious arm!*
  7. The board should have a moderator's actions log, you can check that if you want to confirm your sanity/mAdNEss!
  8. There are a lot of American's posting that they are going to move to Canada now that law has passed. They don't seem to realise Canada has been allowing Gay Marriage since 2005 . . .
  9. The BFI interview about the making of the program (which you can link to from the above blooper) is quite interesting.

    Patrick Macnee. Bugger.
  11. The severed paw of a monkey. Things that I wanted started to happen after that, but in the most twisted and perverse ways possible . . .

    Heroes

Heroes: Reborn - First Full Length Trailer. Looks promising, let's hope they have learned the lessons of what didn't work from series 2, 3 & 4.

    Dreadful song . . .
  14. The creator of that should definitely have Riddle in there, as well as House Elf and Dementor.

I think my favourite Horner score is Wrath of Khan. There are so many good parts to that score but the emotion in the piece as Kirk runs through the Enterprise to engineering sets up the scene that follows beautifully. I have a number of his scores; Star Trek II and III, Rocketeer, Apollo 13, Titanic (which, I hasten to add, I always stop before Celine kicks off!) and Sneakers. He leaves quite a body of work. A good legacy.
  16. I wonder how many Riddles come out of that? (and if anyone would own up to it?).

Film score composer James Horner, killed in a plane crash.
  20. ^ Something you can't go about saying outside of this thread . . .
  21. Which Harry Potter family do you belong to? I'm a Lovegood!
  22. The Telegraph is printing very old news, albeit off the back of a new interview. After the last episode aired on the BBC there was an interview on BBC Four with Mark Rylance and Peter Kosminsky where they said then that they were planning to do a follow up, once Mantel finished the last book. I guess Wednesday must have been a slow news day . . .
  23. I saw that in my local Cineworld a few years back, it's very good on the big screen (and small, for that matter...).
  24. I was thinking pretty much the same way until I saw a repeat of Philip Glenister's For the Love of Cars the other day. He has been mooted as one of a potential new line up and I can see him taking on a "grumpy" persona quite well (if they go down the Three Clowns route they have with the previous presenters). I don't think May and Hammond should stay though, a new line up could work; part old, part new, I'm not so sure. Hopefully they will get a new series with Clarkson somewhere else.
  25. *blows dust off thread* Some say, he is the new presenter . . . I wonder who will be doing it with him?
