Finished season 2 last night; all 22 episodes in less than a week, six last night alone! (got to the end of the first four and though, well, it's only another hour and a half . . .). Really enjoyed it, especially Kyle MacLachlan's unhinged Cal, who could have so easily have become a cardboard cut-out bad guy but ended up one of the best characters. I like the addition of more members to the team, especially Lance Hunter who reminded me a lot of Spike in Buffy. Also thought Fitz was more interesting this year but I'm getting slightly bored of Simmons. Good stuff, I'll be watching 3.1 on 4OD later tonight.

I'm currently about half-way through The Natural History of Dragons, by Marie Brennan, and really enjoying it.

I always preferred The Dark Crystal, and I've always wanted a copy of this book. Do you like Yoda? He's basically Gonzo without the cannon and chicken fetish.

2 episodes in and I can see Beowulf going the same way. At least Jekyll & Hyde had a plot; Beowulf is just rambling sprawl, and not very interesting either.

With the exception of all the fuss about Life on Mars a few years back, Bowie seems to have completely passed me by. I don't own any of his albums, I've never seen Labyrinth, so the extent of the collective outpouring of grief on Twitter this morning was a bit of a surprise. 69 is far too early to go though. *ETA added "by"!

I think its a good idea, and it might just help to interest a few kids in chemistry as well.

Star Wars: A Definitive History on Spike. Very interesting, but an hour isn't long enough to tell this story properly!

It was released just before The Matrix Reloaded and the first part (Final Flight of the Osiris) is a direct lead in to the film (the Osiris is name checked in the film). It's not a bad collection (certainly better than the last film, anyway!).

ITV have cancelled Jekyll & Hyde. No great surprise, once they started shifting it around in the schedules.

Started Season 2 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D last night. Two episodes in, not too bad so far. Trying to get to the end of it before season 3 starts on E4 (next week . . . ).

I think Amazon may have changed the post date for their monthly deals (certainly for this month, anyway) because these books were up before the weekend. Not a lot there for me this month, but given I have bought half a dozen Kindle books over the last week, mainly from the 12 Days of Kindle offer, that's probably enough to be going on with!

They can probably borrow some of George's, he appears to have enough to go around.

The bit where Harry turns evil and joins Voldemort in book five is the best!

Not quite, I still don't have enough books for my own personal library. I would say it was better than The Copper Promise, but that's not to take anything away from the latter, which was a good book as well.

I found the one I read to be women=clever & men=stupid, unless name=Poirot. I probably need to read more...

I started The Natural History of Dragons, by Marie Brennan in the latter hours of 2015 and am nearly 1/7 of the way through it. Hopefully it won't be too many days until it is finished.

To add to this, I'd say that following a good start I've been a bit slow with the reading this year, buying far more books than I have actually gotten around to reading (which is something I will have to correct in 2016, if only for my wallet's sake..). Also, and I'm not sure how much significance I would attach to this, but I've read more books by female authors this year - 5 out 21 (which may not sound like much, but the proportion is actually up significantly on previous years, with the exception of when I re-read all of the Harry Potter books in one go a few years back). I honestly don't tend to pick my books by the sex of the author, I just pick up books if I like the sound of the story, but books like The Iron Ghost may prompt me to actively look out more female authors.
