  1. I'm a fourteen year old boy who has been brought up in a graveyard by it's dead inhabitants and a wise guardian. Unfortunately my guardian has gone away for longer than is normal and I know someone very dangerous is out to kill me, if he can find me...

    Hey

    Hey ned to the forum.
  3. So I see by your sig! I really enjoyed it too. I would say it is definately worth another try, it has turned out to be one of my favourite books this year. Do NOT watch the film first though, I was so disappointed in it, the book is in a whole other league IMO That's a shame I have no idea how much it costs to post to the UK from Canada, but I imagine it would be much the same as buying the book, only at least then you would have the copy to keep! This one is definately worth a purchase

  14. My OH loves it too (I wonder why ). It must be the only series he has suggested watching again and he never does that!
  15. Exactly, that's what put me off it before I read it, I thought it would be too sci-fi for me, but it wasn't like that at all. Great stuff
  16. Thanks Stephanie It's not my usual thing but yet again bcf has introduced me to another great read!
  17. I was sent a copy of The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger from our lovely mod Chrissy thank you so much Chrissy, I really enjoyed it Synopsis Courtesy of Waterstone's: This extraordinary, magical novel is the story of Clare and Henry who have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six, and were married when Clare was twenty-two and Henry thirty. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself pulled suddenly into his past or future. His disappearances are spontaneous and his experiences are alternately harrowing and amusing. The Time Traveler's Wife depicts the effects of time travel on Henry and Clare's passionate love for each other with grace and humour. Their struggle to lead normal lives in the face of a force they can neither prevent nor control is intensely moving and entirely unforgettable. My thoughts: The synopsis says it all really about the story. I wasn't sure what to expect of this book, I just thought I liked the idea of the storyline but thought it might be a bit hard to follow ... it wasn't. I did start off having to keep checking back on the dates just to get my mind on what was happening, but after a few chapters I was in full swing. I began to love how Henry time travelled and the quirky way he would often meet himself and help himself out and especially reading how his love with Clare grew and blossomed into such a special relationship, not to mention Of course there were the 'weepy' bits you come to expect in chicklit, but they were very well written and by that stage you have come to know and love the characters so well that you really empathise with them. There was also plenty of humour though which helped to lighten the sadness. I really enjoyed it and would definately recommend it. I can't think of any other book to compare it to, as I don't read much chicklit, other than P.S I Love You by Cecilia Ahern, TTTW sort of reminded me of it. 9/10
  18. The first record I bought was Money Money Money by Abba along with Cars by Gary Numan, both 7" singles. I remember playing them over and over again on my Dad's record player, if you kept the arm up they just kept repeating Now I feel old
  19. I had been on to a very good friend of mine to watch True Blood for ages (I just knew she'd love it ). She had recorded it on Sky plus but how ever hard I tried I couldn't get her motivated to watch it . She's also a reader and as her mojo had up and gone I recommended the Sookie books. Sooo, we were in town together one day and she bought the first three books , needless to say I haven't seen or heard much of her lately apart from the odd phone call saying 'OMG these are so good!' or 'I can't get my head out of these books, I've got nothing done!' I think she's well and truly hooked!!
  20. I haven't picked up The Graveyard Book yet today, I will make up for it later though I have instead been reading the first two chapters of Bookjumper's novel!
  21. Absolutely loads of stuff didn't make it into the film, it was a real hatchet job and for someone who didn't read the book like my OH, it left a lot of questions unanswered.
  22. K M Peyton! That sounds about right I loved these books! I hope you enjoy them mollie
  23. Great reviews SweetiiPie! I love the Logan MacRea books so it's good to hear Halfhead is just as good, my type of thing
  24. Hey Gyre :D How are you? I'm good thanx, although my son just came home from 6th form in school today and announced he's went and got himself a place at college instead. He starts tomorrow! I hope it's everything he's hoping for :icon_eek:

Good to hear things progressing well for your new heating! How exciting! I'm sure you can't wait, you'll not know yourself this winter and more importantly, the cats will love it!

  25. I remember reading horsey books called 'Flambards' years ago when I was a young teen, and enjoying them, can't think who the author was though sorry I think they were also made into a television series too if I remember correctly
