Charlaine Harris > Grabeshauch (Grave Secret) synopis from amazon When she was 15, Harper Connelly was struck by a bolt of lightning, which left her with a spiderweb of red over her body, headaches, and episodes of weakness. Sometimes her right hand shakes. And she can find dead people. It's taken a while, but at last Harper's pretty happy with her life: she's making a living, using her unique talent to help people, and she's got a lover - her stepbrother Tolliver. That creeps some people out, but though they grew up together, and got each other through the real bad times - their parents' drug-use, the abuse, the disappearance of Harper's elder sister Cameron - they're not blood relatives. Then Tolliver's dad arrives on the scene, seeking forgiveness for the sins of their youth, and the police get a tip-off that after all these years, Cameron's been spotted in a mall. With all this going on Harper realises life is getting a little complicated, but she doesn't expect those complications to include Tolliver getting shot, or watching a cop die taking a bullet for her. Harper can find dead people, but now it's clear someone wants her dead ... my thoughts I liked this book better than the third part of the series, so I'm glad that the series isn't going downhill after all. Unfortunately the end of the book feels like the end of the series. I hope that that's not true, because there is still a lot potential in the series. Rating: 4/5 Series: Harper Connelly 4

Rachel Caine > Glass Houses synopsis from amazon College freshman Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation, where the popular girls never let her forget just where she ranks in the school's social scene: somewhere less than zero. When Claire heads off-campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates don't show many signs of life, but they come out fighting when the town's deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood... my thoughts I really liked this book and simply flew through the pages and couldn't put it down. The story is fast paces, there's always something happening that makes you go on reading. The main characters are just lovely (mmh Shane )and it's nice to have some bad vampires again , especially after all these Twilighty books that are around (which I still love though ). I will definately stick with the series and will be ordering book number 2 today. Rating: 5/5 Series: Morganville Vampires 1

I finished Glass Houses yesterday and started Grave Secret by Charlaine Harris this morning. -
I've read The Dirt a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. Very interesting. At times very disgusting. Also funny. Read it and listen to their music as you do so. Oh, and watch out for the part Lorelai reads at the Gilmore Girls.

I started Glass Houses by Rachel Caine last night. That makes it 3 books at a time again. -
Well done pipread and frankie, we are all so awesome

Hey Charm, happy reading to you, too. Yes, I really liked the Generation Dead series, they were very good for my mojo. I hope you like the other two books as much as I did. It's kinda funny that you point out The Glass Houses, Shiver and Linger, because I made a list yesterday of 15 books that I'd like to read next (all from my TBR) and all three were on it. These books all got very good reviews around here, so I'm looking forward to reading them. You're right Frankie, the synopsis sounds really good, that's why I was so disappointed by the book. I bet another author could make so much more out of the idea of the book.

I started Up in Seth's room by Norma Mazer saturday night, as I needed a book that would fit into my handbag (it's only 174 pages long). Plus, I have finished Harry Potter 3 and Passing Strange this weekend. -
Daniel Waters > Passing Strange synopsis from Amazon Karen DeSonne always passed as a normal teenager - and now that she's dead, she's still passing - this time, as alive. When her dead friends are accused of a high profile murder and forced into hiding, she has to prove their innocence. Which means doing the unthinkable and becoming the girlfriend of bionist zealot Peter Martinsburg, who she suspects of framing them. But if he finds out who Karen really is, the consequences for her will be worse than death... my thoughts As I liked Karen in the first two books, I was pleased that Passing Strange is written from mostly her perspective. There are interesting things happening which really want you read more, find out what it's all about. But not everything is explained, so I can't wait for the fourth book to come out. So far, I'd like Kiss of life the best, Passing strange could not quite hold up to all the emotions Book 2 set free, but it's still very good and I would definately recommend the whole series. Rating: 4/5 Series: Generation Dead 3

Yeah, better avoid it. That book was quite dissapointing. Sadly a pretty cover isn't enough (the other two books of the series have even prettier covers *sigh*)

I have successfully finished my first week of Weight Watchers and I can happily announce, that I have lost 2 kilos (They say, that the average weight loss is 0,5 kilos a week) Most of it might be water, but who cares

I've read some more of Passing Strange on my way home from work and I'm still loving it. Soon I will go to bed and read some Harry Potter 3, which I started a few weeks ago as I'd like to finish it this week. I also still have The Passage on my bedside table and I hope I can read a couple 100 pages in it at the weekend. Reading 3 books at once is kinda difficult, but The Passage and Potter books are just to big to take on the train and tram on my way to work. -
I'm loving it! It starts right away where book 2 ends, so you're back in the story right away. I guess that I'm going to finish it in the next few days and I'm curious about how the story goes on. I totaly loved Kiss of life, it set some strong emotions free towards the end. I enjoyed it even more than Generation dead, which I found kinda difficult to get into.

Laurie Faria Stolarz > Deadly little secret synopsis from Amazon Up until three months ago, everything in sixteen-year-old Camelia’s life had been fairly ordinary: decent grades; an okay relationship with her parents; and a pretty cool part-time job at the art studio downtown. But when Ben, the mysterious new guy, starts junior year at her high school, Camelia’s life becomes anything but ordinary. Rumored to be somehow responsible for his ex-girlfriend’s accidental death, Ben is immediately ostracized by everyone on campus. Except for Camelia. She’s reluctant to believe the rumors, even when her friends try to convince her otherwise. She’s inexplicably drawn to Ben…and to his touch. But soon, Camelia is receiving eerie phone calls and strange packages with threatening notes. Ben insists she is in danger, and that he can help—but can he be trusted? She knows he's hiding something... but he's not the only one with a secret. my thoughts This is the first book that I read this year. Can't say that I liked it. I thought it would be more about the "Touch"-part and not only a few pages of the whole book. I didn't really like the writing style aswell, seems to me, like the author wanted a bit to much to keep the reader in the dark by writing about too many possibilities. But this didn't made me shiver or kept me as interested as intended. I was rather annoyed about how stupid the main character is and the story in general. Rating: 2/5 Series: Touch Novel 1

I've decided not to open up a new thread for 2011 but keep this tread going. Everything has been updated on the first page, where you find my cuurent 2011 reading list, my MTBR list of all the unread books I own, the reading list of 2010 and a list of books I'd like to borrow from the public library. Happy reading in 2011 everybody

Oh, and I started to read Passing Strange today, so you won't need to wait too long anymore for the third book.
-
That would be really great! I'm in!
