Is noise allowed? The TV or the children?
Indoors or out? Morning or Evening?
Do you read on sofa or do you prefer to snuggle in bed with a good read?
Is a cuppa close to hand? Do you feast while you read?
Does everything have to be just so?
I prefer silence, but I'm ok with reading on the train (if talking people get too annoying, I just turm my mp3 player on).
Both indoors and outdoors, it depends on the weather and where I am and such. I read all through out the day, in the morning on my way to work, on my way back to work, in bed, during the day at the weekend.
I like to sit down with a piece of cake and a nice drink at starbucks, I do this sometimes as a treat and sit there for hours and hours. But normaly I don't feast while reading, too much reading time spent on the train.

I'm done with The Gates (it's so stupid that they won't make a second season

)
Yay!!!!! I haven't even counted mine or even had the energy to update my list again.....dam those free book on Amazon
read some good ones though Lopeanha you might like some of them
Your reading-list ist just plain intimidating
I have no idea how you manage to read that amount of books. Quite awesome! I'm sure there are some books that would interest me too, but I don't have a kindle and I'm not planning to get one in the soon future. I'm not convinced yet. Especially as amazon germany is quite more expensive with the kindle itself and with the ebooks.

Ella Minnow Pea sounds quite funny, I will look out for it.

The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula Le Guin
This is a story about a man - George Orr - whose dreams can change reality, and the psychiatrist who sets out to cure him but, having realised he can control George's dreams through hypnosis, then decides to change the world using his ideas of how things should be. It's a great idea - although George's ability is never really explained, as a starting point it's brilliant. At the start, George is a mess. Le Guin's idea of a future world (the book was written in 1971) that is overpopulated, over-industrialised and polluted is all too real. George has realised that his nightmares are making the world worse, and has been taking drugs to try and prevent sleep. When it's discovered that he has been obtaining the medication illegally he is forced to see a psychiatrist. In steps Dr Haber, who quickly becomes obsessed with the possibilities and the power George's ability provides him with. As the story progresses, Haber uses George to change the world. At first the changes are small, and only noticeable to the two of them. But, as Haber's lust for power begins to take over ... well, that would be spoiling it.
I didn't know much about this book before reading it, but the idea obviously came from the philosophies of the Far East, given the quotes from the likes of Tao Te Ching at the beginnings of chapters. I really liked the way Le Guin wove the changes into the narrative in such a natural way. From the start, she throws in little details about the existing world then - without whacking you around the head with a big sign saying "THIS HAS CHANGED!" - you find you're reading about the same people and places, but they are different. I also liked that, once George's dreams altered things, they also changed history, so people around him remembered events going back years that had formed the new world as they saw it now.
A very interesting and enjoyable read, and it doesn't overstay its welcome.
8/10
This one sounds interesting, I will put it on my want-to-read-list.

After winning the brutal Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen returns to her district, hoping for a peaceful future. But Katniss starts to hear rumours of a deadly rebellion against the Capitol. A rebellion that she and Peeta have helped to create. As Katniss and Peeta are forced to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. Unless Katniss and Peeta can convince the world that they are still lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying. This is the terrifying sequel to "The Hunger Games."
Love, love, LOVE this series! It was more of an emotional read for me than the first book, which is also how I think Katniss has developed herself. She had more of a connection with the people in her life so therefore much more of a stake in how things turned out. She has matured and was willing to sacrifice many important things for those around her whom she loved.
The second book shows more things coming together, ie the fulfillment of Katniss's ultimate purpose within her district and all the districts under the evil Capitol. I can't wait to see how the trilogy ends!
Ain't it great?!
I found this one to be more emotional aswell, I've read it on the train and could barely keep myself from crying

4.The one book you would have with you if stranded on a desert island:
If it's a desert island where I have to fend for myself I would take John 'Lofty' Wisemans SAS Survival Handbook. If on the other hand it's a 6 star luxurious desert island, I'd take The Shadow of the Wind, as I'm itching to get this back off my Mum to read as I have heard such good things on here...
Very thoughtful

Our electricity was off from 9 to 5 today so I managed to read The Body Finder by Kimberley Derting, great little book which I flew threw.
That sounds promising, maybe I should bump it up on my priority list

Finished Harry Potter 4 and will finish The forest of hands and teeth tonight.
-
I hope your daughter enjoys 'Across the Universe' VF, she might like 'The Wolves of Mercy Falls' series by Maggie Stiefvater, 'Shiver', 'Linger' and 'Forever', its about wolves but its definitely a different kind of read.
I would second this recommendation
I've only read the first book so far but I loved it!

My bf's mom's birthday was on saturday and I braught a selfmade so called "Donauwelle" cake. That's normal cake dough, then chocolate cake dough, then a layer of cherries and after baking buttercream on top and to finisch a layer of chocolate.
I#m so glad everybody loved it and bf's brother even asked me if I would do this professionally
(I'm a library assistant though)

Still reading Harry Potter 4 at home and The forest of hands and teeth on my way to work and back. I'm pretty sure that I will finish the Potter book tonight, as there are only about 30 pages left. Can't wait to start book 5
The forest of hands and teeth is very good so far and I'm very curious how it's going to continue (I'm half way through).

I've now finished Skin Deep by Carol Davis Luce and am about to start The Body Finder by Kimberley Derting (in tree form, it's been ages since I held a book!)
I have this on my TBR pile, will be interesting to see what you think of it (oh my, that sentence sounds really wrong, grammar wise)
-
Try A Touch of Dead, it's a collection of all the Sookie short stories that were published in various anthologies.
I still have it on my TBR pile, as I want to read it when re-reading the whole series, so I can't tell you anything more about it.
-
I only know Generation Dead of those three, but this one is very good! The second book of the series is even better.
