Can't wait!!!

Now, see, the hockey is a tough one because as much as I love all things Swedish, I am very proud to be a Canadian. As long as it is Sweden vs anyone else, I cheer for Sweden. If it is Sweden vs Canada - I am torn to bits! I feel disloyal cheering for either side!

What Swedish I so know is pretty rudamentary & is all self taught (with the help of my Swedish primary school teacher friend). She sends me Swedish childrens books & newspapers & helps me translate what I don't understand. I would love to become a competant Swedish speaker, but finding places to take Swedish language lessons has been pretty hard.

I have never been to Finland, though I have a very dear friend who lives in Helsinki, where she was born & raised & I keep saying I WILL get there to see her, but haven't managed it yet! Where in Finland are you, if you don't mind saying?

Well, it's a looooooooong story, really, lol. Suffice to say that I don't really - not any more, anyway. When I was 16, yes. Now? No! I do try, though (I have a friend who lives in Gavle who has a couple young children & she sends me little primer books to brush up, along with newspapers & such). I sound like such a freak (to some people, anyway) when I say this, but I am obsessed with Sweden & all things Swedish (It's ok, you can laugh if you want!) & that was initially why I moved over here to Britain - so that I could get my EU citizenship & move to Sweden, only now I have been here 9 years & it's incredibly unlikely to happen now. (OH who I love to bits, who is British & has no desire to leave the UK)

Anyway, to make a long story short - I can read it pretty well & understand it relatively well (especially if I am reading it), but can barely speak it any longer & what I did used to know was all self taught, with the help of my Swedish friends.

Oh so true! Hey, even if it wasn't, I'm pretty partial to mine, so he'd be staying! Oh, yeah & my family are pretty partial to him, too. In fact, my 5 year old niece LOVES him! The sun rises & sets only for him as far as she's concerned & I dare anyone to tell her otherwise! I'm sure that given a choice between me & him, for her - he'd win, No contest!

Indeed & you never know, we might be one of those lucky couples that's able to conceive into our 40's! Eek!

Ok, hoping I got this right: (I am positive I remeber you saying you speak Swedish as your 1st language, not Finnish? - trying to show off my lack of Swedish language skills here, - after not speaking it for 16 years it's pretty darn rusty!!)

That WOULD be disturbing! YUCK! Nah, we're a good age, though I do wish sometimes I had met him when I was a little younger. I'd love to have at least one child, but time is getting on & he isn't ready for that.............

Amen to that! I'd say mine is the largest age gap, though! Not that it matters as he's far more mature than I am! Mind, that's not always a good thing, ! I'd say that after 3 & 1/2 years no one's really bothered by the age difference.

"Haa, my BF is also younger than me! He's 25 and I'm 27 so I know what it's like to have a younger BF.", which made me chuckle because my BF is also younger than me (& I take it so is yours?). Mine is 33 & I'm 37, so he's really a toyboy as my friends like to say!

Long story but I may win out yet! He's now, as of yesterday, a victim of the economic climate & in about a month, I too shall be unemployed, so if we don't find jobs soon we may have no choice but to move back to Canada!

Nice! I can't imagine too many places being that accepting! Especially in light of the current economic situation, lol. I'm currently trying to convince my OH that we need to move back home to Canada. Not having much luck, though.

What does he do that he's able to have all that time off?! So it sounds like there might be another Canuck emigrating to the South in the future, huh?

I wasn't thinking that at all! I know loads of people who have met their partners off the internet & a lot of them are now very happily married! Do you get to see each other very often?

I know Waterdown very well! It's actually part of Hamilton (much to the disgust of those who are from there), since 2001. How did you two get to know each other?

Well, I lived in Toronto for a couple years & then in Hamilton for a few years. My 2 sisters & my brother still live in Hamilton & my parents live in Caledonia.

Hello! Yeah, I am from Canada. Where is your boyfriend from? I grew up in New Brunswick, on the Atlantic coast, but lived in Ontario off & on for a good number of years before moving over here.

Hi! Yeah, in 27 days I finish working there! Can't wait! It's been very hard for the last few months! I was bullied to the point of being suicidal, by my boss & had to take a month off work. While I was off sick I handed in my notice & filed a grienance against my boss - which the company found to have no grounds (big surprise!). I'm now appealing the decision, so we shall see what happens!
