  1. Sara, if you like "What if" senarios, then I bet you would love Fatherland & Archangel, both by Robert Harris. Fatherland's "What if" is what if Hitler had won the war & Archangel's "what if" is what if Joseph Stalin had succeeded in cloning himself, like he was trying to do. Both brilliant books!
  2. Well, I don't actually live in Doncaster, taking this job means that I have to leave my OH & our flat for 2-3 weeks at a time to go to work. I live in Bedford, so the commute is a little difficult, but I couldn't afford to turn this job down as it means we won't have to touch our savings for another few months.

Why Wales? Well, I lived there previously & loved it - it reminded me so much of the area of Canada that I grew up in & my OH is Welsh. He's from Abbergavenny, born & raised & if we can't move back to Canada, then Wales it is!

  3. My choices are pretty classic (ie: old!), for the most part. Navy Seals All 3 of the Back to the Future movies Doc Hollywood The Secret of my Success Plane, Trains & Automobiles Canadian Bacon Cool Runnings The Great Outdoors Fools Rush In Three to Tango The Whole Nine Yards Goonies Stand by Me Four Weddings & a Funeral Two Weeks Notice Sliding Doors (Love love love John Hannah!) In her Shoes Ever After Never Been Kissed 10 Things I Hate About You 27 Dresses The Bucket List The Hanibal Lecter Movies What Dreams May Come Wild Strawberries The Hunt for Red October Les Miserables (the version with Jean-Paul Belmondo) and many many more!
  4. Good morning! What're you doing up so late? :) My OH is watching the boxing & I'm not tired yet...............

  5. Well, I have something lined up already, but it's only temporary. I have been hired to be a Consultant Revenue Manager at a hotel in Doncaster. It's for a company I have worked for before, at one of their new hotels, which is why they have hired me - I know their business very well & they need me to go in & get the Revenue Office set up (Meeting & Events & Reservations - it would be weddings, too but this hotel doesn't do weddings - essentially, anything in the hotel other than Housekeeping, Maintenance, & Food & Beverage will/could fall under a Revenue Manager's domain.) I'll be on a month to month contract there, but should have at least 2-3 months employment, which is good! After that I am looking for another Revenue Manager's position, preferably in Wales............

  6. Well, thought that tonight's show was pretty much a waste! That saxaphone guy was horrid! It did make me think of a guy I used to see around Canada all the time - he was incredibly famous, though I haven't heard anything from him in a fair while. His name is Andre (sorry, no accents on my keyboard) Philippe Gagnon & he, amongst other things, can play the saxaphone with just his voice! Check it out! APGagnon
  7. Yup, I am now free!!! And bloody glad of it, I tell you! Now I just have to find a new job! How're you?

  11. I read a few of the Sweet Valley High, but never really got into them.
  12. Ok, I tried & my internet crashed! You try sending me a pm.

  13. I'm good, thanks, but these are not pm's everyone can see these. I'm gonna go try & send you a pm again!

  14. Tried sending you a pm, but id didn't work, which is odd because you have 10 posts, so it should work.........

  15. Oh don't you worry, I would go through major withdrawl if I do't get on the internet at least at the weekends! Not to mention the fact that I would have billions of posts unread here & I would have way too many books to write reviews about!

How strange that msn is being mean to you! :motz:I assume you have tried re-booting the lappy?

  16. Weird! Yeaah, I've been signed in all night. I did wonder where you'd got to! I'll not be taking the laptop with me, but I am going to tell the hotel's manager that I will be using the internet at the hotel, on my computer there. Hopefully they haven't added any web blockers in the 1 & 1/2 years I've been away from this company. Otherwise, I'll be looking for internet cafes!

  17. Well, it'll be for however long they need me. Once they hire someone, if that person hasn't ever worked for that company, then I will be the one to train them in the company ways......I doubt they'll offer me a job & I wouldn't take it if they did. The person who offered me th job knows me very well, which is why he offered me the job. He used to be my GM at a different hotel, within this same company. The hotel is up north, which unfortunately means I'll only get back here every 2 weeks max (

  18. Hi Beth! Hope your trip to Hong Kong went smoothly & that your new place is fab!

  19. Hello my dear! How are you? Manage to get any reading done today? I haven't! Massive headache all day, which sucks (probably shouldn't be on here, lol). Got some fab news today ......been offered a job! It's only for a couple months, as a consultant manager for a new hotel that's opening, but the money is great & it means we don't have to dip into the savings for another few months! Yippeeeeee!!!!:D

  20. I take it since you haven't answered me that you're not interested in having my copy of "The Death of Vishnu"?
  21. Happy birthday peachess! :5birthday:

  22. Yeah, Mac, that's a bad one! Or, even worse, people who do talk to them, but speak to them as though they haven't a brain in their head, or are deaf!
