  1. Hi and welcome!
  2. I started Marley and Me by John Grogan yesterday and I was well into page 3 when I started crying already....
  3. Hello and welcome, you'll enjoy it here!
  4. Hi Julia and welcome!
  5. ii, I actually thought of you when I started the book and wondered if you liked it! It wasn't as amazing as I had expected, but it was a good read anyway. Thought provoking I really enjoyed the bit with the fox, that was the best part and made me cry. The fox's ideas about taming were brilliant. I wonder if I could get a fox instead of a dog (can't have dogs because I'm allergic). Now reading through The Shining by Stephen King. I've read this once before maybe 10 years ago so I don't remember much about it.
  6. Well it's good she likes her own book lol
  7. At least The Palace of Dreams is in English and in Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Palace-Dreams-Ismail-Kadare/dp/1559704160
  8. Thanks for the info, I'll see if Knots and Crosses is available in my library!

You're so lucky to have met a writer whose work you enjoy so much! That's not very likely to happen to me, as I mostly read foreign novels and foreign writers don't tend to visit Finland :P

  9. Hiya and welcome!
  10. Yeah I noticed in some thread that you were going to go see him :) I was at the library the other day going through the English lit section and I noticed a massive row of Rankin's books and I thought of you :) I've never tried his books, maybe I should give him a go? What's the first novel in his Rebus-series?

  11. Hello Daria and welcome!

    I second that
  14. Well how could anyone resist cuddling a cat like that? I don't have any pets of my own, but that's because I'm allergic to cats and dogs :cry2: I'm such a dog person, I've always wished for a golden retriever. I like cat's a lot, too. I'm always "stalking" for other peoples dogs and cats cause I can never have my own; there's a lot of dogs living in my neighborhood and whenever I hear barking, I go to the windows and see what they're up too

  15. Hi Maureen :) Is the cat in your avatar your cat? I was kinda expecting to see an album of kitties here in your profile but nope didn't find anything!

  16. I'm okay, and I'm glad you're feeling okay :)

  17. Awww, collies Welcome, I'm sure you'll enjoy it here!
  18. Hi Otter, and welcome
  19. Hello Sean, and welcome
  20. Welcome Chimera, I'm sure you'll like it here
  21. How are you doing Tiger? :friends0:

  22. Aww, thanks :) I can't say yours is pretty, but I can say that it is pretty handsome! That's a new one of Ian Rankin isn't it, this picture is so much better. In the other one he looked older, this one shows he's actually quite young and not bad to look at :P

  23. I've read a couple of Scarpetta books before but it was so many years ago that I don't remember anything about them - just that they were good! I'm so glad I've managed to find those books and can start reading them in chronological order I haven't tried Cornwell's other fiction either and probably won't even try. I've heard so many great things about Kathy Reichs's books too that I'm checking them out as soon as possible! I'm next in line for "Deja Dead" in our local library so it won't be long until I get the chance. Actually I've been quite anxious these few weeks to get it! Why won't the current borrower hurry with the reading
  24. I sensed there was another Scarpetta collector when I noticed your purchases in Which books came to your home today -thread! I've been collecting those books too, which has been quite tricky at times, but last Monday I found the missing four books from the beginning of the series. Goody! Enjoy your collection!
  25. Definitely chips (as in crisps in British English). That's a nasty, fattening addiction
