  1. At night, if I'm on the train and on my lunch break! Always need to read at least a few pages at night even if I'm shattered.
  2. I really enjoyed Middlesex but ordered the hardback without realising just how huge a book it was! Definately not one for reading on the bus! i agree with Steffie I thought the immigrant experience aspects of the book were the most interesting! The idea of someone coming into your home and telling you not to use too much garlic in your food -bizarre!
  3. Can only think of 3 but I'm sure there must be more! Sophies World by Jostein Gardner (that seems to be on a few of the posts! Just so irratating and patronising) A Quiet Belief in Angels- R.J Ellory (I just thought it was so badly written-it made me furious!) Left Bank-Kate Muir (the characters were all so unsympathetic!) Just goes to show how different reactions to a book can be- I loved Ghosts of Spain! Actually I lent one of Andrew Martin's detective novels to my mum (we usually have the same taste in books) and she hated it so much she threatened to throw it in the river!
  4. Arkady Renko in Martin Cruz Smiths Renko novels, Scout Finch in To kill a Mockingbird
  5. 1, 2 and 3- sometimes 4 and never 5! I remember the more "literary" novels more. :readingtwo:I read a lot of crime novels and they do tend to merge with each other! Donna Leon writes really memorable crime novels sent in Venice however and I read a greek detective novel -Late Night News by Petros Markaris which i think will stay in my memory a bit longer!
  6. 2 hours away so quite far but should be great- just need someone to pack and unpack for me!
  7. Hi Guys I've just spotted this group and looks pretty good! I'm Jo and I'm a big book lover and always have at least two books on the go. Cant think of much better than an afternoon with a new book. I'm moving in a few weeks and all my books are packed away- miss them!
