    Hello

    Welcome Sharon!
  5. I dont think that doing anything that you enjoy can be called a waste of time! People who arent big raeders are suprised at how much i read but have never been told its weird!
  6. Thanks for adding me! What are you rading at the mo?

  7. Welcome Shirley!
  8. Hangover Square by Patrick Hamilton- I read this for the first time years ago and had the verve on repeat- now "Lucky Man" reminds me of the book and makes me a bit sad! More recently- The Tenderness Of Wolves by Stef Penney made me cry at the end. Unspoken love -ahhhhh.
  9. Welcome- You'll have fun!
  10. I buy a lot of books on line or swap on book mooch but if I do go in a book shop I'm afraid I'm definately drawn to the nice covers! The blurb is more important once I've picked it up though. I own a lot of cookery books and a great looking cookery book with gorgeous pictures will definately persuade me (even if I only read it in bed!)
  11. Hi and welcome from another new un!
  12. My absolute favourite autobiography is The Hacienda by Lisa St aubin De Teran "Married at sixteen to a man twenty years her senior who spoke no English, she was taken to his ancestral home and estate where she found herself living in the most primitive of conditions, isolated and alone. St. Aubin de Teran ended up virtually running the plantation that belonged to her increasingly demented husband but enjoyed learning the mores and magic of a place that had remained practically unchanged for more than a century. Written in mesmerising prose, this is the extraordinary story of a young woman surviving by her wits and fantasies." Its got issues of class, race, gender, mental illness, motherhood- just amazing! Also -Piece of Cake by Cupcake Brown (her real name) is also fantastic and hilarious at times although very gruelling. About surving drug addition and the foster care system in the U.S
  13. Hey Boo! Welcome!

    Hi!

Hi and welcome from another new un! Its really addictive!
  19. I dont think I'd re read a thriller or a mystery but I re-read some of my favourites. I do think that you find something additional to appreciate every time you read a fave book. I've re-read Dark Materials trilogy a few times, The Crimson Petal and the White by Michael Faber (but not too ofter because its huge!), The Hacienda by Lisa St Aubin De Teran and Hangover square by Patrick Hamilton. I'm planning to re-read Rebecca in the next month or so! Hope its as good as I remember I do find it hard to re-read a book after its been made into a film, though!
  20. I love along book- you really feel you know te characters by the end! Whats it about?
  21. Hi Tasha! Welcome to you too! Its quite addictive isnt it? What are you reading?
  22. I must admit taht I thought that too but The innocent man is a great book! The injustice of it makes you furious (its a non fiction book about a wrongful conviction) though
  23. The films fantastic! Its a french film though so hope you dont mind subtitles! Bizarelly Kristen Scott Thomas is in it speaking fluent french!
  24. Hi! thanks for your message! Finished the tenderness of wolves- cant recommend it highly enough! Best book I've read so far this year! What about you What are you reading?

  25. I always read 2 or 3 as well- dont get them mixed up! Usually theres at least one detective/crime novel! I'm a bit of a Rankin fan- do you like the ones he wrote as Jack Reacher?
