  1. Swan Song By Robert Mc Gammon Followed by Savages by Shirley Conran. And Any Rosamund Pilcher. As a male reader funny how ladies books seem to be my favoriutes.
  2. I listened to Yan Martell's Life of Pi mainly in the car. I would sit in the car until a certain passage had finished afor I got out to go shopping or birding. I find audio books brilliant but have to be in the right mood and create the right ambience
  3. One thing I have noticed on this thread is that. a majority seem to be shy, quiet & female. is this a part of the job description for a bookworm?
  4. Boneless Pork chops, Fresh apple sauce and all the trimmings, followed by Christmas pudding. But that is later as I have just had breakfast (Coco Pops)
  5. Yo diddly. Welcome to the big family. I have clocked up twenty three hours on the forum this week so watch out it is addictive.
  6. Birthday: 12th August Age: 40 Starsign: Leo Single/Married/Other? had girlfriend for three months so far. Children? One but never seen him Where do you live? Lowestoft Do you work? Other than a news paper column once a month I am unemployed in full time work. Favourite author? Robert Mc Gammon, Clive Cussler and Stephen King. Favourite book? Swan Song by Robert Mc Gammon How did you get here? Google.
  7. Just read Status Quo by Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt. Very good how they had a chapter each but they did repeat each others facts. of course you new the inevitable would happen when a drugged up rock star has a swimming pool and children. As an anti drug person I was appalled at how matter of fact the drug taking was recieved. I was not interested in that part but otherwise enjoyed yet another good Rock/ Pop autobiography
  8. Oh i just cannot give my read books away you are so brave.
  9. I read his first of the trilogy then was kicked out by my ex so as soon as I can get to her shed and recover them I will read the other two books
  10. Private Boarding School humour Is really what I was thinking of. At school the Pratchett readers were always the geeks who also played Dungeons and Dragons, and War Hammer games. I know of adult readers who are judges and well to do men and women so there could be a social divide in readers of his books
  11. Good question, I usually give it a hundred words then put it way and try again another day. Books I discarded like that as a teenager 25 years ago later I picked up and read it again to the end. Christine by Stephen King was one of those. Funnily enough I read IT when I was 13 and did not get past the first or second chapter but when I was 22 I re read it and it ranks one of my top ten best reads
  12. I am very glad that rubbish is over but very afraid at what rubbish will take over from it. Perhaps "I am a BF member please vote for the next book I should read." Can you imagine us all in one room actually in the flesh on TV? discussing books? Yea Me too:lol:
  13. 57 including 7 library books. More will be bought soon no doubt.
  14. Never a truer word spoken:blush:
  15. Yes I agree. It is for me a way to shut off from the world. I read more books since I was diagnosed with my illness than I did when I was normal.
  16. i think you are right you just have to keep reading, sometimes it can get better but if not you still have had that experience. A book is a book and should be read, thats what we do. If I have had a bad days birdwatching I think Oh well another day and it will be better, Just like books I dont just remember the bad days or in thos case the bad books gotta stop now as GF has placed a ramble alert on the Pc
  17. David Copperfield is in two un abridged volumes in my Dickens Collection and I do read a few chapters when the mood takes me, yes the words are a bit small and the stories are very descriptive and can be very droll and boring at times
  18. I Like Sue Thomas FBI that sometimes makes me sniffle
  19. This is the overdubbed advert I was talking about. My Mum cringes at the word "Poo" she is so old fashioned and Victorian.
  20. Sorry just realised it is an old thread. I will look out for more of this Author but if I guess the ending early on I will not continue.
  21. Had I not seen the films first I would not have read the books. I enjoyed the LOR Trilogy and will be starting The Hobbit. Then may read more Tolkien.
  22. Death: "I could murder a curry" - This is the point I was making. I just dont think it s very funny. So I don't think I will enjoy his books
  23. Through being bullied for reading and being quiet. I do not mix with anyone but my best friend, who I hardly ever see and my GF. But on here I have made some nice friends and I know many others on here that. 1. Do not bully me 2. Have the same interest. 3. Empathise with my plight. 4. One BF member even bought me two books as a house warming present.
  24. The touch and Fresh ads are Dutch and are overdubbed by the English.
  25. Several They just seem too "Intelligent" for me. The humour is a bit "Middle Class" and childish like it belongs to a secret gang of alternative fiction. Oh well It just does not seem to be my thing which is a shame. I would dearly like to read them so any tips on reading chronology or starter books would be helpful.
