  1. Good luck with the challenges Kylie!
  2. You've just reminded me about that book, might purchase it on Saturday. Heard good things about it, and have been looking to read it for a while, but it slipped my mind! Thanks.
  3. Stephenie Meyer managed to come to a compromise with what you have just said, that's why I loved it. Despite people voicing bad opinions about the ending, I'm sure Miss Meyer will feel a lot happier in herself.

    Hi, just joined

    Who doesn't love it here!
  5. Haha, typical sandwich and fruit today for my at school for lunch. Don't go for all that rubbish they serve up in school, much prefer to take my own. As for dinner, complete mystery until tonight! Might get a chinese though, considering it's Friday and the end of a long week.
  6. Welcome to the forum, your certainly in the right place to get recommendations, and talk with us about certain books. Hope to see you around! ~Ben.
  7. I'm thinking something along the lines of a condor, or maybe an eagle.
  8. Thank you, I just wanted to get to the end of the series I guess. Well, in the same way I didn't want to get there because of the sadness I felt that the wonderful Harry Potter books were finally at an end. 7-8years of growing up and hoping for the next instalment.
  9. Especially how the Harry Potter series had achieved world wide aclaim, and captured many children and adult's hearts. It was so hard to finish for her, and every single person who read and followed them all, felt a tear in their eye at the end..
  10. To be fair, we all know that Deathly Hallows was a bit of a let down, but lets admit that it was an amazing series and would everyone have been happy whatever happened? I doubt it.
  11. Ha, ok then, I'll see which ones I can find at the book store on Saturday. Thanks.
  12. I'm 15, and a very avid reader. Have been from a very young age, was reading the first Harry Potter book when I was 6/7, so I've been told. In year 5, at the age of 10, I was given the reading age of 15+, which was the highest you could go. It's obvious that people are reading less and less now in my generation. I think it's mostly because of the internet, and the fact that people would much rather be out with mates and things. It's quite sad really. If more teenagers read then maybe the youth of today wouldn't be stereotyped by the media.
  13. Been interested in Terry Pratchett, and meaning to give his books a whirl. What would you guys recommend I start with? I hate series' that are complicated and can be read in different orders, so if someone would provide me with a list in which order they think I should read them, then that would be great.
  14. Your certainly right about that, it's going to be great to see Edwards thoughts.
  15. Well I wont be doing a TBR pile then, because usually I just end up picking a book that I think sounds interesting, and reading it.. don't see the point of picking out a big list before-hand, unless I buy a lot of books in one sitting like I might do on Saturday. Oh joy! I should still manage to get through 100+ if not more, this year though. Saying that I've never made a list before, so I'm just going to try it this year and see how it goes.
  16. I think I might add this to the ever-growing 'read soon' pile, sounds very very interesting.
  17. Hm, I only right down interesting quotes, or characters down when I'm just generally reading. If I'm reading something as an assignment, or part of a group-read, then I'll just have a notepad ready next to me to take notes. Don't like doing it unless I need to though.
  18. I pretty much read Last Test, by Tamora Pierce, in one setting today. Had to stop for tea tho.
  19. Haha, well I took the 100% coursework, we still end up getting the same qualifications, we just do applied science, and not the different types of science; chemistry, physics, etc. And thanks for the good luck, I'll need it all. ~ Ben.
  20. I don't really understand what a TBR pile is? I'm assuming it's total books read, or books to read or something. Well like I said, If I find a good challenge I'll give it a shot. Otherwise I'll just stick to keeping track of all books read this year, and see how many I get through.
  21. Good luck with your planned reads. I usually read 2 or more every week so if I stick to a strict course then I will get over a 100 read this year. It's an enormous task, but I've never tried to keep track of all books read in a year, so this is the year for me!
  22. Well I'm in year 11, so my normal subjects, Maths and English. (Don't have an exam in Science.) Then the subjects I picked for GCSE; Religious Education, History, Spanish, and Music.
  23. Haven't even read any of these! Popping to Borders on Saturday, does everyone reckon I should buy the first one?
  24. I'm still yet to purchase Escaping Dreams, it had slipped my mind. Will add it to my wish list though.
  25. Some interesting challenges there. I tend not to concentrate on challenges, because most feel like I have to make a massive effort to read certain books, and I'm not exactly old enough to start trading and things like that. If I could find a challenge that I could complete in my own time, and that may just require me to buy books from bookstores every now and again, then I could be persuaded to take it. For now I think I'll just keep a list of 'books read in 09'. Anyway, sorry about that rant. Good luck with the challenges! ~Ben.
