Which is the best book in the Chronicles of Narnia?
Adam replied to Kell's topic in Children's / Young Adult
My sister has all the books. I always wanted to read these. Maybe one day I'll give them a try. -
Can you resist buying in a bookshop?
Adam replied to Galactic Space Hamster's topic in General Book Discussions
I don't like libraries. Something about reading someone elses book. I don't like it. I would rather buy the book and finish it when I want to finish it. Plus the library fees are crazy. I just like to buy the books. Its like my own library and I like collecting books. Some people collect movies or CDs, I collect books. So when I'm in the book store and as I said before I usually leave with around 4, I consider it adding to my collection -

I'm guilty. Everytime I walk into a book store I usually leave with atleast 4. However, I only go into the book store if I'm in a book buying mood -
The back cover reads: Until that September of 1952, Luke Chandler had never kept a secret or told a single lie. But in the long, hot summer of his seventh year, two groups of migrant workers- and two very dangerous men- came through the Arkansas Delta to work the Chandler cotton farm. And suddenly mysteries are flooding Luke's world. A brutal murder leaves the town seething in gossip and suspicion. A beautiful young woman ignites forbidden passions. A fatherless baby is born...and someone has begun furtively painting the bare clapboards of the Chandler farmhouse, slowly, painstakingly, bathing the run-down structure in gleaming white. And as young Luke watches the world around him, he unravels secrets that could shatter lives- and change his family and his town forever... Very good read

I am planning on starting this. I downloaded the list. I don't think I'll read them all, some just don't appeal, but there are some interesting reads on there that I would like to give a try
-
That list is so cool! I am gonna go through it. I'm sure there are some very good reads on it

I am getting deeper in this book. I have been busy lately so the time to read has been very little. I am reading this book before bed and it is not such a good idea. It leaves you with a sick feeling in your stomach. It is not a BOO scary but a eerie scary. I don't know if that makes any sense, but I am really enjoying this book and I am looking forward to posting my review.

Wow there are quite some impressive readers on here. I am probably 12-15 books a year
-
You phrased that perfectly. I couldn't agree more

I like what Grisham is doing. He writes what he wants. I would rather read something he has passion for, as opposed to something that was forced just to stay within a certain category. I think I might wait until his new book gets introduced in paperback before I drop the money, but I would love to give it a read.

LOL I was worried I was a 'light' reader. I love reading, but finding the time is just so hard. Like most of you I read before bed aswell. There is just less noise and there are no distractions. I manage about a book and a half a month.

I found this interview with Stephen King and I just thought I would share it:

I would like to apologize for bring up such an old topic, but I find this man so interesting. He is a true inspiration to me and I love his works. Those pictures posted on this thread really really neat. I found this video about the 'Innocent Man' and I would just like to share it: I find his voice so cool. I would love to talk to this man.

On average how many pages do you read a day? I know some people are able to get through books in one sitting, something I have never done. I try to savor the book and I read maybe twenty to thirty pages a day. I am so busy and finding the time to read is hard for me.

Yummers. I have a really big sweet tooth. I have to watch what I eat tho I'm on a strick diet for my trianing. I find its so hard right now so close to Halloween. I find myself munching on those little bite sized treats

That is very true. I find it addiciting. The story lines seem to draw you in. Right now on 'The Street' I'm almost positive Tracy is going to do something to Charlie.

Last night I was just lost in this book. His writing is so good. I read 100 pages yesterday. I have been reading for years, I can't believe I have never picked up one of his works.

My goal would be to one day have my very own room just for books and reading. I'll line the walls with bookshelves and in a cozy corner i'll put a big cozy chair That would be my dream reading room

Where does everyone keep their books? Is it in the study? A fancy room? Bedroom? I keep mine in the computer room on this tiny little shelf. I have more books then I do shelf room For the last year I have promised myself to buy a new shelf, but instead I buy more books

Prime Rib is very good. It melts in your mouth, very tender

LOL yeah. It is really big here in Canada. It is broadcast on the CBC network in prime time! Unfortunetly we are not at the same point. We are a few months behind.

LOL, not by any means. When I was in high school I did a lot of volunteer work and I enjoy helping people. I find it very rewarding to help make a difference in a community. A fireman and a paramedic help those in need and I find that very rewarding and exciting and I am up for the challenge. Right now I am taking a few medical courses at the local college and training to get into the best possible shape. Next summer I write my test to enter the fire service so I hope everything goes good! And thank you to everyone for all the warm welcomes. This place feels like a nice tight community

Thank you for that info. I will definetly look into those books
