  1. I would get one of those. I would have ebooks and comics on it. That would be great. *edit* any idea of the cost? *edit 2* nice to see waterstones will be flogging ELECTRONIC books for "much the same price" as physcial books. *shakes head*
  2. I have a bit of paper beside my desk. then at the end of the year i will probably make it into a database that will be updated as i go.
  3. My mum watches pride and prejudice about once a month (dont even start me on this.) so seeing her squirm at the ad for this was the high point of yesterday for me, maybe now she will watch one of the 4 trillion dvd's we have laying around.
  4. Disk drives can be funny things, they may read certain disks, not others, or sometimes they just work fine till you REALLY need them to. It's also possible the games of your oh dont actually need the disk (common these days)
  5. Sounds like either the drive or the IDE cable is going, take it to a computer shop (a proper one, one that builds computers, not a pc world/comet) and they will replace the cable in the shop to test it, if that solves it your looking about 5quid max id say. If it needs a new drive..id guestimate bout 30 pounds.
  6. ^^ what Miche said.
  7. As mentioned above they could have easily removed the pointlessly long parts with them camping and made it into one movie. But the public do not always like long movies, i know plenty of people who refer to anything over 1:30 as "too long" .
  8. not sure what you mean by "doesent like" ? modems/routers are pretty cheap now - in fact most isp's give you them free, i thought plus net did too /me runs off to check apparently not, they seem to have overhauled everything in the last few weeks and changed to just one standard residential package..
  9. heh, yeah. 1984 is rapidly heading towards "instruction manual"
  10. I was going to answer nineteen eighty four but with the amount of surveillance etc I think "fiction" may not be quite the correct term for that book any more.
  11. oh for god's sake, why now? do they want EVEN more money? >_<
  12. well they dont call you Nici "7 foot 3" 76 behind your back cos your small..

  13. but the strike is over and has been for some time >_<
  14. you loved it. you big emo you.

  15. To be honest, there are not many movies that make a loss, untill a director has a proven track record, vast amounts of money is not just thrown at them, Kevin smith had 3-4 movies under his belt before mirimax started pressuring him to spend more money. Then there is merch! companies are still profiting off movies that have been out for years, pulp fiction, scarface alone have *huge* amounts of poster/tshirt etc sales. Movie companies and Record companies have a lot in common - they both cry at the prospect of loosing a few quid profit when there profits are in the billions.
  16. The book im currently reading is a factual account of the Sicilian mafia, not the first place id expect to find a laugh but earlier i was reading and the author described a mafioso of "Sticking out like a toad in a tutu" This maybe a common saying somewhere? but I have never heared it and I eventually just had to put the book down for a few mins.
  17. *pulp fictions in nici's general direction*

  18. Well once its finished it has to go through post production, editing etc, make sure its done right and nothing needs re-filmed, then the promotion and such takes place..then its released to its baying public, it sometimes takes months to brainwash people that your movie is awesome. However in the case of harry potter, i can see that movie being available for download someplace before cinema, the pirate groups now have 9 months to get to that movie.
  19. Great movie. Have you seen donnie brasco? thats a good movie with captain depp in it
  20. it gets worse, the two movies will be ages apart, maybe even a year if they stick to their current attitude.
  21. me too. Il see you outside the cinema with picket signs!
  22. Welcome!
  23. Part 7 was always planned as 2 movies as there was going to be too much to cram in (book 7 is huge to be fair). Then again they could have released it as a super long movie, but there would be less profit in that I suppose. Money grabbing studio's make me a sad panda
