  1. 1- Who was your favourite character and why? I honestly just loved Richard. By the end of the book, I was practically in love, especially after his bravery in the labyrinth. I really identified with him, being the only one from London Above, and I feel like he gave the story a bit of reality which made the alien world of London Below that much more unnerving. 2- Was there a particular part you enjoyed/disliked more than the rest? I particularly enjoyed the final confrontation with the bad guy (I won't say who) at the very end. Also, Mr. Vandemar's last moment in the book made me think a bit about the nature of evil. 3- Was this the first book you've read in this genre/by this author, has it encouraged you to read more? This is the first book by Neil Gaiman I have read, and I will definitely read more. 4- Were there any parts/ideas you struggled with? I didn't really struggle with anything in the story. There were a few things that bothered me, but it was mostly in the way Gaiman wrote. Especially the hesitant dialog...he used periods instead of elipses, and for some reason, it annoyed me. I found myself getting confused and irritated. 5- Overall, was reading the book an enjoyable experience? Absolutely! This will be one that a read again in the future. I'm also insisting that my older brother read it, and I don't often like to lend books. I just know he'll love it.

Well, it's....a job. Badly managed and with weird ideas of fashion merchandising, but they pay me to sit on a stool and read a book, so how can I complain? LOL!

  12. LOL...I don't have a dentist either, and I also carry a book (or two) with me absolutely everywhere. But not everything I read is meaningful or intelligent. Sometimes I read a collection of For Better or For Worse or Calvin and Hobbes just for something amusing. Better than TV!!
  13. *snort* Yeah, me, for one! Thanks for dissing my favorite book of all time! I agree with you, Spooncat! I tried reading Atonement, but I could see where it was going and I honestly found it really annoying!
  14. I hope you had a happy birthday!!

  15. Well, she definitely had an advantage over other women her age at the time...her parents were William Godwin and Mary Wollstonecraft, and she was married to Percy Bysshe Shelley!

  23. Welcome to the forum! I'm so glad you found us! I love that you're a bookseller...that's one of my many dreams. Do you own your own store? What kind of books to you sell...and read?
  24. Well, a great big hello and good morning to you, too!!

  25. I don't like figuring things out too far in advance. When that happens, I find the rest of the book boring as it plays out predictably, or I just don't finish it. Sometimes it is nice to have a sense of what's going to happen, though. Still, I like being surprised!
