  1. Welcome to the forum, Emma! The Witching Hour is one of my favorite books by Anne Rice, I hope you enjoy it!
  2. I'm still considering entering the MLIS program at the University of Washington, which would allow me to become a licensed librarian (and make a lot of money), but graduate school is expensive. I've also toyed around with the idea of opening a second-hand bookstore, which is still a possibility. And, of course, the idea of making money from my book reviews is very attractive.
  3. What's SAHM???

  4. Of course, it varies, but generally I bring home about 5 or 6 books a month, often from Borders and used book stores. But during lean times, it can be more like 2 or 3.

You and your family are in my thoughts!! :console:

  6. It's definitely worth reading! I think I'd recommend this one to pretty much everyone I know.

    Hellooo!

    Welcome to the forum, Cassandra!
  8. I buy all my books, either from someplace like Amazon or Borders, or I buy them used. After I read them, they just find a place on a shelf or in one of my many piles of books. Once in a while, I'll get rid of some, but very rarely. i tend to keep them all.

    Happy birthday, Megan!!! :)

  10. Oh, I remember those Scholastic orders!! That was always an exciting day for me! I loved getting new books, even as a kid. I think I got a lot of Babysitter's Club books that way.
  11. I started reading this and have found myself laughing many times. Emma is such a blind little snob, but at least she has a good heart!
  12. Happy birthday!!! :)

    Your Age?

My 10-year high school reunion is this weekend! LOL! Needless to say, I'm skipping it.

  16. I don't think it's out anywhere yet...but I think it's released in the US tomorrow, July 1st. Maybe it's the same day?
  17. I was contacted by this author about two weeks ago. This is her first book, and I thought it was fantastic! Here's my review: Date of Publication: 2008, Emerald Book Company Number of Pages: 241 Synopsis (from back cover): Twenty-one-year-old narcoleptic Angel Duet knows her father harbors secrets. he loves and protects her, but his suspicious refusal to discuss her mother

Welcome to the forum, Carmen!! I also enjoyed The Alchemist. Have you read any other books by Coelho? I've read The Valkyries, but I didn't like it as much.
  19. I always listen to classical radio, and I can get it online, too! I would suggest a good range of composers, like Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Debussy, Stravinsky, Musorgsky, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, and others like that. Just get a couple of classical CD collections, like Greatest Hits or something. Those always have a good selection!
  20. I would send it back to her, with a note of thanks, but saying it wasn't really your thing. Otherwise, if you lie and say that you read the whole thing, she might ask you about it in the future. Um....awkward!!
  21. I went to The Cheesecake Factory in Seattle with my mom, sister-in-law, cousins, and my two aunts. I had an appetizer-sized Caesar salad which could have fed 5 people. I didn't even finish a quarter of it. What a waste of food! Why do these places give you such huge portions?

    Good Evening

Welcome to the forum, Tam! I also recently went back to college after a few less-than-stellar attempts a few years back, and I'm loving it! I'm getting my degree in Humanities, with my major concentration in English.
