  6. I finished The Historian this morning after breakfast. I dont quite know what to make of the way it ended. Its the epilogue that has me puzzled. Why was it necessary? and what was the purpose of the 2nd chapter about . I can only think that Elizabeth Kostova is planning some kind of sequel. The 1st paragraph of the epilogue was a bit pointless to I think. She should have left it where it was when she ended the story. Dont know what to read next
  7. Well do tell!!!!

  20. Hi there annie, notice you are reading Lee Child. I have read most of the earlier books, but have slipped back on his latest ones. I have always enjoyed them, very tense and exciting too,.

  21. Thanks for that Michelle. Obviously a lot of BCF members feel the same way as I do about The Historian. I too feel I have learnt such a lot about that area of Europe that I never knew before. I am more than half way through now.
  22. Veggie kebabs and couscous
  23. The Historian is an unbelievable book, I cant put it down. It is actually disturbing my sleep because even when I have switched off the light I sort of dream about it. What a book and what an author. If this is her first novel she is a genius and I look forward to her next book. I dont know if I will be able to write a review because it is such a long and complex story. Who else has read it out there and did it affect you??
  24. Most nights I start to nod off, but I try to get to the end of a chapter, or a section. If I force myself to reach a certain point, then when I finally switch off the light, my brain usually says"oh no you dont!!" and I lie awake for ages. Prospero - good to see you back, I have missed you and your sharp wit.
