  1. Bad luck with the weather Inver - our match this evening was touch and go, but we just managed to get through it with 102 waterlogged supporters! Maybe we shouldn't have bothered - we lost 6-2 to one man, widely considered to be the best striker in the league and who we just missed out on signing in March.

Still, Liskeard in 7th place went down 6-0, so we've narrowed the gap! :blush2:

  2. Certainly sounds like a bad case of deja vu Inver! I'll be sending some Cornish support through the ether on Tuesday!

We managed quite a feat of magic yesterday by being beaten all over the field by Cullompton and still coming away with a 1-0 win. Cullompton can feel hard done by because our 'keeper brought down their striker outside the box when he was the last man and he only got a yellow card for it - we're still scratching our heads over that one.

  3. Any game for your boys today Inver?

We're in with a mathematical chance of going 7th today - we'll need to beat Cullompton Rangers first though, and they're one of our bogey teams!

We've confirmed our application to play in next season's FA Vase this week. Formal acceptances won't be until June, but it's looking good - I think I'll book my trip to Wembley now!

  4. We had quite a stright forward (but not easy) 3-1 win tonight. Liskeard lost to the leaders, so we're getting ever closer to 7th place!

The best teams we've played in the last 4 weeks have tended to be those lurking near the bottom of the table- the threat of relegation is a great motivator!

  5. Bad luck with the weather Inver - the next game will probably be called of due to excessive sunshine!

We're already into the midweek games - I think we've got 16 days to play 8 games!

More congratulations to Fleetwood - it's always good to see a new team go up.

  6. Fingers crossed for the youngsters Inver!

We managed a straight-forward 2-0 away win in the rain yesterday, so the gap to 7th place is now down to 6 points. On Tuesday we play Ivybridge who look almost certain to go down and Liskeard (who are currently in 7th) are against the runaway leaders, so there's a good chance that by the end of Tuesday we'll just be 3 points behind!

Plus our 2nds won again yesterday and only need 1 more point for a 5th successive promotion. The sun is shining and all is well with the world!

  7. Refs are a strange breed. Ypours sounded a bit harsh, whereas the one we had on Wednesday was full of the milk of human kindness (or he'd lost his red card!).

  8. Comiserations on the result Inver, but I'm sure promotion will help to ease the pain. We were promoted 2 seasons ago after missing out on the title by 2 points, but the team that finished above us are now back down near the bottom of Division 1, whereas we're still in the Premier!

Thursday - I was so tired when I wrote the above, that I forgot about last night's result! Quite a comfortable 2-0 victory, no red cards and the Liskeard manager was unusually quiet (probably wishing they'd carried on with the original game!).

  9. Today I'm experiencing the benefits of not being in the Cornwall Senior Cup Final. It's been declared on after a 10am pitch inspection, but the rain is getting more apocalyptic by the second! :intherain:

Never mind, we have a pattern of appearing in every other cup final, so I'm looking forward to balmy conditions in the 2013 final!

  10. Bad luck Inver. Still it sounds like Glendale are in good position to have realistic chance of the cup next season.

We're gearing up for our home match against Liskeard Athletic on Wednesday. This is the game that was abandoned at half-time earlier in the seaosn when Liskeard refused to play on with a change of referee. I feel they may not be getting a warm welcome - their manager is almost a pantomime villain!

  11. We managed a 2-1 defeat this morning against our local rivals. Our differing seasons really told - we're cruising to a comfortable 8th place finish, whereas St Blazey are desperately fighting against relegation. At the final whistle, they were celebrating like they'd won the league and our players seemed disinterested. Hopefully we'll be more fired up for next Wednesday's match against the team in 7th!

  12. You certainly do cold weather better than we do! We're a bit chilly with some half-hearted rain at the moment, so it still looks OK for the our big local derby on Friday.

  13. Sounds like an epic encounter!

Our 2nds beat the division leaders yesterday to keep the title race alive - if they win their 2 games in hand, they'll be level on points with a better goal difference - it's nailbiting stuff!

  14. Last night was an exercise in sheer cruelty. Penzance have lost 7 first team players as the transfer window closes today, so could only field some fringe and reserve players - their goalkeeper was actually one of their reserve team strikers! We scored after 45 seconds and strolled to a 4-0 half-time lead. The second half seemed to be treated as a training session as we effectively stopped competing and only scored 1 more. Final score 5-0.

I really don't know what's gone on behind the scenes at Penzance, but they've also just lost their player-coach Wayne Quinn (a former England Under-21 and Newcastle United player). Still the 3 points were very welcome - we're only 10 points adrift of Liskeard now!

The weather has gone a bit Arctic down here as well - I think we've been a bit spolied over the last couple of weeks! Good luck for your weekend Inver!

  15. We had a great 2-1 win at Cully last night, but at the expense of a torn hamstring and two bandaged heads! Not much time for our lads to recover as we're away at Penzance on Friday!

We've just leapt from 11th to 8th - now we just have to bridge a 13 point gap to Liskeard in 7th!

  16. Another great win for The Austell yesterday by a comfortable 4-0 margin. We're on championship form now - shame we're still only 11th! How did it go for your teams Inver?

  17. Home to Bovey Tracy tomorrow. We hold the record for the biggest score draw of the season so far - 4-4 at their place. Should be a good few goals tomorrow - hopefully all for us!

  18. Tragic for the Killie player on a day which should have been the highlight of his career.

Fingers crossed for Andy - it almost sounds like an episode of The Apprentice!

Austell's expected drubbing failed to materialise. We took an early lead which lasted for 4 minutes, then went behind to a second half penalty. From then on it was all one-way traffic as we laid siege to the Falmouth goal. The referee obliged by giving us 4 minutes of stoppage time, allowing us to score an equaliser in the last minute! Happy Days!

  19. Yes, I heard about what happended at the Cup Final, but I haven't heard anything more of the chap's condition - how is he? One good thing to come out of the Muamba situation is how most online football forum members have forgotten their differences and have become more of a community - it makes a nice change.

As for Austell, we had an excellent 3-0 win on Saturday against Dartmouth. We really needed that win because we're away at Falmouth Town tomorrow night, and with the best will in the world, we're probably in for a real battering!
