Narrow Dog - really funny book especially those parts about the Whippet - He is just like my lurcher -
Any body got this book? My mum got me it for Christmas and got the OH 1001 albums you must hear before you die (he was so engrossed i did not hear a peep out of him for days) I really like this book as it gives some infor about the book the author, when it came out, whether it is a film but not too much info to spoil the book. It does not contain childrens books so i hope they do a childrens books version

I got my version from ebay and i love it as it has stills from the film in it and Vivian Leigh and Clark Gable are gorgeous. The book is really battered but you can tell how much it has been read and loved

Thats what annoys me about oxfam they are very pricey compared to some charity shops and they tend to charge alot regardless of condition. My dad lives in Otley and they are some fab shops there

I have loads of book marks but cannot find them when i need them so tend to use bits of paper or post its with words on to look up or books to read, they are good if you are travelling as they are sticky as you cannot lose your page!! I have a nice one of mill cats from the Hockney gallery. I used to be alot more precious about my books until my step mum died then i thought life is too short, i was being careful with a book when i was in hospital with my stepmum, i had a book nearly read like new in a dust bag in my bag and i thought sod it!!! Life is too short to get upset over a book. However i still will not lend my SIL any books as she destroys them and i cannot bend back corners or put them face down -
I love Historical fiction but i have to join a library to read more as my books shelves are fit to bursting!!!

There is probably alot more than this but i have just thought of: 1. Middlemarch by George Elliot - Did it for Alevel hated it - awful and dull 2. Holy Fools by Joanne Harris - i tried Gentlemen and Players too so i can safely not try anything or hers again as it not for me. 3. Anything by Patricia Scanlan - Very dull and predictable chick lit author 4. The virgin blue - Tracy Chevalier - very dissappointing 5. Labyrinth - Kate Mosse - A really good idea but poor story telling!!!
-
Well i read the first few pages of Narrow dog and giggled alot, my dad came around picked up the books started reading and laughing, I managed to get it back off him though!!! What made me laugh is Diggery my lurcher was doing the same with a packet of crisps as Jim was with a packet of pork scratchings and my lurcher is very greyhoundy and fits in with how he describes Jim the Whippet Looks promising.........

I do not know if i am brave enough to read this i was a horsey girl and read all the horsey books and remember being a bit traumatised by this, so i am not sure!!! If i see it cheap then i might be tempted Although i remember my mum made me watch Old Yeller and i have never forgiven her for that either

I loved Out but i am supposed to be on a book diet!!! I have so many books to read but i do like having a choice. Although i am moving to Brighouse with a really good library also tesco and just books and what girl can resist a bargain
-
I tend to get alot of books from charity shops unless there is something i want now and then i will get it from Amazon or maybe Waterstones if it is cheaper on 3 for 2 or no different in price. My latest bargains are: The Handmaids tale - Margaret Atwood Holes - Louis Sachar One flew over the cuckoos next - Ken Kesey Narrow dog to Carcassone - Terry Darlington - Which has been recommended to me as any whippet or sight hound owner will love this book. I love charity shop finds as i am not too precious about them as i tke my books everywhere with me

'Anti-Muggle Pranksters,' Said Mr Weasley, frowning, 'We had two last week, one in Wimbledon, one in the elephant and castle. Muggles are pulling the flush and instaed of everything disappearing - well you can imagine. The poor things keep calling in those -pumbles, I think they're called - you know, the ones who mend pipes and things.' Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix I know it is longer than the 3 lines but i wanted to get in all on as it is quite funny as Mr Weasley is talking about regurgitating public toilets!! -
I am re reading this series of books and i am enjoying them all the more this time around. I love watching the films after i have read them and seeing the changes or what parts they are missing. Also i am really enjoying the Order of the Phoenix more than i did the first time but i think that might have been because eithjer i read it very quickly the first time or i was ill when i read it. It is interesting reading these books knwoing what happens and picking up the clues as you read them.
