Started The Jungle Books a few days ago and enjoying it so far. My comments will go in the reading group thread.

Has anybody else started reading this yet? I've read the first two stories and have really enjoyed them. I saw the Disney film when I was young but I can hardly remember anything about it. I will have to watch it again when I've finished. I am loving all the characters, Bagheera, Baloo and Kaa the snake. The writing is very small and dense in my copy though which makes me feel like I'm making slow progress.

Linda what an encouraging story. Sounds like perseverance was key for you. Welcome to BCF My question is: How do you find inspiration to sit down and write? I mean how do you stimulate your creative juices?

Finished Carrie. It's a very well written book. The ending is a bit, well, OTT I guess, but it kind of works and the book is slightly different to the film so it wasn't as predictable as I'd feared. 9/10 Only read 3 of Short Cuts (Raymond Carver short stories) They were pretty good but I didn't really get the point of them. They ended kind of abruptly I guess. will pick up again at some future point. Next I guess it has to be The Jungle Books
