Yes they are, it's not common to make homemade baked beans here.
I have tried a couple of times, I think, but would love your recipe if you don't mind sharing it 😊
Now cheese and jam, that would be even better!
We always have baked beans on toast too, although I love a cold baked bean sandwich as well
I wonder if it's the same as ours?
I remember reading this when I was a child and enjoying it. But I've often found when re-reading childhood books, they just don't have the same impact. On the other hand, there are several children's books I didn't read until an adult and I absolutely loved them. I regret not having read them as a child so I could compare my impressions.
We had roast lamb too, roast potatoes, kumara (purple sweet potato, native to here) peas and broccoli. Then toasted hot cross buns with strawberry jam 🙂
Reading The Pink Front Door by Stella Gibbons. This is the fourth Stella Gibbons book I've read and have enjoyed them all, but Cold Comfort Farm was definitely her best.
Recipes look great, Muggle 😊 The times I've tried making cornbread, it's always turned out rather dry and not particularly appetising. Is it finely ground cornmeal you use?
I have the same problem with making a loaf so I usually make bread rolls in my breadmaker. I use the same recipe as for a loaf but just use the dough mode. I shape the rolls, rise again and bake in the oven. Then I freeze the ones I don't use. Thawed out in the microwave, they are as fresh as when they're baked
My closest library is 30mins drive away, I tend to read mostly ebooks now, so don't visit very often. However, they've just built a brand, spanking new one which is opening very shortly, so looking forward to exploring.
I think it was originally on Netflix but I've found it on YouTube and I'm casting it to the TV. It has Greek subtitles underneath which is a little annoying but it's SUCH a good series, I think you'd like it Muggles.
I'll definitely look out for Theodosia if it's anything like Flavia! (it's time Alan Bradley wrote another one!)
That's a lot better than me, Muggles, I'm only onto my third book.
I've been binge watching Foyle's War when I get a chance (like you I'll watch a series back to back if I really like it).
