  2. Don't Go To Strangers ~ J.J Cale (very cruisy song)
  3. Don't know if any of you guys from the US are near here, but this is a pretty impressive amount of snow! Seeing what was coming in pictures 8 and 19 would be enough to scare the living daylights out of you! http://diply.com/trendyjoe/these-are-pictures-from-last-nights-snowstorm-in-buffalo/64548
  4. four girls, one of whom looked surprisingly familiar. There was Poppy, Anna, Carlina and Petrel looking bedraggled and rather grubby. 'Thought we might find you here. They got sick of our singing, so they let us all out on condition we didn't leave town,' explained Poppy. 'Do you think we could stay at yours? We could murder a hot bath!'
  5. This quote of Poppyshake's is brilliant! Love it I found a book on how to be invisible. Take a pinch of keyhole. And fold yourself up. You cut along a dotted line. You think inside out. And you're invisible. Eye of Braille Hem of anorak Stem of wallflower Hair of doormat How To Be Invisible by Kate Bush
  6. depths of the leather chair. 'Oy! You!' she said, poking him in the stomach with her mop handle. 'Wakey wakey! Wat you doin' 'ere? This ain't no dosshouse, you know! This 'ere is a respectable joint. OUT!!' And she chased him out with her mop, jabbing painfully at his retreating figure. Poor Itsme, he'd been having such a lovely dream about ............
  7. True Men Don't Kill Coyotes ~ Red Hot Chilli Peppers
  8. You obviously know more about this than your student Duncan, you're using the word in it's scientific context. Oc′cam's ra′zor n. the principle in philosophy and science that assumptions introduced to explain a thing must not be multiplied beyond necessity, and hence the simplest of several hypotheses is always the best in accounting for unexplained facts. Also called law of parsimony
  9. took himself off to a cosy, quiet corner where there was a commodious leather chair. He pulled out his book, got himself comfortable and promptly ..............
  10. Long Time Gone ~ Crosby, Stills and Nash
  11. Aunt (Jeeves and Wooster)
  12. The King Must Die ~ Elton John (probably one of Elton's lesser known songs, but one of his best IMHO and my absolute favourite performance ) http://youtu.be/KQjIUIZRNxE
  13. On The Road To Find Out ~ Cat Stevens
  14. I wear progressives Duncan, but for short sightedness, not long. I'm pretty happy with them. I got used to them very quickly and have no problem with depth perception or peripheral vision as some people do. You very quickly just automatically tip your head slightly to get the best focus and you learn to turn your head to see to the side and behind, rather than looking out the corner of your eyes (but if you wear glasses, you already do that anyway) They are far superior to old bi-focals, I'm sure. I do have a problem getting the prescription right for reading small print, but that's just me, as I can still read perfectly well with my eyes.
  15. Loved this book too Duncan. I see there was a movie made with Maggie Smith as Aunt Augusta. She would suit the part so well I've always meant to read more books by him ....have you read any of his other works, and if so, are there any you particularly recommend?
  16. Bright Side Of The Road ~ Van Morrison
  17. Keep It Simple ~ Van Morrison (he's still got it)
  18. Falling Slowly ~ Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova A really lovely song, beautiful harmonies.
