I'd Do Anything (with a little Britain's Got Talent)
Mia replied to Mia's topic in Music / TV / Films
Another travesty of a result! That's almost all my favourites gone now Sarah's gone. There was no way she deserved to go, but I just had a feeling when she got picked to perform with the Olivers. She has a lovely voice, but some of the panel had it in for her from the start. For goodness' sake, she had to dye her hair darker before they started taking her seriously! Then last night she was accused of having limited facial expressions. I honestly think Lloyd Webber sabotaged her somewhat with the **** song he made her sing. She did an excellent job with it, but it's still a rubbish song. And Lloyd Webber said she sang it exactly how he wanted her to sing it and then still got rid of her! She was never going to please them. I truely cannot understand what the panel see in Jessie and Rachel, they really are nothing special. I think it should have been Niamh who went. -
I quite enjoyed tonight's episode, and thought it was better than the first part of the story. Random thoughts:

~V~, I totally agree with you about Alex. Perhaps it was the way the programme was edited, but I didn't see him contribute one idea or even speak! All he does is look scornful when someone else makes a mistake, while he doesn't even try to do anything. And please, could someone tell me where should that apostrophe go?! Not knowing is driving me nuts! I went for after the s, ie singles', but I'm not sure and I'm usually OK with punctuation. It was really funny that they debated it for 3.5 hours!

I thought last night's bullying of Sara was dreadful. They have all obviously decided to make her the scapegoat. As Esiotrot said, everytime she opened her mouth she was shouted down by Jenny. Even after, when she returned to the house, they wouldn't let her speak to defend herself. It was really vicious bullying, especially by that tall guy (Lee?) - he was vile. I hate to think what sort of treatment she is going to get next week. Kevin deserved to go, but I think if he hadn't been stupid and had taken Jenny into the boardroom "Sralan" would have fired her instead. But Kevin has been useless before. Rafe has gone up in my opinion - he was articulate in the pitches and stuck up for Sara at the house.

I'm still watching this and it's really good. We're just up to the part where

I'll be starting "The Woods" tomorrow, then I think I'll have read all his paperback novels. I hope he writes some more Myron Bolitar stories.

I like Keisha and Ashley! I think Niamh should have gone - her singing was below par, but she gets through on her looks (like Samantha). Keisha was great in the routine they did tonight and did not deserve to go. I'm glad Lloyd Webber said he would help her - I'm sure she'll get a part in a musical. And yes, I did notice him stomping off! -
Yay! I like Martha - she should never have left so soon. Mixed feelings about this story. It seemed a little slow and stretched out to fill two episodes. Liked: Didn't like:

Tonight I thought Keisha, Ashley and Sarah were very good, plus Jessie, although it pains me to say it (I don't like her). I think Niamh and Samantha should be in the sing-off, but the chances of that happening are minimal! -
I was surprised that Sir Alan didn't get rid of Jenny - it looked like he was going to, then suddenly it was Lindi who went. I agree with Esiotrot that Lucinda's team definitely did the best, they were much more organised and professional, like when they did a proper taste test. The other team just turned up late, and when they found no-one there, asked two (possibly tipsy) men in the pub to taste their ice cream! I was definitely surprised that Lucinda was so organised and good at management - I really did think she was useless before this week. However, she did herself no favours in the boardroom when she started tale-telling: "Helene said that Jenny was an evil b**ch!" You could see Sir Alan's eyes glaze over at that point.

Oops, I must not have been paying attention properly, as I assumed the pictures Molly was drawing were of Sylar (who gives me the creeps just to look at him, BTW!).

Last night's programme was good. There's always one horrible person who you'd love to slap, isn't there?! Last night it was that snobby woman who fancied herself as a gourmet cook. I thought she was incredibly rude, snooping in Vera's bedroom like that - she even opened drawers and took out her underwear!! I'm glad she didn't win. Vera was a bit of a strange one, though. Her Alan Sugar "joke" was bizarre, pointless and extremely unfunny. You could almost hear the tumbleweed blowing past as the rest of them looked on in embarrassment!! Excruciating.

I enjoyed last night's episode. Yes, it was perhaps a little slow, but it was kind of a "catch up", basically setting the scene for most of the main characters after the events of the last season finale. The new characters look interesting, Hiro was funny as usual (I love Hiro!), but I wasn't exactly shocked to see that . Looking forward to the next one!

Hurrah! I love this programme - I'm so excited it's back!

DWMG - had you by any chance been eating cheese before you went to bed? OnyxAngel - do tell. It can't be any weirder than DWMG's.

OK then, you dislike Gwen and I'll dislike Ianto!

Time of year makes no difference.

I totally agree with this being annoying, but I do always read them! Not always as soon as I finish the book - sometimes I go back to them - but I do read them. It's nice to get a glimpse of the next book for free.

Ooh, harsh! "I'd do anything" indeed! Well, Lloyd Webber's in Vegas, so I don't think she could have got there and back so quickly. Barrowman's gay, Denise isn't, so that leaves Barry... Now I've got images in my head that I didn't really want. -
That "every song must end" comment was a bit worrying. That was a good, enjoyable episode with lots of emotion, humour and "doing the right thing". Liked: Didn't like: Er... nothing, really! Apart from the worrying comment that every song must end. A solid, entertaining episode.

Yep, that started me off too. There is nothing I like about Ianto! I don't find him attractive, he is very annoying and whiny. Plus, what does he actually do apart from get it together with Jack? Russell should have stuck with the original plan! Sorry OnyxAngel!

Shock result tonight! I fully expected Keisha to be in the sing off yet again, and she wasn't, it was Ashley and Francesca. I thought that Ashley had no chance, as Lloyd Webber said last night that he didn't rate her voice. But lo and behold, he said he'd taken the views of the panel into consideration and he saved Ashley! I was very surprised. I do like Ashley's voice, so I don't know why he doesn't like it. Oh well. -

I have always thought of this as one of my least favourite Pratchett books, but when I read it for only the second time a few months ago, I remembered just how hilarious it is! I really enjoyed it, so I can't explain why, when someone asks me what my fave Pratchett is, this one never springs to mind. Maybe I just prefer the Discworld ones. -
Gelfling, if he's only getting one more chance from you, I recommend The Shining. I don't think it will disappoint. And The Shawshank Redemption is on C4 tonight! Yay!
