  1. now that Halloween is over, the Thanksgiving planning starts!
  2. not at all...not for me anyway
  3. we lived! :D now the cleanup begins :/
  4. We still have power...although parts of my town is in the dark..last I heard I think there were about 120,000 without power in the state.... though I haven't been able to check because the power company site is down at the moment. The lights have flickered a little bit though. The wind gusts are getting wicked as well....can feel the house shake...on the plus side the higher wind gusts are supposed to cease a bit sooner than expected. Right about now Sandy is hitting Southern NJ...luckily my sister is in Northern NJ! Now is when it starts to get fun :/ *edit: so now we are at about 400,000 without power....we keep having little surges....grrrr!
  5. indeed....Obama already signed an Emergency Declaration for us and several other states yesterday
  6. thanks I'll update throughout the day.....well, for as long as the power is on anyway!
  7. Thanks Muggle xx rain and wind. serious wind. My immediate area is not in big danger of flooding either, but who knows what the town itself will look like later. will do a bit of extra cooking this morning just in case and maybe bake something sweet.....we are just really waiting now
  8. they have evacuated most of the shoreline towns here....I am more inland, so we are ok on that part. It's almost 7:30 am here, its been raining for several hours and the wind is already picking up....the windows are shaking a bit. They are predicting some wind gusts up to 85+ miles per hour here. I am staying home from work today, I just can't risk it. Possibly tomorrow...will see. Also depends on if there's power as well. At least my state seems to be more prepared than we were at this time last year. Wish us luck :/
  9. love Ringu...all of them! Ju-on too (though I like Ringu much better) I love the original Halloween 1&2...so cheesy, but I can't help it! The Shining, Paranormal Activity, Night of the Living Dead (original and first remake not too bad)
  10. Consider it a public service warning
  11. Now there's several hours of wasted reading I"ll never get back Finished When She Woke....no idea what I'll start next
  12. about 50 pages into When She Awoke....pretty good so far
  13. I have! I love old cheesy horror movies this weekend we'll (my daughter and I) have a Halloween movie themed weekend...with pizza, popcorn and chocs!
  14. I agree completely on the Scarpetta books...when I first discovered them I was hooked...couldn't wait to read the next...then my interested waned right around Point of Interest/Black Notice...the next couple were just unreadable....although I admit I picked up a hardcover copy of The Scarpetta Factor for a buck at a charity place...we'll see how that goes. (I too didn't care much for Scarpetta's ego) did you read any of Cornwell's other non-Scarpetta series/books? I read the first of the Andy Brazil....terrible terrible! I remember reading somewhere long ago that there were supposed to be some movies in the works, but I don't think anything ever came of them yet...I'll have to look into that...I'd be interested (based on earlier books anyway) I looked around for a movie...supposedly there was something in the works a while back with Angelina Jolie linked to it....oh god help us!
  15. over the weekend: Dark Shadows Chernobyl Diaries The Nightmare Before Christmas Coraline Beetlejuice (there was a Tim Burton marathon on yesterday)
  16. I finished Bleed for Me...which wasn't too bad...started Nanny Returns (sequel to The Nanny Diaries) and chucked it after the first couple chapters....it's awful. Tonight I will start When She Woke by Hillary Jordan
  17. lemon oreos...omg, these are soooo good!
  18. three of my faves....all excellent (IMO)
  19. The Raven (2012) it was crap
  20. You know, I thought she was ok through most of the book....but about 3/4 of the way through, she really started to irritate me
  21. Not that I'm aware of...I meant the TV series
  22. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children To Kill a Mockingbird Gone Girl The Snow Child
  23. Finally finished The Slap, and well....I didn't like it as much as I thought I would...or was hoping to even. I think it's the kind of book that does better as a series...(in fact, I believe it was turned into one) The story is told from the point of view of eight different people.....and their opinions on what happened at a family event. I found myself liking the characters (especially the male ones) less and less, though I will admit I also wouldn't of minded reading a bit more of their past, and what made them act/think the way they did (maybe that's where the series comes in) not the best read, but not the worst. Have started Bleed for Me by Michael Robotham last night as well
  24. about three quarters of the way through The Slap...hope to finish it by tonight or tomorrow night
