  1. Hello! I refuse to call you Justme, cos you are a book fan, so you are a very important person, and worthy of a better title than Justme. So I will call you Mustbeme! Which sounds a bit more positive...(unless you insist!) (Take no notice- sigh) Anyway, glad you found us and I hope you enjoy the forum. Pp
  2. I haven't read any of her work either, but they come highly recommended. Let us know what you think when you finish them. I'm sure you will love it here, but you may become headless as you try to keep up with your ever growing TBR pile! Welcome and Enjoy! Pp
  3. Roland said; Sounds good to me Roland! I also have a two-shelf dictionary, a Collins, which was a present Christmas.Very precious, though will need updating now, as it's about ten years old!
  4. I am a dictionary freak. Dictionaries and thesauri are my favourite books. I have about three or four online and the same in books, plus french and german too. Unfortunately, for all my enthusiasm, my memory lets me down, and like someone else said, I read it and remember it for all of ten minutes, sometimes less, and then it's gone! Shame, if my memory was better I might be a genius! Pp

    Hi!

Hi Ben. Welcome to the forum. A bit of healthy debate is always welcome, so long as it's done in a friendly manner, which is what you intended, I'm sure. Go to Durham Uni. They have a wonderful literary festival there, and Newcastle is nearby too.! Anyway, enjoy the forum. I look forward to reading your posts. Pp
  6. Hiya! This is a great place to find new books to read, and discover new genres. The people aren't bad either! Enjoy! Pp
  7. Hiya! Welcome to the forum. I'm sure folk will come up with lots of great suggestions for you to read. Enjoy! Pp
  8. Hiya Tris. You are very welcome. There are lots of TP fans here, myself included. Enjoy! Pp
  9. Ohh! Another writer! As Kell says, we have quite a few writers and quite a few aspiring writers, so I'm sure you'll fit in very nicely. Welcome, and enjoy:) Pp
  10. Welcome Evelyn. I'm sure you'll love the site, and be swamped with ideas for reading. Enjoy:) Pp
  11. yes...I was aware of that. Just one small question Michelle.
  12. He is! Spooncat...I keep meaning to ask, is that your baby? So cute! Pp
  13. It's been great having you on the forum Stuart. Thank you for taking the time to talk with us. Don't be a stranger! Pp
  14. Hiya Filmophobic! Your course sounds fantastic. I did some of it at Uni many moons ago, but would like to revisit some of it. Hope you enjoy it. Meanwhile, will you have time to read anything else? There are plenty of suggestions on the forum for 'lighter' reading, so get stuck in.I'm sure you'll love it:) Pp
  15. ***Hi Kaz*** I seem to have missed this thread somehow, but now I have found it, Welcome! I'm another from Aberdeen. (I keep telling them it's a good place) Hope to see you around, here, and maybe literally. Pp
  16. Hi Jess, and a big welcome to the board. Sorry to hear of your problems, but several of us on here can relate to similar things, (me included ) so you are in good company. Its a very suppportive forum, and if you get involved you will need to buy, make, pinch...another bookcase. You will never be lost for ideas of what to read. I have not read Stephen King, but he is one of the forum's most popular writers. He is on my TBR list. I look forward to reading your posts. Take care, Pp PS...Oh, good name, by the way. One of my daughters is a 'Jess ' .
  17. Hey Michael...that's a very classy chair! Only a musician could appreciate the value of that idea, or at least a musician who is short of space. I was always tripping over my music stand, and if I folded it, I then spent ages getting to the right height again. You also write! You kept that quiet! We have a few aspiring writers on here and quite an active writers corner. I hope you will participate in that. So, welcome to the forum, and enjoy the discussions. Pp
  18. How about Daniela Nardini, for Steele? She was Anna in 'This Life', and I reckon she'd make a really good Steele. This picci might remind you of the series. Daniella is top right. Pp

    hello

Hello Phil. Glad you found us. We are a very friendly bunch, so just get stuck into the posts and posting. Enjoy! Pp
  20. I have membership of audible too, which means you can get modern titles, rather than the older ones that are in the public domain. I always look forward to downloading my audio books as there is lots of choice. However, I would agree that sometimes the narrators are not as could as they could be. Some are just right, but others seem to misunderstand the the text and don't use the right inflections etc. But overall, I like listening to books. It means I can draw or paint, or make my cards, or even do the ironing, at the same time. Pp
  21. Earl Grey every time! Pp
  22. Are we allowed to know which town this is, Stuart. We locals might like a visit! Pipistrelle....welcome to the board. Lovely to have you join us. If you were born in Insch, does that mean you are near Aberdeen these days? If so, you are in good company. There are four of us from Aberdeen on the forum! Pp
  23. Hiya! I agree - your avatar is beautiful. I go through phases, sometimes fiction, sometimes, reference, sometimes biographies. But I think its healthy to change around a bit. You'll find plenty to choose from on here, with people recommending books all the time...so get ready to buy another bookcase. I look forward to reading your posts. Enjoy Pp
  24. Welcome Candybar. You made the right choice. And sadly your TBR pile will grow, so you need to eat healthily and exercise a lot, and not get hit by lightening, so that you can live to 190 years! Enjoy, Pp:)
  25. Doris lessing was very prominent when I was growing up, but I don't think I've read anything by her. Her works have been on my TBR list for a while now, especially as she was a great pioneer, so to speak in feminist writing. I wish I could read more quickly... Pp
